Several new state laws went into effect Saturday, including measures to punish car thieves with greater penalties.

Totally agree with you. I moved here from Hawaii. I plan on leaving in a few months. My car was broken into and damaged. Cops didn’t even come out to fingerprint it. I can actually see fingerprints. This place is a joke.

Let me get this straight car thieves have free riegn to steal all they want as long as the car "must not be damaged, must not be used in a crime, and must be returned in 24 hrs." I am so done with this bullshit. Constantly being disappointed by this city.

My car was broken into. The moron (s) attempted to steal it, but failed. I call 911 and was asked if the suspect was with me. (Yeah, they knocked on my door to let me know they were unable to hot wire my car) I did tell dispatch, “No! If the person was here, this would be a different call!” Then she tells me to call another number. I call the number and a cop calls back. He asked if anyone in my neighborhood is known car thieves. (Another dumb question!) I said I didn’t know. What I was thinking…”Yeah I go knocking on all my neighbors doors and ask if a car thief lives there!” I told them there are finger prints on my car where they broke the glass. Cop said they weren’t gonna fingerprint my car. I am on SS and work to make ends meet. I now have to repair my car. I moved here from Hawaii and can’t wait to leave. The youth here are extremely disrespectful. Colorado needs to stop blaming California for all the problems here. There are people that are native to Colorado as well as other mainland states here.

All cars after 2006 are built with GPS. They can all be tracked. Law enforcement is unfortunately not really in the crime prevention or property-returning business.

No all cars built after 2006 DO NOT have GPS built in, and they can't be tracked. Where did you hear this nonsense? My family have 54 cars between them, none of them have a GPS tracker.

Stop voting for progressives and vote for someone with a tough-on-crime approach and all this BS will stop pretty quick. Unfortunately, Denver voters are too shortsighted to realize this and will continue to vote for progressives.
