NEW 3nm bandpass Ha, Oiii and Sii narrowband filters from Optolong are AWESOME

When imaging from light polluted areas, the narrower the bandpass in SHO narrowband filters the better. Monochrome astrophotography with such filters can produce incredible results. Here I review the new 3nm (extremely narrow!) SHO filter offering from Optolong. Are they perfect? No. But I love them - check out the details in the video.

Hey Kamil, I love your channel and learn a lot from it. I recently bought me the star adventure 2i and I love it. I use dslr and 18-400mm F3,5-6,3 lens and a 105mm F2,8 lens. By the end of June I will get me the redcat 51 and the Optolong L-pro. I also been looking in to get me a ZWO 1600mm pro. Now I have a question about filters. What would be best 1,25” or 2” filters?

I have had these filters; 2” version. Returned immediately. It is not just hallows around stars. Let’s magnify those pictures and see details. In such wide FOV, no details could be evaluated. These filters soften pictures. Now, I am using Chroma and Astrodon filters, sharpness incomparable. FWHM plummeted down on 0.5” for Ha and whooping 0.8” for O3.

Hello! I have ordered Optolong 7nm filters for my ASI533MM PRO. I don't have EAF, so is it possible to see stars in live view for manual focusing? With my 183MC PRO and L-extreme, I was able to see the stars for manual focusing.

Amazing video as always! I'm amazed you had to increase your focus time so much, I have Antlia 3nm, ZWO EAF, ASI1600MM, and my ASIAIR can focus with 5s exposures. I've never used NINA though.

Maybe you use a higher gain for that. I was at unity on my 294MM

Asiair autostretches the preview sometimes. you can view the histogramm and disable that

Helloo, these flat problems doesent comes frome those filter, its an known issue from the IMX294 Sensor, ZWO says, that there might be problems, flat problems with Narrowband filters, and these sensors.

I’d be curious to see the 2600MC pro with the L-ultimate vs a lesser mono camera like the 294 or 1600mm. You’re single subs. Look about the same as mine do with a higher end camera and a 3 nm filter dual band pass L-Ultimate, but with color versus a mono camera that’s a lower series but when you add the filters and ends up costing about the same price as of 2600MC

Very interesting video. Certainly these filters look to be picking up a lot more signal which is great. I am somewhat surprised by the strong halos in the OIII filter as it looks to be a lot more prominent in these 3nm filters compared to what I am seeing with my Optolong 6.5nm OIII. Great video

I have just about every optolong filter for OSC and MONO imaging. I got the optolong 3nm SHO set and the OIII filter gives me BAD star halos. I asked to exchange it, but even though they give you a 3-year warranty, it's utterly worthless as they only give you 14 days to return the product for issues like the fact that you got a BAD production unit. I guess defects in manufacturing aren't covered. So, what the hell is? I'm done with Optolong now, if they are really going to be THAT scummy with their product and customers. ESPECIALLY when I've dropped a few thousand dollars on their stuff!
