I have the DJI Pocket 3 and the iPhone 15 Pro Max and to me the Pocket 3 shoots better video than the iPhone 15. I took it to my trip to Las Vegas a few days ago and I used both and the DJI video looked better in day and night. So from now on whenever I need to shoot video I use my Pocket 3 and for photos I use my iPhone 15.

Pocket 3 is extremely popular. It's smaller and has mechanical stabilization, and you get good kit with the Creator Combo version. DJI New Zealand has sold out already but said they should be getting another shipment in by early December 2023.

I bought the pocket 3 a week ago and am very happy with the upgrades from my pocket 1 and 2.Thanks for your video .I watch as many as I can ....I have used the 5 preset options to create my own quick draw settings ,one of which has my own low-light preferences that I prefer over the dedicated Camera option.

Everyone was reviewing the expensive bundle which is fine but it's sold out and it's way more expensive so it's dope that you went out and got the standard bundle yourself. Way more realistic and relatable for most people

Thank you for mentioning the awful green flares on the iphone. Not everyone talking about filming on the iphone mentions it. Pro- Res is amazing but not as Pro the moment those green ovnis show up on the footage. Not that pro. That's the one reason I don't use mine at night, unless if I can control the lighting conditions. Otherwise, the Pocket 3 does an amazing in low light and even at the regular video settings with D-Log and perhaps some minor NR in post. The Pocket 3 is definitely a must have!

I definitely use both my iPhone and the DJI Pocket 3, but I do high risk stuff like mount the Pocket 3 to the outside of my car, attach it to a 25 foot pole to get drone like shots in drone restricted areas and mount it to my boat. I don't wan't to risk my phone, which I rely on to run my business, so the pocket is a perfect companion for my shooting needs... The DJI Pocket 3 along with my DJI Air 3 drone covers about 90% of my shooting needs before I need to break out my Fuji X-H2s and a gimbal.

man! if you are doing those things, I think you better buy a cheap action camera. as far as I know the pocket 3 is not water proof and you could actually break the gimbal doing crazy sport stuff.

I appreciate your comments regarding “when” and “how” you use your osmo vs your phone. I am old school, and although it’s nice to be able to use your phone for all of these cool things, but for (and I am talking about me ONLY) at the end of the day, I use my iphone, almost exclusively, for talking and texting.

What a pretty cool camera and it’s incredible to see the footage we’re able to capture from such relatively small devices compared to your standard bulky mirrorless cameras. One thing I really enjoy about the iPhone 15 Pro is how efficient it is to edit on it. I often use LumaFusion to edit 4K HDR content for my channel and it’s truly like having an editing studio in my pocket. I also have the 512gb model so space is generally not an issue. Great video comparison!

For my Vlog shooting everyday, I am now satisfying with the very versatile combo: caught on action with Go 3 (everywhere everymove outdoor that need to get quicker and no getting much attention of the people + iPhone 15 Pro for the details or focus subjects (foods or scenery, low light/ indoor). Pocket 3 is seem to be nice but to get one more device that cost me half a thousands for the same functions and also make me more care/storage/apply for everyshot totally is not an ideal. Thanks for sharing and good clip consequently, Bro!

@@DanielVanDyck For the audio, the Iphone and Go 3 do more than fine for me actually. The battery for Iphone is ok for decent usage but Go 3 need to juice up more, (everytime it is in rest I would connect with the battery pack of 10000mah)

Pocket 3 is pretty awesome. It actually encourages me to shoot more because of the ease of using it. Have you figured out a way to transfer videos from P3 to a Mac directly? I have a intel Mac and can't download the Mimo app unfortunately... Thanks for the video

I got them both because they fill completely different uses. If I were walking around or filming things with movement I'd pick up the osmo. If I were trying to get details, or shots that needed more length, I'd use the iPhone. Different tools for different uses.

With the Osmo pocket 3 nobody need to spend double the price or more in Iphone only for the zoom. Osmo is far superior.

Regarding your situation, we are sorry to inform you the main camere battery cannot buy singlely, we recommend you to buy the battery handle to help yo solve this issue. This could also help you solve the battery life issue." So you trow away the Pocket 3 in 2 years maximum when battery no longer charges.

I really liked the content of this video. Thank you! Everyone always talks about how great the iPhone camera is but no one ever addresses the difficulties around using one as your main camera. I purchased my first iPhone last year because of the camera system and I quickly became frustrated with it. For one try getting nd filters for it. Then when you find some watch how the reflection from the iPhone bounces light around under the filter and ruins your footage. I ended up 3D printing my own housing so that each camera has it’s own “private” section of the filter. So sadly I have been looking for a suitable alternative I just wish the lens wasn’t so wide as I don’t vlog. Do you think the DJI Pocket 3 would be suitable for nature\travel videos?

