Yes I've tried the new Eden Roc eyeshadow. I was not impressed with the pigmentation. It is buildable but colours are light. I've also tried the blush you used & don't care for it either. It seemed to stay "purple/pink " on me - I'm 64 so that didn't look so good. I think if you are young you can wear anything.

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I JUST checked - both my old-formula backstage blushes AND old-formula backstage eyeshadow palettes have the same "use within"-thing that you mention here! The blushes said 12 months on the packaging before too- The eyeshadows said 6 months on the packaging. So I don't think it's a clean beauty thing, in this case, since they didn't change it. That said - my blushes and eyeshadow palettes are both several years old by now, and they are still fine to use. I don't use the PRIMER in the palettes anymore, because that is a cream product, but the powders are perfectly fine. No strange smell, they look the same, they perform the same, they don't make my skin break out or itch or anything at all, so they are definitely perfectly fine. (I have quite sensitive skin, so I am confident my skin would complain if the products I put on it had gone bad!)

The people that don’t like the backstage packaging are often not the people it was designed for. It shouldn’t be compared to the main line as has a completely different set of driving requirements . As you rightly said, it’s a line designed for working make up artists . They need it light weight to carry around in kits so plastic is perfect, have no need for mirrors (that add weight and break) , and need to be able to quickly see what they are grabbing , particularly at shows or on a job when they are in a rush and looking for specific shades so transparent cases are ideal . For these requirements and the actual original target users, the packaging is 100% successful and the quality and luxury is where they need it , in the product itself.

I really like the look of the palettes. I prefer transparent casing on my eyeshadows. I have far too many to remember the colours in each palette. I would be happy if all my palettes were like this.. Would save a ton of storage too

Angela, it seems that Dior's grand reformulation of its products have been one huge disaster. I can't tell you how many dedicated Dior collectors, such as myself, will not be re-purchase the great majority of products again. What made me click onto your video so fast, was the Backstage Eye Palette. I've collected each one from when they came out, including the Limited Edition releases. It's not the end of the world that there isn't a primer, yet I did quite like it in the palette and found it convenient. I never felt the palettes as flimsy either. What we mustn't forget either, is the Dior Quint Shadows have an expiry date of only 6mths, long before any thought of reformulation. To be honest, I believe this 'use-by' date as simply being a marketing ploy to make customers concerned and then throw away good quality make-up with not a thing wrong with it. People around the world are starving, homeless and living in war zones and these multi-billion dollar companies want us to throw away money this easily? Not I. This would mean that I should have thrown away long ago, every Dior Quint and Backstage Eye Palette that I've bought last year that cost me the earth, down here in Australia which cost thousands of dollars! I'm not about to let some ultra-rich company dictate to myself how long I will keep my products. I'm still using Dior's products from last year and haven't had the slightest issue at all. Where is their evidence? Again, I say this is simply a marketing ploy to fool gullible customers into buying much more than they would ever need for the sake of vanity. With Dior considering signing a certain 'runaway, whiney, talentless, ex-royal' now living in the US, that would be that last straw for me to cut all ties with Dior. They have just turned the majority of their customer base away by reformulating their products badly, whilst still not 100% clean and continuing to test on animals by still selling in China! How has this changed anything? They're no cleaner now, yet worse off with below grade products. If Indie Brands can make excellent cosmetics that keep customers coming back, whilst being cruelty-free and vegan with no animal testing plus nowhere near the budget that Dior has, it certainly makes you wonder what Dior is playing at? They couldn't care less that Australia or New Zealand exist and will constantly deny us products, yet when they do, they're at phenomenal prices. There are plenty of other brands that deserve my custom, not those who do not care to even stock us with goods. We still haven't received a single new reformulated item! So long Dior.🇦🇺💖🕊

I think the new Dior Backstage eye shadow palette looks absolutely beautiful on you, Angela! I hope it lasts longer than it says on the packaging. The Hermes and Westman Atelier’s powder both look great! If I have to choose, it would be the WA side, because it has more of a blooming effect. I wouldn’t repurchase the new Dior Backstage foundation, too. I don’t think it works like it used to in hot weather. Thank you, thank you for your reviews as always, Angela! I agree with you concerning the foundation. I was able to get a sample. It just didn’t wow me. Thank you for another fabulous video. The eyeshadow is an easy pass for me. It’s so similar to so many shadows.😊

Packaging reminds me of the old viseart packaging. Still have a few of those and refuse to toss them out (product is 75% usable). Lightweight packaging like this keeps the cost down, the product instantly visible, and lightweight, and fits a lot of makeup spaces stacked horizontally or vertically. I like it.

I believe all Dior eyeshadow palettes always had 6 months expiration, at least Newley and immediately prior to them reformulated quints. Very pretty shades , great review, my friend❤

Angela, I’m glad your reviewing the new reformulated Dior products. I have previous Dior Backstage eye palettes (Amber Neutral & Bronze Neutral) and really like them. This new one I’m surprised is only good for 6 months. Some of the shades look similar and they look pigmented. I like both the Hermes & WA powder on you. Your skin looks flawless!! The foundation never worked for me, I won’t try it again. I am in love with my new Dior quint you recommended and the Rosy blush is divine. I followed your advice to apply not too much because it darkens a bit on the skin and you are absolutely right. It worked out perfectly for me. Thank you!

