You could put an “appliance garage” in where the desk is. An area that closes in all your small kitchen appliances when not in use! Then just storage above and below it!

There’s something deeply cathartic about transforming a living space from absolute chaos into a tidy “a place for everything and everything has a place” zen environment. I find that if I get too far behind in keeping with dishes, vacuuming etc, it does affect my mood in a negative way. Finally making an effort to declutter and put everything back where it belongs and cleaner than when I found it, helps in general from feeling overwhelmed and down in the dumps.

I would make it a pantry or a kid station where you can put snacks, plates, dishes...maybe where you can put big appliances so you don't have to bend down and get things. Maybe take it out and put a chalk wall/nook for the kids to be in the kitchen but out of the way.

I agree with the single big sink. I’ve never had one and have wanted one for years! It would have been so nice when my kids were babies to do their baths in there! And it seems like all my pots and pans never fit into the double sink well enough for a good soak. I’m excited to see what you do with the kitchen!! I loved what you did in your last house :)

For the desk area drawers are a great idea! Consider the larger, pots & pans size drawers since you have the space. I found drawers for those items is a bit easier to store and access than squatting down to get to lower cabinets. Or if you're a beverage fridge family, maybe consider that for easy access for the girls. You really can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

For the desk space in the kitchen maybe a super nice pantry with some pull out shelving along the bottom. If you don't have a coffee bar set up yet, that could be incorporated in the middle section somehow. I have no doubt you will come up with something that is perfect for your family. Your house transformations are beautiful! ❤

You should try Grove’s reusable dusters! They work the same as swiffer dusters (honestly, they’re even better in my opinion) and they’re WAY easier on the environment ❤️

Some of the best, videos I've seen I just love, watching you clean Never thought that this, would catch my eye As I don't clean...a typical guy But since watching, I've binged on them all Every night, add a few to the score And in no time, you made me realize After a good cleaning, there's no compromise First with my study, the room I'm in now It was a mess and would raise an eyebrow So to a deep clean and then a new rug It's now so pristine and made me feel smug! From here moving on, to the rest of the house After seeing jaws drop, on my kids and my spouse Such rewarding work, it took a good week But now in the good books, with praises they'll speak So thank you Carissa, for all of your shows I'm now fond of cleaning, up to elbows But I also enjoy it, don't think I obsess And my house thanks to you, no longer a mess!

instead of the kitchen office maybe some large cabinets to use for storage like a pantry or for kitchen appliances, coffee extras or that kinda of thing

Suggestion for the desk area in the kitchen: a bar area. You could do a combo set up for coffee/adult beverages/ soft drinks. Put in a lil fridge underneath, maybe work in a wine rack situation. If it would work construction-wise and if you’re up for it, put in a small sink too.

Suggestion for kitchen desk replacement. Big, deeeeep drawers. Big enough to keep large kitchen appliances or pots and pans. My house came with these huge custom drawers and it’s so helpful.

we got rid of the desk area and did a big built in, with integrated plug sockets. I store bulky stuff (the huge potts I need for the holidays/birthday partys) in it and some electronics (my bread maker/crock pot) that I do not need every day but do want to have easy access to. On one side we have a big free cabinet were I store my ironing board/broom/buckets/...because I did not have a nice way of storing those.

Tip - I have a dark table so I had a piece of glass cut for it and it makes it so easy to clean - I mean it still gets dirty but doesn't show the same way as the darker wood. Also, it's not a big deal if you don't have a coaster bcse it's glass so...... Your home looks great Carissa - I really enjoy your taste in decor!

I was thinking about an appliances display for the kitchen desk. Toaster, coffee machine, kitchenaid, crockpot or pressure cooker ... everything there and all accessories hidden in the cabinets/drawers up and down.

My only kitchen advice (after remodeling ours and having some regrets) drawers, especially big deep ones are SO much handier then cupboards! Also, apparently I use the countertop next to the stove more then any other spot in the kitchen! Wish I had made that space bigger! 💕 Your house looks beautiful mama

I love the idea of drawers on your desk area. We did all drawers and I am amazed how much more space I have. Also like the idea that someone mentioned of an idea of an appliance garage. You seem like a personality that loves clean and not much out, which I too love.

My parents had one of those desks, they took it out moved the fridge over and have a really nice long counter top over drawers for pots and pans and a long row of uppers. The long counter top is v nice bc it acts as a buffet space and it’s nice having just a long span of uninterrupted counter top

I could definitely see the ‘desk’ space become a coffee/drinks bar. Seeing as you already have your coffee machine there you would just pull out the desk and put in cabinets below

For the kitchen, perhaps the space by the fridge could be a coffee station? Maybe open shelving like you had in your previous kitchen. It looked so great!

You have a lovely home! I’m with you those desk areas are such a catch all and make everything feel cluttered. Not sure what styles are now but maybe tall doors, useful cabinetry of sorts, or display shelves. You’ll come up with something. Enjoy your pregnancy and many Blessings.

Why not use your kitchen desk area as a coffee bar? Or an appliance pantry for appliances you don't use often and it's not taking up counter space. Your table why not use an oval table? Still round ish and longer then your small round 1.

You could take the cabinets out and replace them with new one. Use the new cabinet for appliances and on top do a coffee bar set up. If you take down the cabinets above, put up a nice art print.

If it were my house, I would reuse that "kitchen office" as a built-in hutch. If you have nice dinnerware, tablecloths, etc to store, remake that into a built-in china hutch. Also, another idea is to make the open space where a chair would normally go to that "office" desk...make a built in pull-out hidden trash area! Some people put there trash containers in a large cabinet and creat a pull-out system, I find that to be an awesome idea!

I always find if it’s a single sink you don’t have anywhere to tip half drunk tea cups if you already have the sink filled with water….. and sometimes I want to pre rince something before putting it in to the water, otherwise I need to do loads of water changes

Do you have a coffee bar area? You had something like that in your other house..and I have done the slow vacuum since you mentioned it in your video..it is AMAZING what comes out of the carpet ..I got another friend to do it too and she couldn't believe it! I show my husband and my teenage boys when I'm done, however I am the only one who is amazed ..they look at me like I have a problem lol

We put our trash can and recycling can under that little office space in our place. Ours is all one level. The two levels would drive me crazy lol. If you want it level I would probably just install cabinets for extra storage at that point :)

Pro tip: Lysol spray cleaner makes stainless steel look so much better than the stainless steel cleaners. Ever since I made the swap I’m never going back. Seriously, try it!

Are you happy with the size of your pantry? If you don't like the desk, that's what I would do with the space. The framing and drywalling required would probably be less expensive than replacing cabinets/counters in that area, too.
