A new electric BMW iX roads policing concept being used alongside regular police cars and electric Harley Davidson LiveWire motorcycles to escort a march during the UN Climate Change Conference 'COP26' in Glasgow, Scotland, UK.
The new BMW iX is a concept car being offered by BMW for roads policing duties as an electric mobility alternative to the mostly diesel fleet of roads policing/traffic cars in the UK; namely the BMW X5 which can be seen in this video responding with siren and lights to shut down junctions.
Furthermore the Harley Davidson LiveWires have been given to Police Scotland by Harley Davidson for use throughout COP26 as an electric alternative to the current fleet of BMW R1200 police motorcycles.
This is all part of the many steps emergency services, companies and organisations are taking to combat climate change and is the reason for the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP); which in 2021 is being held in Glasgow. 🌍

Same here, mate. I really dislike the front end of the 5 Series G30s as that huge black grill looks awful, and the 3 Series G20s just look overly designed with odd angles, and again the huge grill with the chrome surround... Certainly not my cup of tea.

@@residentelect Yeah, they’re definitely going through a love or hate phase at the moment. Over the last 20 years as I’m sure you know, they seem to have been alternating between the more conservative designs and then radical marmite designs. In the 2000’s, we had the Bangle designs which I liked personally. Then the 2010’s brought in a more subtle look compared to before. Now we’re back to something quite out there.

I don't quite like the livery on the BMW with the weird patterns on it. I'd suggest they stay on the usual flourescent-blue colours and not that colour fitted on it as the flourescent-blue battenburgs are proven to be safer as it increases visibility and eliminate confusions.

Petrol motorbikes are FAR better for the environment than Electric ones. The process of Lithium Ion extraction used to make electric vehicles is one of the most detrimental things to the environment, far more than Palm oil extraction to the Amazon Rainforests. If you want an environmentally friendly vehicle, get a small petrol powered vehicle... such as... a petrol motorcycle. The low amount of emissions they put out is far less damaging to the environment than the manufacturing process of electric ones... not to mention charging them uses fossil fuels anyway. The future is in low emission or synthetic fuels. Electric vehicles is like putting a plaster over a wound that requires stitches. They will last about 10 years, then the damage will be done, all the Forrests and wilderness will be torn up and we'll be looking for a new solution. I dont blame people for buying these electric vehicles as the government is of course screwing over anyone financially who doesnt get one at the moment and will only get worst, but for those who think they're doing something for the environment by buying one, they are delusional. The only benefit is less emissions in cities.. even though the majority of brand new petrol and diesel vehicles are so low on their emission production that they could almost be considered emission free.

I fully agree with your sayings. It is fashion to fool people. In a few more years, we are going to have millions of batteries the size of a refrigerator, and someone saying that the era of the electric vehicle cannot continue. If you really want to lower global warming, you should sit around a table discussing contraceptive methods. We have countries like India, China with 1400 million people increasing their population geometrically. 16% of the planet are Africans, many are born without the minimum subsistence resources. We are going to improve all that with a Harley motorcycle without suitcases, few emergency lights, without a windshield to cover a little the police in winter, a lot of fantasy, very little real

@@chillout1109 They obviously work very different to us in Australia, especially in the larger cities. Our police patrols can go for 6 of the 8 hour shift bouncing from job to job. We use SUVs for our ambulance supervisor and critical care paramedics, which is where an EV might replace an ICE. More often than not they spend the whole 12 hours out and about, with meal breaks basically a between job exercise. Apparently Australia is one of the slowest to embrace EVs with slow sales, and nowhere nearly as much infrastructure as Europe. People here like to tow boats and 3 tonne caravans, and do 1,000km road trips to visit friends and family, so many are waiting for SUV/4x4 sized EVs with long range and towing abilities.