Oh no! So sad to hear about the reformulated foundation. That is my holy grail and I'm almost out. I have oily skin and the old formulation was perfect for my skin. I've kind of had it with "clean" beauty. Makeup Forever ruined the HD in my opinion and that was my other go-to foundation. It's getting so hard to find products that work and last. I had so many foundation disappointments in the past year.

It is not the same...color is different and does not dry down and stays sticky and shiny on skin. I just received my new one yesterday. They ruined a good thing:(

It is so clearly a reach to the current trends and milking them. The cleaner it is, the more it appeals to a wider audience, and the more one has to buy over the course of time. We still don't know how these lean, clean, green, vegan ingredients will work long term. It really reeks of virtue signalling at our expense.

@Angela van Rose I commented right after you applied and then saw your multi-hour updates. It still looked like the WA maintained the best finish overall. I agree too, that from the cost of many of these items, to only have them last a short time makes it hard to justify the purchase. I will go out on a limb and guess that: A) A lot of people already have holy grail eyshadow primers that they use, and ignored the primer in these palettes. Might have received some complaints about it feeling like a waste of space. B) Another complaint about the primer - it gets messy af. A cream product surrounded by powder products, with no extra barrier to protect it from the powders? Doesn't take long before it feels and looks quite gross, even if you carefully wipe it with a paper towel or something after every single time you use the palette. C) The primers are not translucent. I am pale enough that they looked almost too dark for my liking, when I put them on my eyes, and I can imagine that people with darker skin might have the opposite problem; removing the tinted primers makes the palette more inclusive. D) Cream products, or any products containing much moisture, are infinitely harder to disinfect properly (Idk if you even CAN disinfect it properly!). When they are in open containers like this, that are not air tight, and you touch them with your fingers or brushes, etc, bacteria will be introduced to it VERY quickly, and they might grow mold or other nasty stuff that you don't easily see. If you're very unlucky, spores might even transfer to the powder shadows. Taking it out most likely gives the palettes a better shelf life, and all-around makes the palettes more hygienic; which is definitely something professional makeup artists HAVE to think of! And no - the new formulation does not have a shorter official shelf life than the old one. My old palettes also say 6 months on them.

Hi Kara :) Both powders are great for blurring and they work best for dry or dehydrated skin. The Hermes powder leaves a bit of a white cast so if you have deeper skin tone this might be an issue. With Westman Atelier you have more color options to choose from. If I had to choose a favorite it will be Westman Atelier. xoxo

I loved the Dior original formula for my oily acne prone skin. I just received the new formula and the color is different from the original and does not dry down as well. It remains sticky and a shine to the skin. I am not happy with the new formula and will continue with my Chanel foundation going forward. So sad they ruined this perfect long wearing formula:(

@@kateaye3506 I use the Chanel Ultra Le Teint. It can be used for medium to full coverage. I apply it with a brush to sheer it out. It stays on all day and soft matte finish looks like skin.

RIP dior. The backstage foundation and OG blush formula were my faves. I have half a foundation left 😢 looks like the new one doesnt have dimethacones either...? All eye shadows from dior are 6months even the quints... i have OG quints older than 6 months i still use. No way im chucking them now they refomulated

Just ignore this ridiculous use-by rubbish. As the other person who replied stated - it's just a scam! Never in my 55yrs of life have I heard anything as absurd as a use-by date for powdered make-up products. We're not fools. We can easily tell if a product has gone off or not. I've never had anything go 'off' that I've owned yet. They simply want to frighten the public into buying as much as they can, no matter what their financial situations are. It's extremely low of then and all the other brands to do this. I've had some of my Backstage Eye Palettes for almost a few years and they haven't got up and walked away! Anyone who pays attention to this garbage isn't thinking straight. I believed that Chanel's Tweed Quads last year were simply a cash grab, especially as there was nothing special about them. To hear people getting excited over a 'tweed' fabric case, that most of us hate on all other palettes, was simply embarrassing to hear. These companies will use whatever means they can to go for the almighty dollar. When I mentioned this use-by rubbish to a woman I knew a few days ago, she was truly shocked. Although, not a big make-up user, yet younger than myself, she was quite taken aback. It's only a way to push the next release on us. Dior is sitting on the fence with their new reformulations tanking and should be doing all they can to get customers back, not push even more away.💖

That’s why I don’t really buy any eyeshadow palette, blushes and finishing/setting powder that labeled as clean. I tend to keep ky eyeshadows and blushes for years 😞, so sad to hear many of dior products are now clean.

I’ve had a couple of those backstage palettes for a more than a year and they’re still good so i wouldn’t exactly pay attention to that 6 months expiring thing

@@LouTube19 I own every single Backstage Eye Palette that has been released and they are all in prime condition. We know ourselves when something is wrong. If Dior think that I'm going to throw away the two L/E Palettes that I bought at Christmas, they can think again.💖

I didn't get this foundation because of the Alcohol in it. To be honest all my foundations for 25 years now have been Chanel, and twice I had Dior foundations which were ok for me. I was very interested in purchasing Backstage eyeshadows but if they develop hard pan for example after six months then that is a no no for me. I have had Chanel eyeshadow palettes for years and years and they work just fine. I wouldn't use a creamy product after expiration but with powders I do with absolutely no problem at all. If they all turn to "clean" beauty, which for me is not that important (animal testing is more important obviously), and they do last 6 months that would be a deterrent for me to repurchase.

The new "clean beauty" tendency seems strange to me. Makeup is supposed to provide beautiful lasting finish, but not to take care of the skin. With new "clean beauty" products we get neither beauty, nor lasting power, nor skin care. What are they meant for is a mystery...
