Exactly what I was going to say. Maybe it’s still bad but a pencil thin barrel would be a worry for me. I’d do as you said. Same test in reverse

I do have a video in the shorts i did a cheap fmj site in and group test with the axis 223 if you want to check that out, but i do want to run more ammo group tests through sometime

@@boltactionballistics I really like my 223 axis only thing that really bums me out is I can't find any extra magazines anywhere.im about ready to sell it and get a Ruger American ranch rifle that takes AR mags lol

I guess you're right i did a little research too all sold out. I have a 300blackout in a ruger american i like it a lot it just takes AR mag. It's a sweet little rifle

Standard barrel, this is the compact rifle so I believe is a 20" barrel instead of the 22" barrel length that most would have.

I can’t say I ever saw my brother shoot a .30 caliber rifle but this year he’s decided to try deer hunting with me and I don’t want him to get something that will make him dislike shooting and I want him to shoot a caliber I already load (that rules out the otherwise excellent .243 Win) so we’ve been looking at the .223 Axis and seeing videos like yours makes it clear the Axis seems to shoot way way better than its price tag implies. Mainly we were looking for the heavy barrel version but that doesn’t seem to be available anywhere local and the Compact or Youth model was a second choice just to being so light and handy, and your video shows it’s quite a shooter so that might be what we go with.

I've been looking and searching every place that I know of and everyone is sold out, unavailable. I don't know if or when they become available again, or why they out of stock.

@boltactionballistics from what I can find, they're discontinued. Which is ashame. Now I have a bolt action with no mag.... I found one on Ebay that had 17 bids with 26 hours left... the price was already up to 80 dollars

Mine is a 1:9 twist 20" barrel compact rifle.

Nope, it's the basic model cheapest savage axis with a trigger pull of about 6 or 7 lbs. I can get a trigger kit and fix that problem but just haven't yet.
