I absolutely LOVE this concealer. I am 64 and it is a game changer. Really brightens up my under eye.

As a 59 year old with a few fine lines, I can say this concealer is the best (along with the Tom Ford Shade and illuminate Concealer & Macrene Actives Concealer). I tried many luxury brands and found on me, these three do not crease or emphasize anything if applied with a light hand and slowly built up. They all have great coverage, although Macrene Actives seems to have a little less coverage IMO. I agree, I hate the jar but I love the product. For all Sublimage products, I use the spatula and scrape off any product on the little inside cover and clean the cover. I carefully wipe around the edge of the jar and on inside of lid if any product there. I store product on a level surface. Some product is sacrificed but going forward, the mess is minimal and only requires occasional wiping. I hope one day they put this product in an airtight pump.

I like first reviews to be just the eye shadow pallet your reviewing. But I love seeing videos like this of how you would combo a palette to use everyday. I love that simple everyday look! Thank you. I obviously love the concealer review too but I always enjoy seeing how you do all your makeup!

Agree with you. The concealer looks amazing but sadly poor packaging. It is now 2022 and we need better packaging than a jar

I already tried this concealer and I love it. I don't mind jar because the quality of this product is superior.

It really looks natural and seems easy to apply like a pro. I was waiting for it because I love the sublimate line and all its benefits, but as soon as I saw the jar I was very disappointed. As you said, I also never reach for my foundation because the container is made out of heavy glass, then the big lid, the thin one... two hands sometime aren't enough to maneuver with all of that while holding brush. I'll buy it when they change the container. Thank you for the demonstration!

this is going to be a super unpopular opinion but i love glass jars. here are just some thoughts & my process - the very first time i open one is when i will slide the plastic protector against the rim of the jar to move back as much if not all of the product into the jar. if this is a product that will be leaving the house, i’ll keep the protector on but if it’s sitting in my drawer for the rest of its life i’ll just take it out (usually i’ll wash it & keep it in case i need to put it back). i have several spatulas in use that i clean before & after use with normal alcohol. using the spatula i’ll scoop a little product & put it on the back of my hand, & then use my fingers to tap the quantity i need & dot the product on my face before using a brush to blend in. i never allow the spatula to touch my face. i don’t see any issue with oxygen getting into the jar since this is a cosmetic product & not a skincare item with actives at the top of their list. if moisturisers and eye creams come in jars i think it’s not an issue for a concealer to continue performing as a concealer. whatever skincare benefits there are is just a bonus for a cosmetic product, but i also believe thick glass may protect it more than a thin plastic casing. looking at the sublimage cream foundation & this under eye concealer their consistency seem to be suitable only in a tube. a pump will just get clogged up. and i don’t see how a tube can ever convey luxury to be in line with the sublimage collection. i have face creams, masks, lip balm, eye cream & neck cream that are in jars & always use a spatula to scoop these products out, so i guess for me it isn’t too different a step. i really hope you will use the sublimage foundation & concealer often because you look gorgeous in them ! i’ve only been using sample sizes of the foundation so far & love it, just waiting to finish up another foundation before buying one, & i will try the concealer as soon as i have a chance ! it’s already in store here in singapore so it’s great to see your early review 💗

I’m different than others…..I love the jar. Yes, it’s messy but it’s so so pretty. I actually put some in a tiny Chanel sample jar and that way I’m not exposing the larger jar to the air as often. It’s less messy that way too

I think it looks flawless on you. Another reviewer had similar complaints about the packaging. Maybe it forces you to use it consistently before it spoils and you can therefore see the skincare benefits 🤷‍♀️ She also loved the tiny brush.

You are so sweet. "Stress free Chanel shopping" is my motto now after getting shut out of the holiday bags.

Take some of the concealer or foundation and put some into one of the little glass Chanel sample jars. At least that way only a small amount of the expensive product gets exposed to air

I tried something new because of this video! I too have the sublimage foundation in 30 in the jar. Although it is a beautiful foundation, I don't reach for it that much because of the jar. I agree that the jar makes it a clumsy application process. But, I was always told to use the shade of concealer that matches ones skin. You used a much lighter shade on yourself. I thought it would look awful on me but I decided to try it. I went out and bought a cheap but much lighter shade and used it with the Chanel Sublimage foundation. Wow, it really worked better. I learned that I like a medium to full coverage concealer with a light to medium natural finish foundation. I am 62 yrs old and I think my skin is in very good condition for someone my age. I don't have many wrinkles but I do have thin sunken skin under my eyes with dark circles. The lighter concealer to foundation looked so much better. I have so many expensive concealers (Dior, Chanel, Clea de Peau, Sisley) and the trick is the higher coverage lighter color concealer and and natural finish foundation that matches your skin tone. It took off 10 years.

The “Pixi By Petra Glow Peel Advanced Exfoliating Pads with 20% Glycolic” will quickly and gently get all the Tretinoin dry skin off your face. I’ve tried a variety of these types of pads but this Pixie one is the only one that’s worked. I just leave it on for the prescribed amount of time recommended on the label.

