Don't think his absence would affect his football play during the season. Don't know if it's going to vintage AR or a 40 year old coming off an achilles injury but it's not because he missed 3 days of mandatory camp that determines if he can sling the ball in 2024/2025 season . What it affects is the leadership and example a franchise QB sets for his team. You can't go on TV and say the team has to be 100% in on football 24/7 and not have distractions in the building and then go out and generate distractions all summer. You can't compare the situation with Brady because Brady went to Tampa and won a superbowl and it wasn't until the 3rd year when he retired/untired that all the drama started with is divorce. And if anything, it goes to prove that the distraction it caused was real. Tampa had the worst season of his 3 years there, and a I'm sure a big part of that was due to the fact that TB was not "all in " that year.

I think it’s total bull crap, period. Any vacation that the man wants to take or wanted to take can be done from January through April. I wish I had four free months to plan on and go on vacation. I don’t care if it’s in shorts, it’s a mandatory. He is supposed to be the unquestioned leader of this team, he is the the one that must set the example, he is the one who said the tone has to change in the building and he misses mandatory training camp. It’s a piss poor example from a guy who missed 99.9% of last season. He should have been there for many reasons, the quality of the practices has nothing to do with it. The optics suck here.

Who cares? This season will tell the story. He has a lot to prove. One SB in 18 years even with really good rosters - nothing to write a column about. A gazillion MVPs. Nice, but let's see him lead a team to championships. He is really good, but in the second tier of greats. The greats get win Super Bowls (plural). He must do it this year. He doesn't get a warm-up. Brady did it in TB and if he wants to be top tier, he needs to do it this year in NY.
