Copied and pasted from a previous post:
Due to the death of his nephew, King Albert 1of Belgium and in recognition of of the heroism and sacrifice of the Belgian army in the First World War, King George V of Great Britain bestowed a unique honour on the Belgians, never given to any other non-Commonwealth country, that of a yearly parade at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. Allowing their troops to parade through central London in uniform and carrying arms.
This years parade was lead by the Band of the Grenadier Guards.
The parade started at the Cenotaph where there was a remembrance service and wreath laying.
It was an extra special year this year as the King and Queen of Belgium were in attendance as well as The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who were representing King Charles.
The parade then moved onto Horse Guards where another service was held at the Guards Memorial before the parade headed back to Wellington Barracks.

Much bigger and grander occasion this year. Royalty in attendance with all of its historical significance. A fitting tribute to all the fallen from belgium during the great war. Over 100 years ago now. Just 30 odd when i was born. "Lest we forget".

Another excellent video from you, thank you for your time spent that enable folk like me to view events that national tv tend to ignore. The solemnity of the occasion is moving, as it should be, and you've captured it well. Thank you again.

Belgium and England have a truly ancient connection - it's very possible the Waals and Welsh were the same tribe about 2500 years ago, although the word is actually Saxon for Stranger. In the high mediaeval, the Trade Treaty between Brabant and England centred on wool and weaving was to mutual benefit, and many English nobles held land in Brabant - John of Gaunt/Jan van Gand, for example. In WW2, the SAS strengthening of the SOE created an ongoing special relationship between the families.

the two security officers ought not to be yapping it up during a solemn ceremony, so hope they get reprimanded... it's bad behavior not even seen in a parish church during a remembrance service... and the Belgian office with red cord is a lost cause. He couldn't stand at attention if dangled chocolates. He's really a disgrace. Such events happen only once a year, so for once a year, a person can stand still, be respectful and refrain from yapping. Fortunately it's on video for all to see. If the soldiers can take time and care in preparation to show their best and stand at attention, then the security and other officers can also make a small effort to be respectful to the troops and ceremony. It's very very small requirement. Boris might have been drunk and laid the wreath upside down, but he wasn't yapping.

The officer in question is always looking over to his side because an officer of the navy became unwell and was being attended to by a medic this footage does not show this. The officer was not being unprofessional he was showing his concern for one of his subordinates.

Mr Baton, first I thank you for doing the video and staying to the end. Very enjoyable, listening to the band playing 'Belgian style' and watching the impeccable performance of SDM Chambers; who always moves to the music and end of the part or bar.He is a true role model. Poor show on the members of the public talking throughout the ceremony and the two older dudes in suits with jackets unbuttoned, gossiping . The other guy in uniform with the red lanyard needs to learn how to stand still.