Erin, have you ever tried the Sublimage foundation that DOES come in a bottle with a pump and costs $150? Only available online and at Chanel Boutiques. I like the Sublimage Foundation in a jar but like you, didn’t want to baby the packaging. The liquid in the bottle with the pump at first seems like it gives more sheer coverage but I find you need maybe a dime size, not even one full pump for a full face. It gives great coverage, and blurs my pores really well, covers discoloration. It doesn’t get greasy during the day and lasts all day and needs very little powder to set. I had been struggling with finding the right foundation, even within Chanel, and I didn’t want to spend the $ for Sublimage even though I loved the jar version in the past. The liquid in the bottle with the pump, even better in my opinion. I’m going to go for the concealer based on my love of the liquid foundation.

A jar of concealer with skincare isn't any different than actual cream pots really. A lot of high end companies come out with pots with great anti agin skincare ingredients, don't think I have seen anyone release high end skin care stuff in tubes, or pumps. And since this is a cream I don't think it would have any negative effects. I dunno why influencers always talk about makeup with skincare in pots but never skincare cream pots. Tacha, la mer, chanel, lancome, shiseido etc etc all have creams with anti aging ingredients in pots!

I figured out the trick on how to use the Chanel les beige liquid blushes. You basically had to pump it to your finger and put it straight on your cheek to get maximum color pay off. When I do this, even with the lightest shade I get Color. It’s still blends out fine. It doesn’t lift my foundation underneath.

TRETINOIN (prescription strength RETINOID) is strong! I’ve been on it for years. I wonder what percentage you’ve been prescribed. Perhaps you’ll air well if you put it on over your moisturizer at night. Looking forward to hearing how it works or you.

The question I am thinking is, with a normal concealer in some sort of tube+ wand packaging, wouldn't that also be constantly exposed to air because you push air back in each time you push the wand back in?

I’m 100% with you on jar packaging - it makes me not want to reach for it because it adds time to my routine. They look elegant on your vanity but no so practical in real life. I have this cream foundation from Kanebo(a Japanese brand) that I like but dont reach for often because, as you said, subconsciously I don’t want to deal with it when I’m getting ready to go out. But now it’s getting colder I’m trying to use it up and move on to the next foundation 😹

Have you ever tried the Sisley phyto cernes eclat? It is the best I’ve ever tried *by far* and it comes in a tube with a cool metal applicator. It’s worth the money in my opinion.

I like the brands who have mede their lids magnetic for the purpose of holding the spatula... seems like this would work well here. I put a hair tie around my Chanel jar to hold the brush! lol #luxury

I agree with you about glass jars in general! Cle de Peau's the foundation and the Chanel ones that you kindly reviewed for us: what a shame! I wish they were in a squeezy tube tbh; you don't waste as much product, you don't have to clean those cute spatulas, and they are more protected from outside (sun, air, etc.). I just got mine yesterday and tried it out today. It did not disappoint. It didn’t settle in my lines or wrinkles.yay! Should I first apply the Sublimage eye serum and the moisturizer before I use the concealer?

Great video! The concealer looks amazing. I think I’m going to give it a try although like you, I’m not crazy about the jar. I have to wonder if this will dry out as well. I don’t wear makeup on the daily so kinda wondering how long this will really last. I have been using the Chanel Water Fresh Complexion Touch as a concealer (I accidentally ordered too light of a shade for foundation lol) and it works very well and does not budge. I wish they put the Sublimage in a pump bottle like that. Anyway, thanks Erin!

I do agree it is a headache with this type of packaging. It gets every where. You end up wasting a lot of it. I constantly end up wiping it off my hands and off the side of the jar….. thanks for your review

Jar packaging is inconvenient and messy, and that’s definitely an issue. I would not worry about the efficacy of the ingredients though. Good, reputable companies use preservatives that account for the stability of ingredients, as well as the inevitability of people sticking their fingers in the jar. With a good preservative system, this is a non-issue. If this were a “clean” (🙄) product with no preservatives, then I wouldn’t come near it with a 10-foot pole…but this is Chanel❤️

I don’t get the big. complaint with the jar. The bronze universal also is a “jar” with plastic lid. I’ve managed that fine 🤷‍♀️. I don’t think the jar is enough to stop me from buying or using this product. I’m waiting to finish up my 3-4 half bottles of foundation before I purchase the foundation and concealer set plus setting powder. Can’t wait!

The other Sublimage foundation is in bottle...I adore it. Much more radiant and not as matte. I will buy this, But this is truly the most expensive concealer I’ve ever bought! I’m a glutton for punishment

No traveling with this concealer..... it is a nice product however and I do enjoy using it.

Start slow with tretinoine more potent than retinol, so I don't know what strength you were given but start slow is key.

Initial launch was allegedly Nov 1st, (Most beauty boutiques have not even received testers!)

First of all the color you chose is too light.

When you apply the foundation to your face it’s being exposed to oxygen too 🤷

You would look great with very sheer foundation and minimal eye makeup. You look beautiful anyway but you’re very young and you make yourself older with the heavy makeup. IMO
