New Avocet ABS 1 Star Lock Pick and Gut

I love the range of security pins used in this lock as well as all the other security features it has. It might not offer as much as the ATK or 3* ABS, but for an entry level lock, Avocet have done a pretty good job IMO 🔐😃👏
Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

Very cool pins, like a manufacturer's challenge lock! Great upgrade for anyone who has a non BS rated cylinder. Very nicely picked as well! For anyone who is interested, if you use a 1 star rated cylinder in conjunction with 2 star rated door hardware (handles and escutcheons that are hardened and resistant to being snapped) it offers you 3 star protection, or you could just buy a 3 star rated cylinder and get a great level of security all in one go!

Have to admit this is one sneaky little lock. I can handle most 1* locks, but had a rummage yesterday and could only manage to get the false set, so I'm sure I've overset one of the pins. I'd put it up there with my Abus 83AL in difficulty.

You should really pick the lock both pins up and pins down to test if it was tougher if orientation was different.

Very nicely picked. I was surprised to see so many security pins. What's the difference between the Deforest and the Lunatic? They look practically the same to me.

I see what you are saying, but the lunatic has a FAR steeper rise and a much smaller tip. Try one and you’ll see 👍 I never thought I’d like it, but I was so wrong

@lock noob i saw a movie called Escape from Pretoria, it stars Harry Potter the magican, he escapes from a south African prison in 1979 by cutting his own lever lock keys in the prison workshop out of wood. i was wondering do you think its possible to make and usable wooden keys or they are pulling a fast one on us?

To be fair, it’s very hard not to when you buy a lock. Plus, it’s nicer for the audience to see what the challenge might be. In the end, KZfaq videos are always well practiced for the most part 👍
