Hope you enjoy my BMW M140i Review & Update Video, aside from all of the original Motech Performance and M performance parts, I have recently had some Bilstein adjustable dampers fitted and some incredible (dream) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres fitted, Michelin now make this model tyre in M lite sizes 225/40/18 & 245/35/18.

I have the IDrive 7 in my 118i and it is great, I don't need fancy touch screens taking up all the interior, I am glad that BMW are doing their own thing and not copying the competition

Great video Joe. As a previous M235i and now M240i owner (via a Porsche Cayman) I think you've nailed the appeal of these M-lites perfectly. For the money, there's nothing like them. In fact, scrub the for the money bit. I think they are a great all round package, full stop. The new car has a lot to live up to.

Great video mate, agree with everything you said, you’re one of the main reasons I ended up in an M140. You actually drove past me the day you shot this, later in the day in the Guildford area, I was in a sunset orange M140 pulling out of a country park car park.

I bought mine in July 18 and added the M series LSD and just love it. I have no problems with the manual gears. Changing gears is so smooth. Your videos are great Joe; very enjoyable

Joe, I really love these videos much much more than the fancy ones with the drones and the music... With these kind of videos , you became famous to the right people. It's with these kind of videos that people got the right info. People who are interested to buy or change there bmw. I bought the M2 and a M240 xdrive this year (after 15y of Quattro driving, if you remember) by watching your basic, no fancy (crashing 😉) drone shot video's over and over again. I even viewed Alpina for a wile becouse of your 3 famous vids 😂. I found the info I was looking for in your videos. And I think a lot of people do. You're the Chris Harris 'light' version 😂😂 And like you said, this take much less time to edit. So it's a win win for you and your viewers lol. Hope you make again much more of these 'right info you need' videos. Greets

Bought a M140I by shear luck 5 months ago. I was looking at hatchbacks from Ford, Subaru, Audi ect and possibly a 3 series. Whilst in the bmw dealership I asked about the M140 but I couldn’t fall in love with the looks. Took it for a test drive and bought the car , LCi2 with comfort pack, apple car play, adaptive suspension and 8 speed auto. I live in the city in Australia and I am so pleased with the car. Unfortunately after watching joe, along with other reviews it has become a bit of a love affair and now has springs, spoilers, and more power. Be warned. Xxxx

Love this car Joe! My biggest surprises when I got in the car was how smooth the ride was even when you had the motech/eibach springs. And that sound! Just makes it very special (I’m a sucker for the sounds of pops and gargles)

My friend put the Cup2s on his F10 M5 CP and he cant stop raving about them. Says they have turned the car into a different beast and rectified the weight issues he was complaining about in the corners. Great to hear they did the same to the M140i as well.

Your m140 is such a nice example of tasteful upgrades! All driver focused! Love it! I think the current 1 series platform is soon to be gone and it will be such a shame. Hi, Joe. Following your channel for some time and enjoying alot. i'm happy owner of m140. I have tried other great hatchbacks. got best connected to bmw because of less of controlling systems. the car keeps me in focus and lets me to drive (driving only in sport+ helps). i always know that pushing it hard without focusing on driving - this beast will throw me away. not the same for seat / golf - what ever you do, car will fix... i guess this will be different on track, but for once in a year this hardly relevant for me. so this constant connection, focus and control, which are must for this car, makes a total difference for me. thanks again for the pleasure of your channel! Joe. You the expert. If you had a choice ( and the money ) 😂 , would you buy an m4 comp 2018 for about 60k nearly new or a m4 cs for between 65-70k? Not that I have that kinda cash but , just your thought. M4 comp look great but popular. The Cs looks greater but plainer inside and not so many around. And if the weather was hot always ( which it is here ) , would you go for the cs over the comp??? Many thanks bro. 👍🏽

I totally agree with you on the interiors. Had a C200 estate for a couple of weeks, and the interior is just so cheap. People I know always praising mercedes interiors, but man it felt really crappy, I haven't found any cheap feeling plastic in a 3 series.

Joe, love the comparison that you make between the 140 and it’s competitors. As an owner of an M135i with the same Motec mods as your previous white M135 I’m thinking of upgrading and after much deliberation about used Golf R’s or AMG 45’s I’m realising that the uniqueness of the package will probably pull me back into an M Lite. A grey 140 Shadow edition with Motec mods will almost certainly fit the bill. Thanks for your in depth reviews to make the decision process a little easier.

I think the m140i and m2/ m2 comp use the same manual box. I’m not sure if the m135i one is the same. I can confirm the m140i box has a lot short throw than the m135i. The m performance gear knob makes it feel a lot better (I know it’s only a gear knob but it honestly does) just makes it feel more precise and a more satisfying shift that feels shorter and easier + smoother to place

Agreed loving my M140. Think the quality of the BMW is a little bit iffy especially my creaky doors hmm. Although after I fit my new exhust it may distract from the door noise. Keep up the great vids !