Why u use ND filters anyway? You cannot truly control exposure and shutter on iphone anyway. Just add motion blur on post, dont fiddle with nd on phones, no one is gonna see a difference. Dont use only because some youtubers said it is cinematic way of shooting…

Great video dude. I’ve always said if you’re just strictly for short social media, (instagram TikTok) use a Phone. If you’re professional and more KZfaq focused, use a real camera. Pocket 3 is perfect.

Won't it be better to have an option to adjust the sharpness of the footage in the iPhone instead the need to film with such huge file size just to able to get lower sharpness footage? It can already change the picture style to be warmer or cooler right, hence its good enough, do third party app like Black Magic and Filmic Pro can change the sharpness directly? Do these apps record raw signal or only able to access processed data like how some apps on Android didn't get optimised to get the raw signal but direct screen capture like the Instagram app?

I live in Beijing, China and it's the friction between using my phone for digital payments on the subway, bus, calling taxis, and other digital payments. Also the awkward filming with the back cameras when you are out in public. This make me want to osmo as my next vlog camera.

The external card or hard drive for shooting in prores log on the iPhone is just needed, if you want to shoot in 60fps though. If 24fps or 30fps are enough for you, you won't need that extra bulk. Great video though, will get my Pocket 3 soon too!

True, but the file sizes are massive on the iPhone in ProRes Log so I’d still recommend using external storage

Do you know if you can automatically tag location with Oslo pocket 3? For me is a deal breaker since I want to take advantage of the photos app to filter using places or the memories for some vacations. Of course I don’t want to tag one by one, it could be great if it uses my iPhone’s GPS.

I think a good question to ask is: If you already have an iPhone should you invest another 700 for the DJI Osmo Pocket 3, or, buy a much cheaper DJI gimble or Insta 360 Flow 170USD which gives your iPhone all the features that the DOP3 has!

Exactly. The basic starting point should be the fact that no matter what - you will already own a phone. Now you need to decide if the advantages of the Osmo worth an EXTRA $700, and an extra device to carry around - it will never be this OR the other. The phone will be with you no matter what.

Plus the iPhone is less likely to overheat if doing high frame rate recording which the Pocket like a lot of these types of small action type cameras do.

The Pocket 3 seems pretty good for vlogging, with its form factor and rotation screen. I think most front cameras on phones are really trash (and might have less stabilization).

I've iphone 13 mini & insta360 & I really want to buy the dji Pocket 3, but I feel like it's more of a want than a need. These reviews about the dji have me tempted. But I'm also thinking maybe I should use my iPhone more. Would you say the combo of iphone 13 mini for vlogging & insta360 for creative shooting are good enough combo? I really want the dji, but i also feel like im falling for this shiny object syndrome.

Great comparison topic and review! I hope the quality on the Pocket 3 in 60fps slowed down to 24fps looks good. I'd love to use this for minimal gimbal establishing shots for weddings instead of whipping out a full-size gimbal.

As a solo content creator making vlogs of my life as a stay at home dad, and making programming videos, the Pocket 3 looks very tempting to buy because of the product showcase mode, the fact that you can easily use it as a webcam as well, it can follow you around which could also make my videos look like they have been filmed by somebody else, ... Basically I use a heavy DSLR and carying that thing around all day on vacation trips and through the house is a pain ^^"

Yes the Pocket 3 looks great! Just one thing not mentioned. What happens if it’s raining? The Osmo is vulnerable to moisture with no weather sealing. So the iPhone would be a better choice. Maybe DJI will release a waterproof version, it’s technically possible? Anyway, good comparison vid, cheers👍

The lack of weather resistance is a deal killer for the Osmo Mobile. There is so much to like about this powerful little package, but it costs way too much for something that can’t handle getting caught out in the weather.

that and the focal length are it's biggest down sides. If they do something to solve those issues in the Pocket 3S or Pocket 3 Pro it'd be unstoppable.

Every thing you shot seem close to dusk which is where both cameras look great. The pocket 3 struggles in BRIGHT BRIGHT daytime and the nd filters are a must, they really should have included it with the creator combo. Pocket 3 WAY better overall than iphone tho.

I shot over 2 days starting at 2pm through sundown. So you are correct, I didn’t mess with the NDs. However all cameras do better in the evening ha

DJI pocket series was Great vlogging Cam. But when it come to Battery it is complicated how to replace new battery on it. That is my problem with my old Pocket DJI. The cam still running but the Battery it won’t last long. After a couple of years.

Great video! I would expect a separate camera to be better than the one on my phone. But owning an iPhone 15 Pro Max (and still being impressed by its camera/ video quality) the Osmo Pocket wouldn’t be that much of an upgrade. And I guess the thing that the iPhone will always have going for it: it’s the camera you always have with you. And yes, the DJI is a compact package, but how often will you take it with you when you don’t plan to shoot? In those unexpected scenarios, the iPhone is there. And though it’s not possible at 60fps, you can shoot Log in 4K without an SSD.

