Favourite new one was probably the corydora pantanalensis. At home I have pygmy, habrosus, and false julii (trilineatus). I guess I am lucky because my LFS has at least 8 different kinds that I have seen. My favourite there is probably the Sterbai, although trilineatus are very close.

Don't know why this video hasn't been included in my feed till now. That CW153 is somewhat bizarre. I really like Characidium species and Corydoras species, but this species seems to be a blend of the two genera, which is mind-blowing. I would love to go and study the ecology of this species as it deviates from the typical body shape of the genus.

About CW169 and its political state. It is now made easier to be collected, but since February this year, there has been an export regulation on some species of Corydoras from Columbia. This includes C.deckeri, which is now a junior synonym of C. Loxozonus and sometimes regarded as a variation of C. Axelrodi. This means no, or less, CW169 are to be exported from Columbia for the next 2 years.

in July/August at the latest. For Corydoras you would have to ask Ian what he has planned.

Beautiful fish, every one of them 👍 Imports from the US have again begun but boy talk about expensive 😳; a single neon tetra costs TT$25 or about Can $4.66

Awesome video! Like that there are so much background infos explained with every species. Do you have info or maybe a video with/about C. concolor? I want to set up a biotope tank for them with one more Cory species and Satanoperca mapiritensis. Can you name C.-species which occur with them? Would help a lot! 😊
@belowwater
@belowwater Жыл бұрын
Yes, we will make a video with C.concolor in it in the future. Farlowella sp., Parotocinclus eppleyi, Paracheirodon axelrodi, Hemigrammus stictus are some of the species in the same place.

@@belowwater Awesome, looking forward! But can you confirm that S. mapiritensis share the same habitat like C. concolor (occasionally)? I want to add an eartheater cichlid to the tank… 😄
@belowwater
@belowwater Жыл бұрын
@@hoefnerfishing i doubt that, the Mapirito is close to the mouth of the Orinoco, the C.concolor habitat has S.daemon, and the colourless weird Satanoperca (that could be the same as S.mapiritensis) found in the middle Orinoco. Biotodoma wavrini is also there, and could be a better choice. Adults are fantastic fish, but i have never seen someone grow B.wavrini to the same colour in the aquarium, with the metallic blue on their back.

Did he say that C. Pantanalensis and Geryi are not difficult to breed. Please explain yourself. I only know of 1 person who bed both of these and they are not letting the cat out of the hat.

My guess the CW153 is a new genus instead of Corydoras because of their different morphologies. The geofreoy might be put in Scleromystax...

How is it possible that we still find new species till this day? You sure it isnt the aquarium fish industry who are making these breeds like with guppies?? Like pantanalensis is way too beautiful
@belowwater
@belowwater 5 ай бұрын
_C.pantanalensis_ was described over 20 years ago. Tropical diversity is just that high, and fish that do not move around much tend to evolve into hundreds of species like this. There are not enough fish taxonomists, and too many small rivers, so the number of new and unknown species is just that high.
