I would absolutely love to see them through an airbrush, and in some cases blending with them as the existing range blends rather well. Loving the new greens and reds. The range was missing a vibrant, bright red and these 3 news ones are just that.

Imperial fist yellow is the best, because it does one of the hardest things to achieve in one of the most simple ways imaginable. decades painters all over the world have worked so hard to get that yellow look. and now it comes straight out of the bottle. And even for contrast, which imo doesn't look great on flat panels, like space marines, the imperial fist yellow even looks good on flat panels. Good job on that one GW, you knocked that one out of the park. I agree with the dreadfull visage one. It would have been better if it was 1:1 with the standard paint with the same name.

Really liked this format, was a nice watch with a brew and my breakfast, felt like a conversation rather than a script.

I really really like that Luxion Purple. Looks great.

Fuegan Orange isn't a new shade color. The new formulation definitely looks different though. I just tested a mix of old Fuegan + Contrast Medium 2:1 and it looks fairly similar to the new Fuegan. For fun, I went and tried the same ratio of old Fuegan and Lahmian Medium and it also looks like the new Fuegan, but with way too much surface tension when compared to pure Fuegan or Fuegan/Contrast.

Imperial Fist Yellow is absolutely amazing. Achieves what other paint ranges fail to do in such an easy way that it could be the new standard of painting yellow. I also like Soulblight Grey because for me painting shadows on white is a pain in the ass and this enables me to shade over a white basecoat and built it back up afterwards. Didn't really like their "old" Apothecary White for that purpose.

Probably the most exciting release for me in a couple of years! I never have the time to play any more, but more paints I can always get behind!

I'm quite new on my painting journey (May 2021) and haven't tried contrast paint yet but I'm going to order some of the new stuff. Reading the comments here and some the stuff you said in the video has shown me how narrow my skill set is at the moment, I'm interested to try these new techniques so thanks for that.

While it would take a lot of work, I would love to see what the new Contrasts look like over the GW metallic sprays. I loved using version 1 contrasts to tint metallics and really curious how these fair.

I'm so excited about the Imperial Fists contrast paint, because that's a finish I would NEVER have been able to achieve, and I know painters have struggled to achieve for years. I'll actually try my hand at yellow now, and even probably find it enjoyable!

Contrasts will mostly go over the base color to add depth, a lighter contrast goes on after a shade wash then you finish with a layer paint for some edge highlighting or a light fade effect. Most of the contrasts are washy for this reason they go over the base either darker tone or lighter tone depending on your style and taste. great video!

My first marines were Vallejo Royal Purple and a leviathan purple wash. I tried shyish purple when I came back but it had too much burgundy to it. I might have to try the new leviathan purple contrast. The luxion purple looks really good too though.

Yes, interested in seeing how they go through an airbrush, all of my Primaris Dark Angels have been Contrast paints through the airbrush, with dry brushing between layers.

Great video! It sounds like Imperial Fist yellow is a must buy if you're ever doing yellow. A shame the Daemonette skin tone one wasn't more opaque, I have a Daemonette squad I'd swap to using that for if it were. An airbrush video for these would be fantastic, I've not seen other content creators try that yet.

Is the black legion coverage any different than the black templar contrast paint, aside from the matte finish? Other reviewers noted it is pretty dark directly from the pot, did you see the same thing? I’m curious if the white scar spray is going to better suited as a primer than the grey seer, or if the “highlights” just become less dominant with the slightly darker primer.

Ciara : Have you been tinting your hair, making it darker? As I sat and noted a distinctive red shadowing along your hair line and wonder if that was meant or an abstract of the dyes used. Prior to this I watched Ninjon's visit and speculation about these paints, so saw you and Olly sat on the end of the line out, awaiting which paints to try out. But as I told Ninjon I bought Space Dust and its two brother/sister box sets from Vallejo and find them, just as good as contrast could ever become - so will not be wasting my spare cash on those. Look I will not tolerate ArmyPainter Speedpaints slander here, since I've been reborn since I've got my hands on them(after my immense disappointment with many, MANY contrast paints) but I will just say that I hope my local game store gets those new contrast paints ASAP as I want, nay I NEED the Iron Warriors one, the Sigvald Burgundy, the Sewer one and perhaps the Magenta, Striking scropion green and either the Kroxigot or the Emerald one...for a start. I just have to see them on zenithal and if they react to it as well as I hope(as in good, deep dark shadows and vibrant contrast with the pretty colours) then I can see myself picking up speed with my painting, even if it's just for some boardgame minis and not neccesarily for ones I've built. Thank you for the video...made me add like half of the ones I listed here to the list of needs. xD

