New 2023 Honda CBR 650 R Motorcycle Review / Specs | CBR650 Buyer's Guide! Today, we're taking a closer look at the new Honda CB6R50R motorcycle, part of Honda's CBR sport bike model lineup. A lineup of sportbikes / motorcycles that include a ton of both sport and supersport bikes that include the CBR150R, CBR250RR, CBR300R, CBR400R, CBR500R, the CBR650R that we're looking at today and it doesn't stop there as we also have the more race oriented CBR models with the CBR600RR, CBR1000RR, CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and last but not least - the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. I would love to to see Honda make a CBR750R with a twin, I think it makes more useable power and torque for the street and around town riding. As you already mentioned in the video, it would be lighter and if it is based loosely on the hornet platform would have much more tech and be more affordable too. I do not see much of a downside. If they offered some kind of a sport touring version/package that would be even better, maybe we could get real crazy and even throw some VFR badges on it...

The only twins that sound good are V-Twins like on the Panigale V2, and 270 degree parallel twins like on the 450SS and R7, because they mimic the V-Twin burble. All these 180 parallel twins like the Ninja 400/650, R3, and CBR300R/500R sound awful, and an aftermarket exhaust barely helps. Single cylinder bikes like CF's 300SS/NK, KTM's 390's and Husq's 401's sound even worse stock.

I have a 2019 650R and I love it. I would not consider a two cylinder bike even if it had way more power. One of my favorite parts of my 650R is the engine sound. It makes me smile every time I hit the throttle.

We have got to keep 4cyl options alive in bikes from Honda. It’s seems to be the last frontier for high compression 4’s, as their current car lineups have eliminated them; what built this company.

there's a reason why they are dying. Have you ridden the cbr650r? it's very underwhelming for a 4cyl.. even the frame is made of steel. it's a budget bike and honda didn't want to spend any money on R&D to create a lighter/more powerful engine with less cyl. it would've made an amazing bike a decade ago. that being said, I still think it's a great beginner bike. also, life is just too short to ride boring honda bikes! (they don't make em like the old hondas anymore!)

@EmotionalStreetTriple it's a good way to get your feet wet with a 4 cylinder. The 600rr was getting a little nutty. The 650r has the potential to be comfortable like the old 4 cylinder Hondas from 20 years ago. They were awesome do it all bikes. That said, I'm curious if you have any alternatives? I'm considering buying one but if there's something out there that's a little more fun I'd love to look into it

This is all the sport bike you need or want. I have one and I also have a 2009 GSX-R750. I ride the CBR and leave the gixxer in the garage. It's more enjoyable to rev a lesser powered engine high and use all of the power available than to just ride an overpowered bike at 50-75% of its capabilities. It's more comfortable too.

I’ve been daily ing cbr650r for more than 2 years now, if there is one thing i would like honda to do for newer models is offer adjustable suspension. The standard one is good but its abit on the soft side , which is good for long touring rides but me personally and many of my fellows friends who own the same bike feels the suspension feels a bit “soft” especially in high speed runs but overall the bike is the best .it got Fully usable power for the street riding and trust me u can” follow” up on sbk bikes with this baby. Not underpowered for 650cc i4 bike.The i4 engine sound is the best. ❤

You hit the nail on the head, it may not "win" in some aspects when it comes to spec-sheet shoppers but as an all-round sport bike for those that don't want a full-out supersport bike - this thing has a LOT going for it. Could they stand to throw some improvements at it? 100%! As like you mentioned, adjustable forks and a larger TFT display would be awesome but they're not deal breakers for a lot of people and for those that don't mind it the way it is, would only end up having to pay a higher price tag for those upgrades, when they didn't care about them to start with. It's a slippery slope though. I'm right there with you bud, there is NOTHING that beats the sound of an inline-four! I've harped about them disappearing in past videos (like this one kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l8-nqMqJlp-qfKM.html ) so I'll save you from having to read a novel about my thoughts on it all lol as we're on the same page. I don't mind a twin, just like I don't mind electric - I just don't want to see our four bangers and ICE toys in general start to disappear faster than they already are, leaving us with no real options at the end of the day. Not much longer and we won't have such different engine configurations from all of the manufacturers and it's going to be, do you want a twin or do you want electric and that's it lol! It's going to be interesting to see how all of this pans out though... Appreciate ya watching and sharing your thoughts too as a CBR650R! Ride safe out there and enjoy that thing ;)

