Pulled out my couch and installed a camper bed. After 2 years of building and traveling in this bus, I decided I wanted a full time bed instead of a foldable couch.

Jeet is absolutely hilarious- love his senses of humor- love how you and your friends all have such positive energy and you all have such a great sense of humor. Love your style of building it has definitely been my inspiration for building my own bus- as for a dog - a rescue dog would love to be your companion and your shop security guard - your sisters are going to be so excited to have a dog in the shop- you will have to have a naming contest with your viewers.

Maybe move the desk up 6inches? That would be kind of cool to just swing over and have a desk next to your bed, unless you're going with that storage idea of the original plan.

I was thinking about doing that but, in order for me to move the desk I would have to take the bathroom wall out.

You may think about making it so you bed can flip up to the window. But still make it so it's a normal down bed, not a convertable bed. So you can work on your batteries and so you can slide in taller stuff.

I thought it would be neat to take that corner and hinge it with a leg, so you have a full bed. Even though you need to cut that angle off the mattress, you can make that into a pad on its own that sits on top of the corner. All you would need is a way to retain the pad on the corner, like a lip.
@navigationnowhere
@navigationnowhere Жыл бұрын
I was considering adding a leg and having it fold up. Someone else in the comments suggested using the corner piece as a stool. Then at night it could put back to make the bed square again. Thanks for the ideas

You should put a piano hinge somewhere in the middle (length ways) so you can access the solar bay and your under bed storage. For the space under the desk, put in a bottom hinge on the board covering the opening for access under the bed or a hinged cover that will be hidden by the mattress. Looking good, it will be fabulous once it is done.
@navigationnowhere
@navigationnowhere Жыл бұрын
I think I am either going to add a hinge to the bed somewhere where you suggested or have the whole thing open on pistons toward the window....

Having watched you build the original bed with the sliding slats, and the cushions that converted from couch to bed, that was a lot of work. It was astonishing that you just ripped it out and are doing a ordinary bed to occupy that entire space. And can no longer use the office, that lower cabinet won’t open.

If I had the skills, I would have cut out a little area of the bed platform so I could still use the desk. I would then create an insert of some sort that would fill in that area if I needed it for bedding. I travel solo, so I wouldn’t need that wide of a permanent bed.

I love watching you build these campers. I know RV's aren't what you normally work on, but I have one that I'd like to refurbish. It's a 1990 E-350 cutaway Class C. It's in really bad shape, but it only has 80,000 miles and it's paid for. Also, I'm on a SSDI fixed income. lol Just for starters, I need to remove all the Filon and replace it with Aluminum. If you have any ideas where to start I'd love to hear them. Keep up the AWESOME work!

It looks nice, but im telling you that bed is not easy to get out of. Crawling in is ok. Scooting out with a full bladder after sleeping all night is no fun. I had one shaped like yours in an RV. Nobody liked it, but it was better than the bunk that was above it. I really thought you were going to build a 30" or 39" wide bed so you still had access to your desk that you put so much thought into completing. This cut off bed choice baffles me.
