There's something about the colour yellow and black I really like...plus it's a safe colour along with White on our roads; pedestrians and other road uses notice you're there 👍 That First big bus was nice too. Good show Mel.

Interesting that Sean is going gas-free. We'll be starting a new van build soon (ish) and my desire is to have everything electric (apart from the engine, obv!). I hope you'll keep us all updated on his progress 🙂. BTW, Varios FTW! Saw an amazing one on holiday in Wales recently. Unfortunately it trundled past so I didn't have a chance to have a good look.

I love the fact you have a place like this to communalise van builds. Desperately want to find one in west Cornwall, or if none exist, start my own. Any tips? Perhaps there is already a video on starting such a hub?

I drove a slightly shorter version of this one as an ambulance. Provided you do rust prevention and some basic maintenance, they are bombproof. Also, because of their straight walls, much better for a vanbuild than a Sprinter.

I've just finished a merc 518 ex city of London police. Nice Square box and a 3L V6 with 47k on clock. Excellent vehicle to convert

@@BigVanSmallWorld hi Mel, thanks for replying I am in Newport. So the problem I have is my 20 year old Conway Cruiser (a folding camper) this year I have found severe wet rot in the side panels. To carry out a good repair I need somewhere with cover. Would you be able to except this type of unit and what is the cost of renting if it is a goer? Martin

It's the nature of truck derived vehicles and buses, they're all thirsty. It's a trade off, size versus touring. The plus side is having room for a massive stove and full size sofa, extra width etc.

@@BigVanSmallWorld I think they wanted to divert the demand from a bigger van to a much more expensive ( and more profitable ) light goods 7500 kg truck - if you take time to look at what's available with the capacity of the Vario, there's nothing around - doesn' t make a lot of sense - but what do I know....

@fraserhardmetal7143 true, there's just the 5 tonne Iveco and over sized Sprinter. You used to get the Dodge 50 series 5tonne, many years sgo the A series or the Commer walk through and most truck manufacturers made 5tonne models.

@@stuartchapman5171 that's brought back a few memories - my saturday job when I was at Tech. was at a aggregate merchants - they had me doing local deliveries in an A series Transit tipper - third gear was a random event - but a good sized little truck - can't understand the rationale in not making this size of vehicle currently.

@@fraserhardmetal7143 those A series engines were pony though. They spat out timing belts for a past time. They were are larger version of the Ford York delsel. They were notorious for being poor starters. If they carried on making them upto the late 80's they might of got a larger version of the 2.5di Teansit lump. The first time they'd developed a decent deisel.