Interesting point about driving position. I'm 6ft2 and I had to sell my M2 (2016) because of the driving position. All fine with my GT4's LWB tho.

Hello Joe. Always enjoy listening to you waxing lyrical about BMW. I've had my S3 for two years and love it. Agree with you on the interiors. But I'll be very interested in the 1 series replacement. Joe - the reason the M5 has the ZF8 is actually to support the 4WD system... was a lot cheaper for BMW to use a pre-existing 4WD variant of the ZF8 than to completely redevelop the DCT for this

Ahh I didn't know that, but regardless it does a better job at efficiently getting through the gears when pushing on in my opinion, very smooth and effective... Maybe that's just my take on it

I recently got a Golf R my 7. Love it to bits. Briefly considered the M135 but it just didn’t have enough going on. Your M140 tho is 👌🏽 You may just miss the all round package if you get the M2 comp

Well said there joe, some great points, I’ve recently just tried an M140i and loved it! Its got a certain naughtiness to it that it’s 4 wheel drive rivals can’t match. I will hopefully be putting an order in very soon. I do think the focus RS is the better drivers tool...... but not by much! And all the things the RS doesn’t do so well (as much as I love it) the M140i does

Hi Joe, great vid, been dropping in and out of them last couple of years. Really like what you done with yours, the Eibach springs and spacers really set the car off, subtle...how it should look really when built. I have 2014 M35i for last four years and might have to invest! Different thread but "Dad brag" bus coming, but after having a M3 comp for a bit he recently collected a black CS (luckily as they are very rare). Its night and day visually over the comp and standard and hopefully he enjoys it once run in. He is always stalking your vids for reviews and nabbed one from Fairfields Leigh on Sea! Were in Essex so if perchance you're ever over this way he would like nothing more to show it off to you! haha. Keep up the good work

Thanks for your videos, Joe. My BMW salesman hates you :-) One year ago I changed my PO from an M2 to a 240i - I never regret it. It's a brilliant car. But BMW should have made the fuel tank a little bit bigger in the 1 and 2 series... that's my only complain about the car :-) Have a great time and keep up.

Awesome Video as always. I drove that road about half way though on my first day of my new Leon Cupra the other day. Shame roads still a bit icy and prob a good thing I did not see that 80's Audi Quattro Coupe cause I sure would of had an accident ;-) . I've never driven the 6cylinder petrol but not sure altogether why they are spoiling a great combo of engine and gearbox

Nice and informative review! I'm planning to purchase a M140i this year. What's your opinion on the X-drive version ? I don't really feel the need to play and drift around so much (expensive tyres ;) , just want it to handle safe and be able to to sub 5 seconds 0 - 60 launches. Does the X-drive handle much better out of corners and overall ? Or is it too dull maybe ?

Great Job Joe. Think i will go for a new M140 to replace my M135. Was waiting to see if the older M2 prices fell but like you indicated, the M140 is probably a better day to day car.

Chris Crookes it is a better car but is obviously the same interior and style etc so the new car feeling doesn’t last as long if your coming from the m135i. I love mine but if I could do it again I’d get something different.

Joe. You are so well know throughout the BMW club or enthusiast that I will try and get BMW Cyprus to let you have a test drive with their M1. BMW Cyprus I believe was the first BMW showroom outside of Germany . They are well know by BMW park lane. They had 2! M1's once , but I think they only have 1 now. I'll try and get more info and let you know via this channel .👍🏽🇹🇷

I'm sure I've seen in one of your videos you prefer the 5 door m-lite cars over 3 door for seating position. I'm looking to buy one and I'm 6ft7 was originally looking at 3 door but now not sure what to go for. My thoughts were with the 3 door the b pillar is set further back so when sat in the driver's seat your not right next to the pillar and the seat belt is that bit further back.

Great video Joe! Love your car and am impressed with its breath of ability. Wish I could feel comfortable with the size of the car though. Like you I'm over 6 feet tall so the 1 series looks and feels a little small for me. I'm more used to 5 series size vehicle's but sadly no m-lites available! Keep up the good work.

Hey Joe, Amazing how the 39 minutes of the video passed so quickly. I modified my White M135i manual to match the spec of your last car (with Motec of course) in January 18. Love the look of the car and the way it subtly alters the character but is not too shouty. I found the section about the You Tube revenue on your M2 video really interesting. Look forward to your future content. Quick question how much is the LSD, as I’m pondering whether to make this the final mod to my car.

Joe, as usual always good to here about the m lights from you, but how does your 140 compare with you 135s you had before. I'm thinking at some point of changing my 135 so would appreciate your thoughts.