I’m a professional videographer and I hate using the iPhone to shoot with it’s so awkward to hold. How many wide angle shots have been ruined because my finger has slipped into frame. Too many to count.

correction : you don’t actually have to turn low light on on dji. try shooting dlog m 4k 24fps at night it will looo good too

I am struggling between buying the iPhone 15 pro max or the Pocket 3, although I think the Pocket 3 is better in low light due to a mechanical gimbal I would like to see how the iPhone performs in low light with the Black Magic camera app on a gimbal with stabilisation turned off, as I already own a insta 360 flow gimbal with impressive active track.

The pocket is better bc of the gimbal and bc of the phones selfie camera not as good. I know the 14 pro had the action camera mode but only on the front camera. Not sure if the 15 still has this limitation or not. But the added stability is definitely worth it over the 14 pro at least.

Good review. Love the DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Some points: You compared the Pocket 3 to the iPhone in everything but price. The OP3 is $700 with tax… The iPhone 15 Pro Max is $1700 with tax… Hmmm? Another win for the Pocket 3! That said, I wish there was a tighter lens option for the OP3. I’d love to see a 28mm, 35mm or 50mm adapter option. Or maybe DJI can just make another OP3 with a tighter lens… or a fast zoom (20-35mm)?

But then you discount all the extra stuff the iPhone comes with. Even if we ignore all the basic stuff that comes with it being a smartphone, the iPhone is great a taking pictures as well. I think it makes sense to not compare the prices here, because they are in the end different kind of products.

Yeah I steered clear of comparing the prices because of that exact reason. Besides the cameras, the iPhone has a lot of extra benefits of just being a smartphone, which justifies the higher price tag over the Osmo

Is there PAL video setting in Pocket 3? In India I can't use 120fps for indoor video as it will give me flickering. So I have to shoot at 100fps.

I would just buy both for my video... Iphone I can use for video, camera and make calls, watch youtube etc and Pocket 3 for solo video making as it have tracking, built it gimbal, taking video in low light area and especially during the night and both are light and easy to carry anywhere I want...

Pocket 3 is more versatile imho. The gimbal allows creative mounting options with remote control of framing, active track, and a better vlogging experience and low light stabilization and image quality.

I really hate using a phone for content creation. Sure its great for when you think of something on the fly, you don't have a dedicated camera on you, and you have to get it in that moment. However it isn't a substitute for a dedicated camera for a planned shoot. Aside from the drawbacks of not having many camera features on a phone, you have to make sure you shut off all other features of the phone or you'll easily ruin the shoot. With a dedicated camera you just set your phone to silent and your done. If the phone is your primary camera, some app notifications will still pop up, and some have been known to effect the camera app when running, even when the phone is set to silent. For that reason alone I almost always have a small pocketable camera with me, along with my phone. Be it a point and shoot, an action cam, or soon the pocket 3.

I won’t compare them. I do use Osmo pocket 2. Even though I am willing to try pocket 3, pocket 2 is still outstanding. I love pocket for these reasons. 1. It has build in stabilizer. 2. It is hand held and you only need only one hand. If you do know how to manipulate, osomo pocket will not disappoint you with cinematic quality video.

6:50 - look at the image behiend. That what I preffer at every Photo Cameras image vs photos from flagship smartphones. In iphone you will got a flat and dead image, than even the small sensor DJI camera, there you'll got wide colour range and really deep image.

I was hesitant to buy the Osmo Pocket 3 at first, but I'm so glad I did. It's the perfect camera for capturing everyday moments. The footage is amazing and it's so easy to use.

Black Magic Camera App allows Apple LOG in H265 so you don't need external drive at all and for this reason it blows the DJ Action 4 and Pocket 3 out of the water in regards to video quality, although the form factor of the Pocket is much better and I am always nervous shooting with my iPhone 15 Pro Max as I could wreck it etc. Mind you at least the iPhone is waterproof - the pocket 3 most certainly is not! Overall the iPhone is far better quality but the Pocket 3 is very convenient,

I am quite disappointed by my iPhone 15 camera performance: 1) It needs massive amount of light to perform decently. That put severe limitations on its ability to do indoor shots. 2) Not being able to shoot in 4K when in action mode is a significant drawback. 3) Having to use an external drive to shoot in Log profile is simply not very practical. 4) Forget about shooting anything at night or in low light conditions. Overall just a big disappointment.

Pocket 3 all the way. With a gimbal, shooting with an iPhone becomes cumbersome.

Just at an Insta360 Flow gimbal to the iPhone and you will have everything. If you have an Apple Watch, then you can view your framing of selfies too.

DJI pocket 3 is definitely better than any smartphone in video dept it's bcoz the gimbal stabilization is miles ahead of any smartphone atm (yes including some android phones with gimbal tech) now if any smartphone brand would be really serious in miniaturizing somewhat the same gimbal tech from the pocket 3, that would be awesome 💯😍