@@HondaProKevin yes! nowadays if you want a i4 bike below 1000cc your only option is either honda or Kawasaki as both the only major manufacturer that still bother to produce i4 engine for bike that below 1000cc, nowadays if you get bike that's below 1000cc your choice is a twin (literally every other manufacturers), or single ( SMC, svart/vit) or in rare case triple (triumph and suzuki). your choice for i4 literally only 3 that is CB/R650R, ZX6R, or ZX4R 2 already came from same manufacturer and if you came from Asia you also have choice for ZX25R, if Honda remove 650R line and Kawasaki will hold the entire market segment for i4 bike below 1000cc, is it small market? yes it is, but more options is always good for customers as honda the only one that offer i4 in naked bike form, if 650 disappear that mean our choice for i4 bike below 1000cc will only be sports bike

Honda been knocking it out of the park for two wheels so long now I don't recall, does anyone else even make an non BEV anymore? Lots of huge vibing over the Honda automatic shifting system as only Honda keeping pace with even electric scooters now let alone pure BEV motorcycle with the Harley Davidson suddenly top dog in that entirely new segment once dominated by Zero. *PLUG AND PLAY, BABY!*

Maaaaan oh man, your comment shows just how out of touch I am when it comes to electric... I had to google BEV lol! I'm so used to them being referred to as an EV etc that it threw me for a loop. Honda's dipping their toes in that market, I touch on it in this video kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZtZ7mtCKqpqUcYE.html and have in some other videos as well but we've still got a bit more time in their electric model lineup announcement schedule (shown in that video) but it'll be interesting to see how their offerings stack up against Harley and the others. The 650r is kind of in a wierd stop IMHO. The ninja 650 is much cheaper to make up for the less power. The r7 is less powerful, but the twin has more usable power down low. Im not sure that It has anything that stands out other than the 4cyl. But it seems like most people looking for a 600 4 cyl will go zx6r or gsxr or maybe cbr600rr. IMHO if honda doesn't want to offer anything cool, just keep it in Japan and keep sending us 100 different UTVs lol

If I was a betting man, I'd say the CBR750R will have the same 4.5 inch wide rear wheel with a 160 as the CB750. From a business perspective, it would make sense for them to use the same setup, like how they did with the CB650R / CBR650R sharing the same wheelset. I hope I'm wrong though and they build a wider rear wheel for it but I'd say the penny pinchers in accounting won't let that happen as it would add a hefty amount to the bottom line. Fingers crossed though...

I couldn't agree with you any more bud, which is why I had to take a dig at it here and there and bring up the 20+ year old CBR600F4i that had it beat in many categories - weight being a big one. To play devils advocate though, decreasing weight takes money and most people want cheaper price tags and would rather save a few bucks and add weight than the other way around so it's a slippery slope for sure. Honda could definitely take a page from Yamaha's book on a lot of things... Well, not when it comes to the R7 lol as we need our inline-fours! Still saddens me about the R6.

It's not a sport bike it's more along the lines of the GSX650F (bandit). More comfortable position, heavier, smoother, lower based torque band. Etc. It's meant to be ridden comfortably with solid sportiness. A 600 super sport is directed solely towards track performance (don't let the clowns at the BP parking lot tell you otherwise). Track bikes vs sport tourer.
@scottyang9016
@scottyang9016 Жыл бұрын
@@jordanjoestar8839 yeah people keep thinking its a supersport or something when its more of a sports tourer. like you said easy on the body but still nice to hit the hills. don't know why manufacturers don't make more sport touring with clip ons like the 650r or most pre 2000 sport tourer. Most of them come with handle bars and its just feels like a naked with fairings, it kinda defeats the "sport" part of it guess.

No hopes from Honda. That turd only makes around 80hp. The GSR750 makes 150. The 650 is a street based gentle and heavy sport tourer, the GSXR750 is a brutally capable street and track weapon, radared at 183mph. If they go for it, they've got the work more than cut out for them lol. The Hornet is also a mess, and the GSX 8S has a wider rear tire, better frame and quick shifter included. Either way, Honda is getting a bit confused as of late. They aren't making things to the same level of expectations they used too.
@HondaProKevin
@HondaProKevin Жыл бұрын
Yessir, to say they've got their work cut out for them is a massive understatement lol! The entire middleweight segment for both sport / naked sport bikes has been heating up with the supersport segment pretty much dying off and it's left us with some pretty interesting and odd comparisons between segments from all of the manufacturers. And as much as I hate to admit to it, Honda is playing catch up in some aspects and they aren't doing the best job at it. Some of the decisions being made leave me scratching my head but I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see why some things are being done this way, versus another and the thought process behind it all. It'd have to be super interesting to sit in on some of those "big wig" meetings... Speaking of the GSX-8S, that's one I really want to ride this year! At first the styling was a major turn off for me when looking at the release pictures etc but after seeing more and more videos of that thing, it's really grown on me and most reviewers that I've seen are really digging the package so it looks like Suzuki has nailed it on that one. Looking forward to ripping one soon though. Appreciate ya watching and jumping in the conversation to share your thoughts bud ;)
