As usual a great video but i always laugh when people talk about these minor updates ..i rode mine for 3500 miles around europe in the summer and any vibrations are so minor... with so many variables in road surfaces and tyre wear im sure most issues are in the riders head... and changing the position of the pegs to allow more lean angle will only affect tge top 1% of riders lol

Agreed 100%. Get rid of engine vibes and then put knobbies on it and you've got your vibes back. Or just throw a cheap set of bar end weights on it and job done. And, I'm only 6'1" and I would prefer LOWER pegs, not higher. I can see people complaining about that now too! 🤦‍♂️ If you want to make everyone happy, don't build motorcycles, give away free ice cream. 🤣

Riding a Multi V2 (950) which is smooth generally, and having ridden a T plane Triumph I really don’t see the vibes issue at all. But if you want a smooth dull engine, stay with a car, I personally think the new changes make a good bike even better.

Some people are really affected by the little bit of vibration out of that engine. I've never understood it. I put Evotech handguards on my Rally Explorer and they came with heavier bar end weights. What little vibration was there before, is pretty much gone now. I guess you can't please everyone. I've heard people complaining about vibes on the new GS too, along with a few other disturbing issues. As far as the mirrors are concerned, I don't find an issue there either. And who on Earth is busy reading licence plates on cars behind them at 70 mph anyway? 😂 As a 185 cm tall rider, I can definitely say that I wouldn't love the bike as much if the pegs were mounted higher. A 1 inch drop would've been the direction I'd like. Even with that, I've put many hours on the highway (and also on forest service roads) with this bike and it's the most comfortable bike I've ridden. The only thing I envy in the slightest, with the '24 is the new colours. I love Snowdonia White, but Khaki Sand really caught my eye. Thanks for the vid, Bob! Cheers.

It all makes sense now why my local Triumph dealer offered me so much off a 2023 Tiger 1200 at the weekend. A bit naughty they didn't tell me about this!

@ashley_neal I work in a Triumph dealership here in Australia, don't know how it works for the rest of the world but we have absolutely no idea what's coming until it's announced to the public. When things are announced the dealer communications we get are a little more info intensive than what goes in the general press releases but at least here in Straya the manufacturer is very tight lipped about what's in the pipes. Quite often we find out about new models/updates because a customer will call the shop right as we open asking if we have the new one on the floor, and we sound like idiots as we have no idea what they're talking about.😂

I have a 2016 Explorer XRT and I normally would be looking for a newer model by this point, but the T plane crank vibration has put me off. I bought mine to tour long distances and the smoothness of my Tiger 1200 is very important. Another downside is the height of the seat. I’ve put on the low seat (820mm) and it’s perfect for me. Triumph is a quality product and my cycle has been 100% reliable.

I owned previous generation Tiger (inline 3 cyl) and now the 1200 rally pro. People whine a lot about vibrations, but I think they just like bitching and finding an excuse from the fact they can't afford one. Give me more torque low end instead of girly smoothness anyday. This new engine has a lot of character and as bro on video says, it brings more excitement than 1300GS. I love mine and would never trade it for the old triple. I must say I like to go off road so the new one is better suited for me.

@@ttrguy9952 @dafebeme2 I hate to have to debunk your comments, guys. Let's first establish the fact that I do have the means to buy Tigers: I have owned a 2014 Tiger Explorer, two Tiger 900 Rally Pro's, a Tiger 1200 Rally Pro and a Tiger 1200 GT Explorer. Now that we've got that out of the way.... The Tiger 1200 with the T-plane crank does have a very noticeable issue with vibrations. At motorway speeds and rev's between 4000-6000 rpm, you do get a numb feeling in both hands and feet. And the mirrors are very blurry at various rev's and speeds. Adding after market bar-end weights does reduce it to some amount but not enough to really get rid of the numb feeling. And I have heard dealers admitting that the vibes are much more noticeable than on the old T1200 engine. So, the 2024 updates might bring some really needed changes. Looking forward to a test ride on what is otherwise a great bike.

