Used to love the 993. Wore them for over 10 years. And after 2019, I watched as NB kept raising the price on them, until they reached $224.99 earlier this year 2023. I used to get them at Joe's New Balance Factory Outlet prior to 2019 and paid no more than $139-$150 for them. But then NB online started handling the 993 exclusively and raising the price. It was a stretch for me to be able to afford $199 and it hurt to pay that, but I did because I needed a good supportive shoe that looked nice. But now I'm saying goodbye to New Balance and the wonderful 993. Just yesterday NB raised the price again, this time over the $200 mark. Hey, it's a nice shoe, but NB has just simply gotten too greedy for me. Maybe some of you won't mind the new price tag, but $224.99 is just ridiculous for this gray shoe.

I actually agree that the recent price hikes are a little crazy. I feel the same way ab the price increase of the 990s I picked up 2 pair for the price of one a few years ago and now they’re almost $200.

Good review. Expensive at $199 from NB, seeing a comment stating it’s $224, which is insane. I feel like I am overpaying at $199 since I’m hearing they cost $175 a couple years ago. It makes sense because they are made in the USA and we have seen serious inflation over the past 2 years in materials, logistics, labor shortages, etc. I’m just diving into the MiUSA series and will determine if I think they are worth it.

Great review. Really appreciate what you had to say about choosing a shoe width. I switched to Wide after wearing medium/standard width all my life and what a difference. My feet felt comfortable for the first time in years. Also, I have both the 993 and 990v5 and it seems to me that the 993 fits better and has a more solid feel under the heel and sole -- better support. The 990v5 does not have the same solid feel in the heel and sole and seems like it will wear down faster. I think the 993 is a more durable shoe that offers more support, as well as comfort, and will last longer. What's your opinion? Thanks again for the review of the 993, the best I've seen.

Literally wearing my 993s right now! I was just thinking how comfortable they are with the wide with. I’m glad they worked out for you. I don’t have the 990v5 but I have the v4 in a standard width and I prefer the 993 wide width. I just picked up the 990v6 so stay tuned for that review. Thanks for watching!

Thank you brother for showing the inside of the NB 993. No other KZfaqr/sneaker reviewer does this. My feet are super sensitive. I will feel every one of those tiny holes on the insole. I will go with 992 now. Keep up the great work.

Yeo Dancy do you prefer these or the 990v6 for comfort? I like the 993 more than the 990v5 but I'm never tried the 990v6 before so I'm not sure. Christmas shopping time is here you know how it is

Hmmm so I haven’t worn my v6 yet but, I will say that I really like these 993s. I’ve been wearing the 993 a lot lately and they’re really comfy. I did get these in a wide width so maybe that’s why… they are a little spacious though.

Are these wide? Is there a big difference between the standard pair vs the wide pair.

These are wide. There’s def a significant difference in the wide vs standard width. I have a slightly wide foot so I can wear either width. In this shoe I went with my usual half size up in a wide and it’s doable but I definitely feel like I could of went with my normal size. So the wide is more roomy in the mid and forefoot. I buy at the Lawrence MA factory store all the time. I have not noticed any defects at all. The 992/993 are my all time favorite and hard to find anymore

@@michaelpalm2210 The NB Outlet stores in my state no longer carry the 993. Prior to Covid they did. Sad I can't get them there anymore. Price was much better than on NB website, now $199!

Personally I like the look of the v3 more but I haven’t worn mine yet because I’ve been wearing my 993s.

Well they’ve restocked a few times. I would keep my eyes on the website just in case and if they do grab them asap. The grey is a pretty popular colorway. If a size 9 is your true size you might be able to go with a 9.5 if you don’t mind the little extra room in the toe box.

Nope! Anyone who really knows … knows how comfortable new balances are. They’re also one of the best shoes to wear causally because you can easily dress them up.

I would say so! I haven’t ran in these yet but I’ve ran in my 990s. I always recommend new balances to my friends because of the solid cushioning that’s good for both all day wear and a run! Thanks for watching!

990 models were originally made for running, but with the premium materials they've become more of a day to day shoe.
