19 years ago this month I was picking up my 2005 Yamaha MT-01. The best bike I’ve owned. This has a similar vibe. People that haven’t experienced massive torque in a relatively small(ish) package won’t understand. I want one of these.

@@leward I was living in Japan at the time and bought the MT-01 as soon as it came out. It was an excellent bike. I can see this R20 having similar characteristics. Lots of torque in a decent handling package.

If I was in the market for a performance cruiser it would have to be the Rocket ! Still the best looking and no one can touch the 225Nm, which is what matters to me

Test-Rode the Rocket 3R & GT ... didn't enjoy iT aT aLL ... ! Good for straighT Line... doesn't like to Turn or Lean ... my Trident 660 + FuLL TiTanium AKRA + OEM accessories is a better bike ... also have the 2023 XDiavel + Full system Termignoni & 2022 Gen 3 Busa + FuLL TiTanium AKRA & 2024 Scrambler 400X have prebooked Shotgun 650

@chirag4 tbh I haven't ridden the new one but I have rode the old version many times, even a 350bhp supercharged version and it's an epic bike if you accept it for the type of bike that it is, I'm used to sports and super nakeds so a 300+ kg, low and long cruiser could be called crap compared to those but for a huge 2300cc/2500cc cruiser it's impressive the way it handles

The R18 line up has been such a disappointment. They are all heavily discounted in the states and dealers tend to shove them in a corner. My local dealer just waits till they age enough to be demo models and that price cut is substantial and combined with zero down zero interest they still don't sell well.

I love this. The pink almost red colour way would stand out in a really good way. The solid back rim suits the bike and looks super tough. Those rear linkages on the swing arm have some great angles. Absolutely love it.

I’ve owned a 2021 BMW R18 for 2 years now and the more I ride it and look at it the more I fall in love with it! I also have a 2nd generation 1994 Harley Davidson Electra Glide 2nd generation in the family old customized multi award winning show bike that I bought from my Uncle then shook it down and completely restomoded it to put back on the street to be as reliable as a tank and still retain the old customizations and…I’m sorry but for weekend warrior cruising and just getting around town for fun? I would pick the R18 hands down any day! All I did was throw a couple vintage looking small leather bags on it, toolbag on the forks and small bag off the rear suspension and just kept it naked and it’s just fun to ride, beautiful retro looking, and performs like the high end German engineered vehicle it is and it’s still got character for days. These bikes are a steal and as a happy owner truly believe the release during Covid went poorly for obvious reasons and to be fair I guess you have to like the retro look which I do so…these bikes are a frickin’ bargain here in the states right now! Buy one! In my humble opinion? It’s a classic that won’t be appreciated until years from now and it’s a shame they aren’t being pushed harder by BMW. R20 looks fun too have to say but there’s nothing like hopping on that R18 and cruising up and down the ocean coast . Like your channel Motobob! Keep up the good work 👍👍😎

Love the stripped back, love the pipes. For me, I'll bag someone's RnineT strip it back & put on clip-ons & pipe like those. Bigger may sound better but in the real world the RnineT is plenty, just hold it open more frequently & for longer.

having recently taken an R18 on a ride day, I'm having difficulty feeling like they will get sports bike like performance from a similar engine. The R18 struck me as somewhat docile (I ride a scout)

Don’t agree it’s not manufacturers fault that prototypes look better than production units. Manufacturers know full well what the restrictions are and should aim to make great looking bikes within those. Now they’re just making “what if” bikes, creating hype and in the end have a disappointing product.

I own a R18 first edition and absolutely love it (ofcourse I customised it e.g. chopped the ugly rear fender), but the R20 concept is of another dimension. I must have it. As a harley biker for 20+ years, BWM made me sell all my harleys and focus only on BMW!!

Perhaps more of an FTR or Sportster S competitor? I don’t think it’ll get the big power of the Triumph or Ducati. It reminds me of the Yamaha MT01.

Same radiator issue for placement and cleaning with my Xdiavel. Glad this prototype solves the issue! The r18 ride position is a bit gimpy. Would prefer the power low down like my Xd. Glad this is on the cards as the rocket 3 is a little pricey as is the new Ducati v4, both should be 18k

Absolutely true. Saw the R18 concept and was blown away. Desire at max. When released was such a disappointment I cried. Am still trying to justify buying one and modding it. Strip it and bobber style. Trying to lose some of the insane weight. But even at more than 50% off RRP with 1k miles on is a hard sale. As the mods to make it good will be another 5+k plus

For futuristic design, the Diavel is the best. But this R20 is Triumph Bobber’s bigger cousin. The small TFT display looks cheap. I prefer the Analog/TFT hybrid display. The exhaust could be better designed too. The wheel in the back looks like a spare wheel used in cars. Overall, it’s a nice bike. 👍😊

Exactly what I was thinking a few days ago. But I thought more about a 5-600cc. I guess, they can't make money with such a low cc bike with a boxer design and a drive shaft. It's wired, that they have something like a 310 but nothing in between up to a 900cc.

Good looking concept but with out liquid cooling and the weight it just won't go against the likes of a Diavel v4 or Rocket III. So unless this is about the price of a base R18 i don't see it working.

I like the design, which is rare for a BMW. But I think it will more likely be too heavy and sluggish. And character and sound wise I'd take a V4, V2 or even the triple over the boxer as well.

The fun you'll have the first time you take a tight curve. They should put outrigger wheels on the end of the heads. Make sure you have major medical insurance along with a good life insurance policy. First. The present engineers at BMW don't seem to be that bright. (Along with the marketing department).

Not a fan of the stupid seat. If I wanted a seat like that I'd ride a horse. But everthing else looks fantastic. A huge improvement and and more practical package for their big dog motor.

it looks like the designer drew his concepts from two medium sized slow cookers hanging from each side of the bike, looks safe though, if you fall it's gonna take miles before your knee touches the asphalt🤐🤐