Collected my new 1200 GT Pro last week and first thing that impressed me was the lack of vibes!.. coming from a Tiger Sport 1050 which at anything over 100kmph would render the mirrors unusable & give u pins n needles in your hands( I still loved that bike!) I can’t see any issue at all with vibes on this bike! super impressed with it all round…ps. half considered the GS & the KTM but love my Triumphs😊

The only big twins available (for mixed on off road use) are on the 1290SA and 1300GS. KTM is too off road oriented and R versión doesn't have the techy suspensión the Tiger has. And as bro on video said, engine on Tiger brings more excitement than BMW. That's why I choose the Tiger. I owned the inline 3 1200 and I don't miss its whale weight feeling and poor low end torque.

Great insight... I had the 900 gtpro in May 2020, the T plane crank was awful made my hands numb at cruising speeds. Spoke with Freddie in Triumphs customer service and he remarked it was deliberate to add ‘character’ and now pleasingly we see them trying to back track and smooth out with better combustion and rubber mounted bars... I’d be tempted to scrap the T plane and go with the Yamaha-esque cross plane crank, at least in the GT version... keep up with your honesty motobob and say it as you see it... I did and Triumph were dismissive of me in daring to suggest the T plane crank was vibey... 😂😂 now who was right!! 😊🍻👍

Just bought a 23 GT Pro Explorer & I must say I absolutely love this bike. Engine, brakes, sus all fantastic. The dealer had it marked down thousands & Triumph had 2500 off as well, that I drove 2hrs to go get it. It was actually priced lower than the GT Pro. This is my very first time in 20+ yrs of riding owning a Triumph with a triple & I really like it.

I do get tired of youtubers claiming adventure bikes are not used for the purpose we buy them for, off road adventures.

I just rode my 23 1200 GTE 1550 miles and 5 days straight up the coast highway from California to Washington. My butt never bothered me, and neither did my hands. I do stay off of freeways when possible, but the vibration level was fine for me. One run through the gears at full chat with the quick shifter and anything else didn't matter. This baby howls! Oh, btw, I got it as a demo but sold with full wty for about 60% of msrp.

Like others have said, I am a little pissed off they discount of the bike so much after I purchased it at retail but what are you going to do. i’ve added so many aftermarket parts. Now it’s better than the 24 model all day.

Great review as usual and you’re right that the overwhelming use of adv bikes is on the road. With that in mind a lot of us tour tour 2up so what’s lacking with all the KZfaq reviews is …. What are the bikes like in comparison 2up with luggage which is how they will be used. I have a GSA, but the rear seat on the new 1300 is even causing my wife concern if we wait on the new GSA. BMW Club UK magazine recently likened the gs1300 pillion seat to a stool and it is 3 inches narrower than the 1250 pillion seat. The new 1300 is a brill bike and now suits shorter riders , it’s more adventure sport touring than adventure in looks in fact the panniers would not look out of place on an RT. These changes to Triumph are now making it a strong contender. Cheers

I've had my Rally Explorer for 17 months. I dont seem to have any issues with vibrations at highway speeds here in Oz. I guess that might have to do with our maximums which are 110kph. At that speed its ticking over a little under 4k. I find the vibes dont get noticeable till about 6k, at which speed I am usually overtaking someone to get back into my 'safe space'. Off road, when you're in that 5 - 8k range, the last thing I notice are the engine vibes as an annoyance. In fact, 'feeling' the engine is, IMHO, the best way to know if you're using the engine 'correctly' (torque, speed, tractibilty, control). In short, highway speed vibes are not an issue I have noticed and off road I find the 'feel' of the engine is a great assistance.

Thanks Bob. The T plane just becomes an engine that just doesn’t work when sitting at a constant speed for mile munching and was the only reason that stopped me from buying one. Purely by design this new model will rhetorically improve this however it’s still the same architecture and therefore will still be noticeable. As someone who rarely takes large adventurer bikes off road (as I have dirt specific bikes for this), at 189 cm I just prefer these for the additional space and leg room. The BMW boxer sells extremely well as it has less vibration, whilst offering low down grunt. Give me the traditional 120 degree firing order any day as I would already have one.

Some nice updates on the bike here, but they over focus on the engine or maybe its just the way it comes across. To be fair I have only test ridden (not owned) the 900 and 1200 (2023 bikes) and I didn't notice the vibration, maybe I didn't ride long enough, but i am used to twins so maybe I think vibration is normal. Like the new colour options.

