I haven't heard of the FN 510 before... I never thought I'd be interested in 10mm, but last year I walked into my local store & bought a used S&W M&P 2.0 in 10mm; & you wouldn't believe it, but it's oddly my favorite pistol!

I finally have a reason to by FN... very excited about this!!!!

Hmm. The 10mm easy button for FN would've been a 10mm conversion of the FNX45. This was a serious investment. The trigger will probably be inferior to the M&P out of the box, but my 509's smoothed up nicely with some dry firing.

My FN 509M has an odd trigger, it is extremely smooth with a very crisp break but is noticeably heavier than any of its competitors. I run double action revolvers regularly so yes, you can shoot fast and accurately with a heavy trigger, but I'll tell you after a two-day pistol class you'll notice the FN's heavier pull.

Where did you get the weight of 30.69 oz for the Glock 20? I assume you were talking about the Gen 4 Glock 20? I didn't find any published weight for the Glock 20 gen 5

Nice entry into the 10 milly relm. Stoked on how this one shoots. I really wish Sig would iron out the X10 issues like they do on all their other rollouts. With the quiet generational updates. I'm waiting to hear a youtuber or someone say this x10 looks to have been reworked by the factory and it now works flawlessly! Is it ever gonna happen!!! Haha

I experienced the elite 10mm by SA. Now I did my research and still had to get my hands on one. Warning... Alaska had lots of issues with them, but I did not believe it. Any way. At around 300 to 500 round session. The firing pin was stuck. Took it to a local gun store. It was taken apart and we found nothing. But we slammed a mag in to the gun, and the trigger fired. Unloaded of course. So we had it deep clean in a sonic cleaning device. So 20 bucks and I was out the door. It was dirty, so after shooting it again. It did the same. Wash rinse repeat. Same crap. Ammo was Winchester, Ammo ink, sig, tula and it was all store ammo. Alaska had the same issue and SA said it's the muggy weather. Look in up on KZfaq.

I am looking forward to get my own and compare it to my 320 XTEN

I'm going to be an unapologetic evangelist for this gun... My local dealer magically had one in stock and I bought it last night. Just got in from firing just under 200 rounds - 2 boxes of federal american eagle 180s, 1 box of 406 ammunition 180s, 2 boxes (40 rounds) of 220 Buffalo Bore hardcast and 10 rounds of underwood 200 hardcast... It freaking rocks!!! Not a SINGLE hickup or issue. It truly fits 15 rounds in the 15 round mag and can slingshot load. I tried limpwristing it after the first 100 rounds and not a single issue. Every trigger pull went bang. It was accurate, points great, accurate, and reliable. Love this gun! This is now my woods gun. Very happy with it... Get your hands on one if you can! Both mags were reliable. Ergos are great. The trigger on mine was fantastic (around 4.5-5lbs on my gage). It's a bit spendy, but IMO it's worth it. I have a sig x10, Springfield XDM-10, had a Glock 20 (gen 4), just this week was able to handle the Gen 5 Glock 20 and the M&P 10... And the FN is the cream of the crop. The shootability and ergos of the X10 are a hair better... But reliability of the FN rules and the shooting and ergos is in second place IMO.

What is the price tag on the FN510 10mm? My gut tells me the Hi Point 10mm coming out will go for around 200 bucks after awhile and uses the 10mm carbine mags. Now is Taurus going to come out with a 10mm version of the TH40? Will Beretta or HK come out with a 10mm pistol?

The more 10mm options the better. Your comparison did not note the new Hi-Point JV10 10mm. That would be interesting as it has a threaded barrel.

The only thing to consider is the test MAC did on the 509 and how badly it did. This is just a larger version

I thought that my 510 had a lighter trigger so I just checked it on my Lyman gage and with 3 pulls it averaged 3.9.

Next time include the retail prices. I love FN but the S&W is a great deal at ~$600 vs. ~$1000 for the FN here in San Antonio, TX. FN has night sights and a threaded barrel, but that's not enough to get me to spend an extra $400 since I'll be using a red dot and won't be spending $1000 for suppressor + $200 tax stamp + $40 fingerprints and 6+months waiting for NFA clearance anytime soon lol. That $400 savings can go towards a Holosun or Burris red dot, flashlight and a holster for a nice mid-grade 10mm build. Will likely also spend another $200 for an Apex trigger and a couple extra mags.

Looks good. Must be good. FN came up with the famous FN-FAL 7.62 among many other platforms. You are lucky there are so many 10mm fans in Alaska. Form a group of hunting buddies and agree to each buy one or the other, then you can swap and compare the whole range! My friend Clint prefers 44 Mag but 10mm might be a little more practical. I know I would like one but, a thousand dollars for a polymer pistol with a 6lb trigger, I have a 509 that I picked up for around $500 and it's nice, just can't see the price point at a thousand dollars for any of them.

Oooooh, that is a sexy lookin pistol! I have never used an FN pistol but I did look at an FN 509 in a gun store and what jumped out at me was that it had the WORST trigger I have ever felt. Seriously, I have to think back my KelTec P11 back in 98 and I'm not sure which one sucked more. It made Glocks feel like 1911's. Now that is the 509, it was a sample of one, and was 4 years ago so...... maybe the trigger on the new 510 will be different. I know I would damn sure wanna dry fire one of these before I buy one and I actually order sight unseen on a regular.

That gun is so superior to the worn out glock platform they keep polishing.

hard to go for FN 510 for $1299 when Sig X10 is $799, and it has a bull barrel.

PSA - the FN 510 has an unsupported chamber resulting in brass bulge. It’s worse than the Glock bulge. Reloading for the FN can result in case failure and blowout. I wish I know this before paying $1k for this gun. 😢 I spoke with FN regarding this concern. They said that they are aware of the issue, but aren’t doing anything to solve it. In their exact words, “the gun operates fine, you just can’t reload your brass.” I’m sure that a certain slop is attentional to aid in reliability, but this is excessive. I’m would watch this closely. It’s only a matter of time before some has a blowout and this is elevated to a legal issue. 🤷‍♂️
