In this video, Gabriel discusses the features of the new DASS night stretching AFO from Surestep. DASS stands for Dynamic Adjustable Stretching strap.
“ long-term, low-load, progressive stretching” has been shown to be very effective to help improve range of motion. This new design is intended for children, width a variety of conditions, such as toe-walking cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, and any other condition, which may lead to range of motion loss.
Night stretching AFOs can be used as a conservative method to maintain or improve ROM in conjunction with, or in place of, other therapeutic techniques, such as Botox injections or serial casting.
This new dynamic stretching AFO design, provides a lot of improvements over previous Bracing designs, including reduced weight and bulk, improved, adjustability, dynamic and progressive, stretching capability,adjustable stretching tension and a new goniometer Inc. into the ankle joint, which allows parents and medical providers to actually see and document progress that is being made.
