@@Daniel_The_Mechanic Yes there is definitely a way with any system. If you have access to your modem/router's login page, the address is usually 192.168.1.1 or something similar, you can log into it and split the WiFi network into both 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz bands. I just name the one that is the 5.0 Ghz band with a 5 at the end of the name. If you can't login, you may have to contact your ISP to figure out how to login and do it. Some ISPs also require you to do it via an app vs. online dashboard. Let me know how it goes, good luck!

Great review. I just don't understand why do companies say their cameras are in HD, but sometimes it doesn't look like HD? I also dislike limitations to using the camera's, and you have to buy subscription plans to make sure you can watch full video instead of clips.

Yea Blink's HD quality is always pretty trash looking. While it is 1080P video resolution, I'm guessing the bitrate is too low and/or the camera sensor. All their cameras just do event-based recordings, no 24/7 continuous recording, but to just see a live stream for any length of time over a minute, it's ridiculous to charge for that benefit when other brands offer it without needing a monthly plan. Does it work when the wifi is down? Some cameras will still work and upload what it captures while the wifi was out.

I don't believe these will continue to record without WiFi since they have no onboard storage to temporarily store clips until connectivity is restored so it can sync later, especially if you only use the monthly cloud plan. If you use local storage via the Sync Module 2 and WiFi goes down, I don't remember seeing Blink using or hopping to a local network to transfer files, so I'm fairly confident that it won't record without WiFi.

Great video, VERY informative. However are you sure you've tested screen recording on the phone while using the app? Mine(Pixel 6 Pro) works just fine but the second I go into the Blink app, the whole screen turns to black. Soooo disappointed. Thought you had just given me another reason to refuse to pay their monthly fees but alas, I can't record the screen...

Hey @rickvince, I was able to record my screen using my Samsung Ultra phone. Other users have been successful too, but I don't know if anyone tried with a Pixel phone, but it really should not matter. What happens if you try to screen record while a KZfaq video is playing? I want to ensure that the issue is not localized to the Blink app first.

@@DemCrumblies I've tried both youtube and tiktok and they worked just fine. I did it again but added blink and during that specific part, everything got quiet and turned black. I've tried both "one app" and "entire screen" with the same result.

@@rickvince Ohh interesting, I use Samsung's built-in screen recorder in their One UI OS, so I never tried it with a 3rd party app. I just tested it again and it recorded without any issue. Does Pixel have a built-in screen recorder of any kind?

@@rickvince Really not sure why it's showing a black screen in that particular app. Can you try to maybe clear the app cache for the screen recording app to see if it helps? Not sure what else to suggest.

How do I transfer blink plan from mini 1 to 2?

I'm not sure about that because I've never paid for the monthly plan, I just used the trial. You can cancel the trial on your Mini 1 if you're only paying monthly, then start a new monthly plan on the Mini 2. But if you paid for a year already, it's best to contact Blink support here and ask if you can transfer: support.blinkforhome.com/en_US/contact-support

@@DemCrumblies Likewisr! I've been watching your videos and you make GREAT videos! I recently purchased my blink mini pan at Best Buy. The young lady cashier asked me if I was sure I wanted to purchase this as many people retern it. She said many people don't know how to set it up as its complicated...but your videos were on point and made it easy. I bought it for my studio apt so I can check it when im at work. What I like is the Pan, tilt, and the night vision. You can minimize or maximize (zoom in or out), with your fingers at a specific area your looking at. What I dont like is: - the white noise - even a small light will flare up the screen - when you zoom in it gets blurry - the subscription which is only $3 per month but still My question is do you have another recommendation for a better camera that has pan tilt and zoom without a subscription good enough for a studio apt? I've only had the camera 4 days and should have done more research before buying

I recently bought one, purely to be a chime for my doorbells. I have no interest in an indoor camera watching me so I just disabled all the recording functions and pointed it at a wall. I still think it's ridiculous that they don't sell a standalone chime for their doorbells. Not everyone has a hardwired doorbell system nor wants to the hassle of an Echo device and Alexa.

The great thing about the subscription is they give you extended warranty for your devices plus a longer live view I have 9 indoor cameras 1 doorbell and 2 echo shows 5 and 1 echo show 8 😂

@@DemCrumblies I have 2 modular with 256gb sd cards 😂 so with this I added 1 doorbell and 5 cameras on 1 and 5 cameras on the other 1 this way exterior cameras on modular 1 stay armed all the time and the interior modular stay off to I leave the apartment so the yearly plan is the best way to go because it adds extended warranty to your cameras I can add 9 more cameras for a total of 20 cameras on 2 modules and echo shows don’t count against your 10 camera limit on modular Plus I have 12 smart light 💡 bulbs and 3 outdoor and 1 indoor helium hotspots with 3 TVs and 1 pads all streaming cut the big cable cord over 2 years ago My front door has doorbell and 2 cameras pointing at the ground in each direction so I can see a package on the ground when dhl / ups / FedEx leaves on the ground next to my door 🚪 A camera in each room and kitchen and hallway to cover my whole apartment inside and outside And not one but 2 T-Mobile home internet 🛜 connection running the show first one for all my smart home devices and the other one just for streaming media

I find it really poor the mini 1 always showing offline and trying to load the live view it never loads most of the time

One issue could be if it's placed too far from your router or modem, but I agree, Blink generally has weaker hardware compared to their competitors. Another reason could be if the SSID isn't split to the 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz bands because maybe the Mini 1 could be connecting to the wrong band sometimes.
