Cervélo has a new Áspero gravel race bike with wider tyre clearance, a fancy new integrated front end, and a lower price. Yes, a lower price.
All of these changes result in increased stiffness, so is the bike any good? Warren Rossiter has been riding it to find out.
Are you happy to see a brand reducing the price of its bike? What do you think of the new Cervélo Áspero? Let us know in the comments.

Does the new Cervélo Áspero hit the mark as a gravel bike? Let us know in the comments!

I get that bike companies want to showcase their best models, but that's most likely to be the one they will sell the least of. It would be better to review the lower to mid tier models, which are often the best value, are relevant to moat people and will attract more customers. I'd love a Cervelo, but I'm not cycling a £5,000 rigid bike through the forrest!

Mid tier bike reviews don't get the views, and a good top end model review almost always means a good mid tier review.
@joeymacme

@@RookYZRM1 The new shiny thing always gets views. The title of this video implies good value though, which this bike certainly is not. It's likely the main benefits of the bike in this video (the wheels) will not be available at lower price point models.

@@joeymacme "good value" is a relative term, and what part of the title "implies good value"? I see Comfort = Faster and Cheaper, both seem to be true according to the reviewer.

It's in the thumbnail photo, "CHEAPER". To be 'cheaper' something would have to be 'cheap' to begin with, which this certainly was not. Saying 'less expensive' or 'reduced price' would be fair but saying 'cheaper' is deliberately misleading.

@@JMn-oc7qe as an adjective, the word “cheaper” can be used to describe a price difference genius.

Tire clearance was the biggest reason why I avoided the original Aspero. Glad they increased it

Nice review, but you mention at 6:15 it has an "inline carbon post" where clearly it's a setback model (with a saddle slammed all the way forward), so have you changed the seatpost ? or would just prefer if it came with an inline post ?

No mention of which group set this bike is running ? Looks like Rival AXS from that muddy rear mech but at that price I’d really expect Force. That said the wheel set is excellent.

The updated Reverse 40/44 wheelset is great at this price point. Looks like a fun bike to ride.

The range topping model is Force currently, because new Red Xplr is going to be announced later this year, and then that model will be introduced. It may also make clever use of that UDH hangar. 😉

My 2015 GT Grade is 8.6Kg with Time ATAC pedals, aluminium wheels, and a double chainring, less than 1/2 the price. Are things really improving???

To me this opens the Aspero to more riders in price and geometry. The Old Aspero was just a road bike w bigger wheels. Fast but not necessarily versatile for REAL gravel. Eventually 46 will fall short.

@@SoManyMiles until you need to change the bearings, which on a mucky gravel bike could be more often than is usual. If you're lucky I guess you might never need to change them, beyond a quick clean and re grease.

Although this isn't really aimed at me, at all tbh. I like my slightly more MTB geometry gravel bike. My Gisburn kinda descends steep rough stuff better than my old hardtail MTB, as it's longer and slacker. Especially if the back is weighted down with panniers and a tent!!! Drift that locked back wheel all down those descents, while hanging all your weight as back as far as poss! 😂 (albeit obvs no suspension for proper MTB downhill trails). Lovely looking bike though, I just need more pannier mounts for stupid on and off-road ill-advised adventures!