A misconception. EVs are undeniably greener than ICE vehicles and to say otherwise is a spin by those with investments in oil. Don't forget that an electric vehicle isn't pumping out its own toxic fumes from the exhaust pipe to exacerbate pollution caused by power stations. Also about 40% of UK energy is now renewable and often overtakes gas & coal. As further renewables and nuclear plants are made, this number will only continue to grow.
@CobraEmergency
@CobraEmergency 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! Many of the electric vehicles are charged by power generated through fossil fuels which isn't great at all - but it's an improvement on a car that produces it's own pollution. Furthermore electric doesn't necessarily mean heavily pollutive sources either! Wind, solar, hydrogen...etc. are all cleaner sources of electricity. It's all about trying things out and making progress.

@@residentelect That's absolutely fantastic. When I read about your comment I went and looked it up; there's loads going on in agricultural and industrial machinery to have 'greener' engines. Hydrogen, bio-fuels, different gasses...etc. I think it's fantastic. There's a lot of energy sources out there in the world around us. Electric vehicles are just one part of it, and I think it's good to look at the wider picture as always rather than getting too focused on just the one type (in this case electric vehicles).

AWESOME!........though i am from India, I am just very glad that there are new police cars and bikes around! and i really am glad that the vehicles are Electric.......and well that just seriously goes well with the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow......that seriously does make an important point......and as i always believe, "don't just talk the talk, you also need to walk the talk".....you know what i mean.....if not, it's just as simple, it's easy to just talk about things like wanting to change the world for the better and stop global warming and other climate change stuff and yes talks are ALWAYS very inspiring.....but if everyone just talks and talks and does nothing to stop or even try and lessen the climate change, then what's the use of all the stuff people say? what is truly needed is to do what you say and also it is the easiest way to get your point to others that you really care about the planet rather than just say "i love this planet and we need to protect it for our future".....i mean we have lot some stuff that only our parents and the older generations have see and we haven't.....but at the same time i won't lie to you that it's good that we have technology because we actually have things now that we never had before......and also it is through technology that we are aware of how our planet truly looks and the impact of global warming on our planet's climate..... yeah, thinking logically, we might not totally be able to stop climate change, but i am sure that if we at least slow the effects of global warming .......and for that we all do need to start somewhere and i am glad that there is a Conference on Climate change.......but i think that we need to take things slow as well......take one step at a time......and not rush into doing 10 million things at once because i will just say that that optimism will just burn everyone out........ do what you can but do it in steps.....well i am glad to see these clips......anyway i hope you and everyone at your side have an amazingly awesome day today and everyday........may you all stay safe, protected and blessed always.........and i truly hope that this Climate Change Conference goes well..........

They are mostly loaner vehicles on trial. Namely the electric BMW’s, as are the Harley motorbikes. I don’t think these cars are adequate for policing given the milage put on these vehicles daily. Also our emissions are low anyway. It’s up to countries like India to make real change as we could go net zero and have little to no impact on the world

