There were lots of little things about the A45 that I didn't like: the permanently-fixed dashboard screen, the fake carbon fiber, the turbo lag, the stereo looks ancient, the general quality of the interior build, and the slightly less headroom in the back. But probably the biggest difference was the intoxicating sound of the Audi's exhaust. It's heavenly!

+stuartthelegend the exact same reasons im going the rs3. Another important aspect, the rs3 engine is significantly torquier down low, from a roll it would cream the a45. So in day to day driving it is going to be more fun to live with.

GTI_CHHA Thanks!! Yeah indeed ... I talked to an Audi official about that, and he said that they tried the Sportback in the US and werent that satisfied. As for the RS in the sedan, I think we can definitely expect that to come.

+Stephen N It still understeers a lot and has quiet a bit of body roll. The steering feels pretty numb as well and has a lot of play off center. I imagine it to be a nice car to live with, but it's not really a sports car to carve canyons with. If you don't plan on tracking the car, which I advice you to buy a whole different car to begin with, I wouldn't get the ceramics.

What a shame. I had high hopes of making this my next car, but based on the lack of attention to driving dynamics by Audi, looks like another car company will be getting my money.

***** thaks so much thomas. really appreciate your thoughtful a generous reply. i will be getting a 2016 performance pack gti, if they ever get here. ha! i sometimes think about the golf r...but; i am a retired humble teacher now. lol i had gorgeous 2006 audi s4 cabrio for about 5 years. the s4 with the old 4.2 liter v8. it was 'glorious' as i like to say. fat/'phat' v8 and car. fun to throw all that weight and power into the canyons up in malibu near me. :) i miss that car, but it was not sensible for me and i got a 2011 vw gti. love this little car. looking forward to get that new one soon. especially with all the good things they put in the gen 7 golf. (by the way; i have watched your vw got mark 7 review so many times! it makes my 'wait' easier. thank-you.) i will post this thread, if ok by you, in our discussion over at golf 7 forum. i think the guys and gals will like to hear your thoughts. thanks again for all your work.

Actually I was thinking this morning that I wanted to advice you the Golf GTI Performance instead of the R and the RS3, because indeed that one is the best choice overall. The GTI has a _way_ better price/performance ratio, offers all the visual emotional features and is the better every day car in terms of comfort and milage. Plus I really like the classy interior, especially the steering wheel etc.

Giovani Altelino Good question. The Golf R is the better deal imho as for the price. They are bascially comparable, it is more a question of which styling in exterior and interior you like better. Biggest technical difference is the engine, the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder is more fun in the RS3.

***** Hey Thomas. I did take a testdrive with the new RS3 with magnetic ride.. It was more comfortable than mine S3 without the magnetic ride i must say... Bad advisement of my audi dealer for not telling me to take the magnetic ride on the S3 ! They should make it standaard on both the models ! Only thing that i did not like on the RS3 is the extra horsepower, you do not feel a big difference... The sound was amazing. The handeling in faster corners was better than the S3 (my opinion) . Big dilemma's in my life ;) YOLO! Cheers Thomas!

Es kommt natürlich immer auf die jeweiligen Strecken an. Bei diesem Durchschnittsverbrauch hatten wir einen recht hohen Autobahnanteil.
