I have a great credit score, but Citi never approves me for their “premium” card; I don't know why.

I’ve had the Citi Premier for years and it’s great. I have it combined with the Custom and Double Cash cards and with that trifecta I’ve built a points bank faster than I could have imagined. I also have the Amex platinum which is great for credits and lounge access, but since my preferred domestic airline is JetBlue, Citi offers a 1:1 conversion to TrueBlue points unlike Amex, which is a big benefit of ThankYou points.

@@DailyDrop also with the partnership with Qatar makes a 1:1 transfer to JetBlue even more valuable - QSuites here we come!

@@DailyDrop and JetBlue has new partnerships with Qatar and Etihad so you can use TrueBlue points to book flights with those carriers as well

Pair the Strata with a Double Cash AND a Custom Cash and you’ve got a great Thank You points setup.

I guess I don't see the points benefit for Chase Sapphire Premier being great for me, as I don't travel often & would earn most points by lifestyle purchases (groceries, restaurants, & gas). This is where the Citi Strata Premier seems to earn more points on these categories (3x). Of those categories, Chase only gives 3x for dining & ONLINE groceries. Am I thinking about this wrong - I'd want to earn the most points on purchases I make frequently, right?

I own the Chase trifecta, Amex gold (which I’m considering canceling), and the Venture X. I’m debating if I should get the citi strata or boost my venture x with the savor one card. I appreciate any feedback. Thanks…

I left Citi a few years back when they dropped the travel protections. I'll sit on the fence until Wells Fargo and Citi launch there premium cards.

It has more sense with Travel Protection, Im not a US resident so I can only apply credit cards from Citi or Bofa, Im gonna wait for the new Prestige tho

To add to what you said, that you prefer chase over Citi because of the point value, I choose chase over Citi bc Citi has yet to add an American Airlines as a transfer partner. If they added more partners then Citi would blow away chase

I have the Citi AAdvantage card which does get points for American Airlines but I was unaware that the "regular" Citi cards did not let you transfer points to American. Interesting to find that out!

@@Farbar1955 same. When I found out that I got the Barkleys American airline cc for extra points. You can’t ever transfer from regular Citi cc unless you have a Citi travel cc.

Citi isn’t the only one that transfers to choice at 1:2 Wells Fargo does also but IG people still hate them

WF’s transfer partner list also hasn’t been fully built out yet. Right now, they have Flying Blue but not Virgin.

My QUESTION… if you have a Citi cash back card. Can you transfer the points to the New Premier?? My Dad has like 300,000 points on his Citi Preferred.

British Airways can be done through Citi. You would have to transfer to Qatar first then to BA (Since they're both Avios)

Not digging the fact that it’s a MasterCard instead of Visa, in addition to fewer transfer partners. I’ve presented MC at several establishments, only to be told they only accept Visa. Anyone else???

The only place that’s ever happened to me is at Costco because they only accept Visa.

I agree that Costco is the only place that I know that only accepts Visa. In instances where you’re traveling internationally besides no foreign transaction fees, it’s good to have one from each card network. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. I did that on my last two cruises and it definitely helped.

They could have made a better card design. Its basicaly a Citi Costco card. But this is my favorit card. It replaced my Amex setup sply because i have the option of .01 per point when doing cash back. And a semi one card setup

It’s cheap feeling plastic that scratches easily. The Citi Premier was a higher quality card even while plastic and resisted wear better.