As the owner of Tiger 800 XCR, KTM 990, KTM 1290 SA, Honda African Twin, Honda ATAS, and finally 2023 Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro I have logged many miles on bikes that are in this class albeit with the obvious exception of the BWM GS. The T Plain crank is a great compromise giving some feedback in lower revs and much better tractability down low, with a trade off of some higher RPM vibrations. Ergonomics and seat comfort are both excellent and bar risers are not needed which I put on my other bikes. Missing technology that is still not included on the updated 2024 model and would be advantageous is anti dive front suspension when in touring mode and linked braking. My KTM 1290 had both of these and it was nice. The steering stabilizer was also standard equipment on the 1290SA, and has been added to my African Twins, but the big Tiger doesn’t seem to need it. Very happy with the 2023 model and would be reluctant to trade it in even if offered t new 2024 version as an even swap. Probably going to put Dunlop Trailmax Missions on as my next tires. Wore out the stock METZELER KAROO STREET rubber that came with the bike and replaced that with some BRIDGESTONE BATTLAX ADV TRAIL AT41 but these are a bit too road oriented for me to have confidence fully loaded when on dirt roads. Rubber is by far the biggest variable in how the bike will handle. Always willing to trade off some pavement performance that the 19” front wheel would offer to get the advantages of a 21” front when off road. That said the difference in street handling on the Tiger’s 21” wheel is less noticeable than on the other 21” wheeled bikes I own. Another reason that the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro platform is so impressive. New 2024 models of Rally will only be available in US in the Explorer version with the big tank. Prefer the standard tank size for ergonomics , esthetics, and a lower CG weight etc. With the efficiency of the Tigers engine I am getting enough range not to regret this choice. On my KTM 1290 SA I got only 34 mpg on the highway so its 8 gallon tank was depleted pretty quickly.

My 2022 Rally Pro is me third 1200 Tiger, having had a Gen 2 and 3 previously, for the life of me I just don't get why people get all bent out of shape regarding vibration, its just not a thing. Sure its not as silky smooth (some might call dull) as the old engine, a point some journalist may have made and people have just latched onto this, what is it they say about "give a dog a bad name"? I've covered many thousands of miles on mine touring around europe and the UK and not once have I encountered intrusive vibrations but love the character of the new T-plane engine. And to top it off, Triumph don't charge you extra for the suspension lowering feature, looking at you BMW.

I don't know why Triumph overcomplicates things! The original 3 cylinder engine was a GEM! Want more torque? Increase the displacement!!!. Why taking this convolute route with T plane phases, balancing and so on?? Also...a 150 rear tire with 148 horses?

Well, at least it's more than "Bold New Graphics," If only a little. I have a 2023 Rally Pro. The only thing I really disliked where NVH was concerned were the OEM Karoo tires that are annoying AF once you get to 65 mph. If they wanted to keep things "off Roadish," there had to be any number of better options. Vibes? My mirrors are fine, though I did swap the OEM ones for Doubletakes. To see Triumph contorting themselves over the minor updates to counter the engine vibes is rather amusing considering all the BS they spewed about how cool the T-Plane crank was out the gate. I would like to know more about the clutch update. For a big torquey engine w/ a ton of power, I can't recall a bike that was easier to stall if you let your attention lapse. It requires what I consider silly amount of throttle to get it going reliably. I can only assume that it's a result of some facet of the Euro 5 emissions BS. I previously owned a 2017 Trophy w/ the previous version of the 1200 engine and it was comparatively a tractor coming off idle. Short of outright negligence, you were hard pressed to stall it. A new clutch lever was probably unnecessary. The 2023 seat is decent for an OEM seat, if not terrific. I went on a 2800 mile trip last June, and it wasn't really an issue. If it needs improving, I'll go to an upholstery shop.

The T plane really isn’t that bad at all, it rides very similar to the pan America V-twin and no one complains about vibes on that. Triumph owners are just spoiled because the previous Tigers were so good lol. Maybe they should have just boosted the older gen in capacity to about 1000 and 1400 respectively and tuned for torque

They shouldn't complain. It's a damned V TWIN, FFS. It would be the same as someone saying they owning an apartment on the Sun sucks because it's too hot there. 🙄🤦‍♂ I-3 are not V TWINS, I-3 have always been butter smooth. If you want throb and thud go buy a lumpy V TWIN.

The main issue i have with the tiger 1200 is the noisy screen. The bmw r1300gs screen is much quieter. This really matters if you are planning on riding it into Europe, you are going to spend hours on the motorway and autobahn.

