Well done, I have a similar one. They more speed variables than a mountain bike. The shaft that the vice cradle moves up and down on is raw finish steel. I live in a tropical climate and some surface rust is happening. It needs some sort of protective coating, or maybe a light oil finish to stop the rust.

Mine had the shaft covered in some kind of grease. I thought it was like that to preserve the metal until you put it together, so you see me removing it in the video with a piece of cloth. I recently heard the same explanation you give in your comment so I put some grease back onto the shaft to prevent it from rusting. Thanks for your input, it's really appreciated!

Very similar to the one I purchased some years ago. A great bench top drill press.

@@MatchboxRestoration I use it often and for jobs that need precise holes drilled. I've also attached smaller polishing wheels or sanding spindles to it too. Countless uses, really. I plan to use it for Match Box and Hot Wheels restorations after I formally retire. I've seen too many casting posts ruined because of drills used at an angle rather than at ninety degrees.

Haha, yes, I have, Tim. It's just that KZfaq decided to publish this video that is 2-3 months old to the public for no reason... I don't know what happened. It was on my Community Tab for some time, but now it appears in my video list.