That was a good demo, that Sewer color looks interesting, but my biggest “thank you” is for confirming that the shade pots are shrinking; I’ll be stopping at the FLGS on my way home to snag a Nuln or Agrax (if there are any).

They yellows really don't look like a contrast paint. They look like they apply completely flat. That seems great if you don't usually like contrast paints but need a good yellow. I'd love to see all these through an airbrush, particularly over metallic primers. A great way of painting heresy era marines.

I just got the Age of Darkness box with the intent to do the whole box Imperial Fist. So that Imperial Fists yellow is going to be really good for me. Although, I'm a little torn as I think I almost prefer the shade of the Iron Jawz Yellow. I know you both loved Imperial Fist Yellow, but is there any argument to be had for Iron Jawz Yellow? Like how big of a difference is there in the finish of both? Also, I really want some of the Leagues of Votaan models when they arrive but I want to avoid the boring white armour. I was eyeing up a similar colour scheme to the Blood Bowl Dwarves and I think that Kroxigor Scales could be just what I need. I'm considering Aeldari Emerald for the Corsair Killteam i'm yet to build and paint. I love the Striking Scorpions Green but have no idea where i'd use it. I think I need to invest in some of these paints. My pile of shame is too big now and some quick paints would be amazing. I just always feel like i'm cheating using a contrast. But I need to get over that because I have 40 Tactical Marines need painting yellow. And I don't have the time or energy to paint like 30 thin layers of yellow.

I am actually super hyped for the new contrast range and white scar from GW. I really want to try and put down either mortarion grime or targor rageshade over white and then hit it with the imperial fists yellow to see the result. From the videos I've seen, IF yellow gives a great overall color, but not great contrast, so I'd be interested to see if adding a pre-shade would help define the panel lines and really speed up painting IF.

Are those new paint pots? How well does it stay open? The color ontop was painted on? Zenithal model? I never picked up on the contrast paints. More testing? How they mix with other paints? They look like ink paints. Do they compre to the old line? Still not convinced. Helpful none the less

Looks like some solid new additions. Just like the first tranche of Contrast people will find a few useful colours to add to their arsenal. Still like the standard paints though for coverage and control. Perhaps it's the minis/schemes I paint as well but find that the Contrast don't help with speed painting for my selections. Can see how they would but I just don't have those type of minis/schemes (yet).

What did you use to thin? Medium, isolated, water or airbrush thinner?

Not sure as of yet, which if any I would buy. If I choose to do imperial fist in HH then I would buy your No1 choice. I love the bases though, where did you get them from?

If GW wont make dropper bottles they should put mixing ball in thier pots. The contrast paints could def use a mixing ball. Takes forever to shake up a pot of contrasts

Wish I'd watch this first!! lol.. bought the Visage purple for my ghostly models from Old Dominion for Conquest and was super sad by it... lol... but yeah.. it's now a glaze or shade and not a first layer... lol.. oh well... live and learn and paint some more.

Karandras green and scorpion green would make great and quick Goblinoid skin imo.

Enjoyed the video but I feel compelled to make a correction. Speed paint reactivation is not a flaw. It is a feature. And don't use water with them, use the speed paint medium. You can easily use the reactivation to your advantage.

Did you add agitation balls? Sounded like there was something in pots when you were shaking :)

Aaah, I didn't see Nighthaunt Gloom had been reformulated!! Doesn't look anything like it does now and I've used it on my 7k points Nid swarm... better grab a few more pots before they disappear off the shelves.