@@Horizon301. true i won't disagree with you........lol......but there are other things that we all can do......but we need to start slow.......i was trying to say here that i am really happy with how many people care about this planet......but there have been few countries who just do or practice what they say like the U.K and some other places around the world......i admit, it really irritates me to see my country in the state it is in but well, i honestly don't like trouble nor do i like getting or putting anyone else in trouble......and one thing i know about myself is that i really don't like to point fingers at other countries or even my own country.......and trust me, you don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to know what you will have to face........i would rather see every one on this planet actually work as one......and that was what i was trying to say in my main post.......we, as youngsters think that nothing is impossible, and i must say that i agree with that because i believe in that as well......but if you think logically how many people truly would be able to even keep one of their words in helping slow the damage done to our planet.....yes, you would definitely do your best in trying to slow this climate change.....but there are other areas where it isn't as easy as you think......i know that as my country's population grows, our traffic grows as well.....and with that our air, earth and water pollution grows as well......though i have seen that there have been people who really try their best to reduce waste and stuff, and my family and neighbourhood are included in those who are willing to keep their environment clean, you can't expect everyone to follow what you say and it is also logically not right to try and force people to do the same......for example, how did Veganism become this huge thing that it has become? it was actually the idea of one single man.....he didn't force people to follow his ideology, people just decided to follow it themselves which is why Veganism is so big (or popular).....but veganism is an extreme form of vegetarianism.....any way i won't talk about this now because it will change the subject......i just gave Veganism as an example where people have CHOSEN to do something out of their OWN free will......and not everyone is that into the stuff of protection of the planet to be extremely honest......people will agree to look after their own areas and the areas where they and their families live, but there are people who will not care a damn no matter how much you or anyone will tell them.....and you just can't change people that quickly if they are already grown ups, well maybe the kids would be happy to be part of the idea, but on the long run, even they will just leave because it will get boring or their parents will tell them to concentrate on their own work rather on things that "others" will do......and trust me, it's not that easy to even start something even a group.....because when i was in my 6th grade, i and an old family friend decided that we ( he and i) start an environmental group and i was in for that because i really loved nature and i really hated to see it being destroyed, but since he was 14 years older to me and was working, he asked me to start it and i was like "what do i do? i am alone.... so how do you get people to hear you out? and support your cause?"....this family friend told me to start out with my friends and out of the friends i had, only one was just as interested in this stuff but to others it was, i'll just put it blunt, worthless and a waste of their precious time.......so out of a handful of friends that i had, just one person was interested......it's easy to say that countries like India need to make a change.......if you have ever lived or even visited India even once in your life, you will see how hard it is to (again i'll be blunt) KNOCK SENSE into people who just always think that money is everything......people work like donkeys here and are still not satisfied..... you can tell people to change, but you can't force people to change if they don't want to....people need to start small because like i said before in my main post, you will start like a huge wild fire but then soon you end up burning out because you want to do too many things at once.......do the things that you think is right, but do it in small steps and don't expect to think that everyone HAS to do the same.....starting small is good enough for me and doing my part is just as good too.....i will do my part, but it's up to everyone as well to do their part and some will do, while some will not...... Okay, look i am not calling you out on what you replied @Horizon301, actually i am glad you actually had the guts to call me out on that message! honestly.....but well, you and i and other people who are willing to change or make this world a better place, can just do what we can as individuals who are willing to try and help slow this climate change.......sometimes even if you tell someone to pick up the empty paper cup you may have seen them throw on a side-walk/footpath/pavement and to throw it in the bin close by, they will just look at you and laugh and say "well, everyone does it....so are you going to go and tell everyone to pick up their thrash the way you told me?" and in India, i have seen people just do things like spit on the road and other stuff, and i have called them out.....but they just glared at me like "who are you to tell us what to do?"..... plus people don't care that much....... so all we can do is just do our part and not say things like "It's up to countries like India to make the real change as we could go net zero and have no impact on the world" and expect everyone or even a whole country to do their part immediately......and yes sometimes it takes courage to face being called out.......and i have had my share of being called out in the past, and i have been scared to face it.....but now that i am 34, i really don't mind being called out because i say what i think is right...no matter how long my reply may be.....and i don't mind calling people out as well, and it takes just as much guts to face being called out as being able to call someone out, and never hide when being called out.......... Anyway, i hope that you and everyone at your side have an amazingly awesome day today and everyday no matter where you are......stay safe, protected and blessed always..........

@@rebeccafionacornel6558 The issue with India is it’s an LEDC and there is still rife poverty throughout. People fighting for survival don’t tend to care for the environment. Who would blame them though, it takes considerable effort and resources to be more green and these people are trying to survive. Furthermore, as it becomes more developed and the middle class grows, we will see they too will demand cars, electronics, appliances etc thus their carbon footprint will increase as will India’s total emissions. I see it getting far worse in India and China before it gets better. Developed nations have already has their day with the vast development that causes a spike in output so we are in a better place to reduce. I will try to be sustainable but I don’t care for all of this climate change nonsense as too often there have been claims of cities under water from US classified reports or scientists from 20 years back and it’s all total rubbish. They have lost most of their credibility when they say this time is for real each time they speak. Have a good one now.

@@Arsenic71 We easily have 800+ years of oil and gas to find an alternative instead - like hydrogen - need to mass produce that somehow. So, until we can reliably get hydrogen efficiently enough, gas and oil is most efficient form of power.