I tried the 1200 last year for demo. Very comfortable bike. But engine barks alot, vibrates alot, and struggles in low revs and hi revs. That T-plane engine is a weird one. Its not good at anything then sound and vibrations. Engine stutters and doesn't like it riding in slow speed and low revs. And at hi-revs it completely dies above 7000rpm but redlines at 12 000. Great motorcycle but engine is a complete joke. Triumph should consider start buying solid engines from Suzuki, Kawasaki that have incredible low end grunt and you can rev the pants out of them inline 4 every day of the week.

Good info and great vid. However I believe Triumph made a serious mistake with this newer gen Tiger. All for what? A little more torque? Sorry my ‘18 1200 XRT is still the bomb, smooth as silk, single sided swing arm making tire changes a breeze and enough bells and whistles to keep me happy. Sometimes evolution takes a wrong turn and this is a good example.

You could see the engine modifications as a positive with Triumph reacting to customer feedback, or on the other hand as an admission that they’d got the original T plane crank a bit wrong. Or that they’d released the original engine too soon before the development work had been completed. Personally I don’t think this change reflects well on Triumph 🇬🇧

3:33 That right there tells you all you need to know. They are obviously in denial and suggest the engine with the T Crank from day one was "smooth & refined" 🙄. They are so full of 💩. #Triumph , just accept you messed with a good thing you had going on before and ruined it trying to make it "better" . . . just bring back the 120* crank, everyone makes mistakes. And while you're at it . . . build us a Tiger 1200 "SPORT" with 17" cast wheels like the last (2013-2021) 1050 Generation. MOTOBOB, thanks for always delivering ! You're always on top of the motorcycle news game ! 👌😎👍

They lifted the foot pegs to make a sportier handling, less comfortable bike. But they neutered the feeling right out of the engine and took away its character and soul. What sense does that make?? Those two things seem to contradict eachother.

The flatter seat ✅, the existing seat on my GT Pro slides you right into the tank crushing one’s testicles which is very unsatisfactory. Engine updates I feel neutral about these, the vibration just isn’t an issue (for me), but the clutch updates ✅ will make things a lot better it isn’t the best. Raising the foot pegs for more lean and more knee ache 👎 really bad move, the bike is a tourer A reasonable mid model refresh

I owned the rally pro for 6500km and 5 months, I had to sell it out of desperation because it had too many electronic and mechanical problems, the engine is terrible because the torque reaches too high and is not very usable. I replaced it with KTM 1290 SAS MY2022 which is better in every area of use. The tiger1200 remains the worst bike in the big adv bike segment, which is why they sell few of them.

They messed up big time with the vibey engine..I had the 900 rally pro ..started of as a love affair ..ended up as I couldn’t ride it more than 20 mins ..was never gonna gamble on the 1200 with the same 270 crank ..went all in and got a GS ..and I am a bit of a Triumph fanboy..they are admitting that they messed up with both the upgrades to 900 and 1200 mainly dampening engine vibes

I rode the current 1200 Rally Pro Explorer for a day, and I did not think it was that vibey. Have bike riders suddenly gone soft? I prefer the Tiger 1200s look much more over the Beemer, and at least it still has a proper tail light with grab rails. And an engine that does not sound like a Boomer's fart.

I really don’t get this vibration rubbish. I’ve owned my Rally Explorer from new in 2022 and it doesn’t have any more vibrations than any of my previous bikes. Let's be honest, it's a bit of a strange attitude from Triumph: they made a new model, sold it for two years, customers were mixed feelings about the bike and the factory was forced to tune the engine. No horsepower added, no torque just adjusted details to reduce vibrations. Do those who bought their TT12 in 22-23, must these people now feel that they rushed their purchase - always wait two years before buying a new model, otherwise you will get a semi-manufactured one? Are already sold bikes made better at the factory's expense under warranty? Hardly. Should customers believe factory hype when a new model rolls off the factory line? If you believe, you are a test driver, for your money. In the best case, you have received a Christmas card from the factory to your e-mail. I don't know if I'm offending anyone with this text, but that's how it seems to me. PS And as if that weren't enough, Triumph dealers have dropped the prices of last year's models, meaning that if you have a '22-'23 model, the aftermarket TT12 price has dropped by 15-20%. Thanks Triumph! You really "care about your customers"!
