The weak link on my modified BMW M140i Shadow edition has been it's stock suspension, works for a 7 tenths street car, but really suffers when being pushed harder. I noticed this during both of my recent Petrol Head trips, and especially on a track day we did at Llandow earlier this year, It seems the LSD, strut brace, lowing springs and spacers have exposed the standard cars stock suspension set up. I was looking at traditional Bilstein coli overs, but I use my car for everything and didn't want to lose the ride comfort, these new dampers retain my cars adaptive adjustability, they're plush in comfort and really stiff in Sports or Sports +.

Mr Rossi is taller than I remember 😁 looking at you kit list at the end if there is any adjustment on the rear brace try slacking it off or even take it out for a test. It looks like it is resisting too much of the role and making the car v tail happy. Yes ultimately you have to slide an LSD around a corner because both wheels are going at same speed but from what little I can see in the video it’s breaking away before even getting close to making the fronts push on. Just a thought 👍

Bilstein use Eibach springs in their B12 Kits. I have them on my E92 335i and love the improvement they give in all areas of comfort and handling.

Just some M4 LCA's and a remap to go! It looks like a bit of a handful with the LSD but I suppose you have more confidence in the car and are pushing harder. Better than the snap oversteer on the open diff.

Loving the content Joe, Keep it up! What are your thoughts on the colour of the dampers. Is there an option to change the colour for example, as I feel that they don't match the blue M performance calipers, and look of the car (interior and exterior).

Its a rather loud little fucker on idle isn't it! I love it. I might get my m235i cat back sorted paired with a jb4! The bilsteins look amazing fella. Good job

Thanks man! Been waiting for Michelin to produce Cup 2s in M lite sizes for years... Apparently they're coming early next year. Trofeos are too expensive and too track biased, I will only do a couple track days a year and wouldn't be worth the sacrifice, also deadly in the wet 👌

Hi Joe great video, just bought an M140i shadow edition myself and enjoying it. But handling is not as good as my old M235i, little floaty. How do you go about getting the underbody brace fitted to the car. My BMW Dealership don’t seem interested. I would go to Motech to get it fitted but you can’t buy it from them. I can’t find much help on internet, so do you have any advice about this? Cheers dude.

Congrats on your new car buddy! Unfortunately the camera must lie, my paint is terrible and my bonnet needs a re spray from hundreds of stone chips... I'm not great with paint care etc sorry

Good video thou 15k for 3.6 secs diff is not really worth considering the MOtech vehicle had 40 kg less weight if not more so realistically maybe 2.5 sec diff. Good content none the less Joe always a joy to watch :)

That would be very interesting - track time is fascinating but it only lasts minutes and I have a much longer drive home on a bumpy B road every day :). I got my M140 a few months ago, after years of front wheel drive stuff and I'm delighted by the cornering grip (in the dry!). Most reviews focus on the power, but its so much fun to push through a tight series of back road bends!

If I understand correctly, these are replacements for the adaptive dampers? I have the stock (passive) suspension on my M140i, and looking for a little more planted suspension, and if possible a little less bouncy feel and not lose too much comfort. I used to have a KW V2 on my previous car (Mazda 3 MPS) which totally transformed the car. I have no experience with Bilstein. What would be recommended as upgrade for M140i stock suspension?

Joe, can you say why you have opted not to change the software for more horsepower? I just always thought it's the first thing people do with turbo cars. Is it fuel mileage or durability or something else that you don't like?

I am considering swapping my stock adaptive dampers for the B6 damptronic, but comfort is still a priority for me. Can you give some feedback regarding how the comfort mode feels with the new B6 damptronic kit vs the stock adaptive dampers?

B6 is mostly for gravel actually. So they are softer than B8. So no problem with comfort

I'm sure Tony will find you a demo for me to have a go in while you explore what the standard M2 should have been from factory...I suggest the a507 to Buntingford as part of your excursion. I have an M140i with passive standard suspension, I like the idea of upgrading the springs/dampers to something where the car will sit and perform better. I’ll never track the car so I wouldn’t even want adjustable dampers, what choice do I have?

There is a non-adjustable version of the Bilsteins that you can fit to your passive setup in conjunction with some Motech springs. Should be far superior to the stock setup.

They are not the same. The Motech Eibachs lower the rear more than the off the shelf Eibachs

3.5 seconds is a considerable amount, you can tell that your car enables you to have more confidence in what it's capable of so therefore be faster. The only thing that puts me off tuning my car (Mini 210) is what it could do to the re-sale value. It's a very small audience that would want that much extra after market parts fitted to the car and obviously means the car have been driven hard. Have you even thought about this and does it bother you?

Alex Oliver keep all the oem parts. can just as easily swap it all back. even if its been mapped they can put a standard map back on.

Only downside to this car IMHO, the 3.0L engine size; I'm young so I get ridiculed on insurance.

I consider it the best thing about the car. Turbolag is the worst. There's no free lunch. The less boost needed for same power the better.
