In this video I'll be comparing the NEW, just released Drybar Double Shot hair dryer that retails for $150, to the popular Revlon One Step Volumizer and Styler that can usually be found for under $60. Are they exactly the same or different enough to for Drybar to justify the higher price? Full comparison and demo!

I own both. Yes drybar leaves my hair little frizzy than the revlon. Revlon gives a smoother result but it’s very damaging. I have seen less hair fall with Drybar . The revlon just pulls on the roots and gets very hot . So in the longer run I think Drybar . 💜💗

I’ve been using the Revlon one since very shortly after it came out. It gives me the best style I’ve ever had. People think I’m getting my hair cut differently, but I’m not. It saves so much time versus a round brush and regular dryer. I use it every day, so I probably need to use some heat protectant.... Thanks for the video!

I tried the Revlon dryer once and was very awkward with it so I was going to give it away and purchase the dry bar version. I am so happy that I haven’t given the Revlon one away yet because I just watched your tutorial on it and you saved my life, my hair, And a shit ton of money! You’re the bomb girl. I think the Bristle Section of the dryer is meant to be used to grab the hair at the scalp and then as you turn and move the brush down the flat part straightens the hair. The fact that the revlon has more bristles probably means it grasps more hair and that’s why it smoother than the dry bar. Just a little FYI… I read an article probably two years ago from an ex dry bar employee and they said that their products are the exact same as some of the less expensive brands...You basically are paying $150 for The yellow color.

I use the Revlon regularly and use the ‘cool’ setting on my thick hair. It’s as powerful as the high and still warm, as I find the high setting too hot. I like it.
@redbloodedwoman1179

The heat thing is what pushed me to buy the drybar version - with thin, fine hair (and thinning) that gets damaged very quickly, (even with heat protectant etc etc), less heat is more. Also, I have read many reviews on how the revlon brush pulls /tugs hair out more. Great comparison for those who don't have my type of hair issues

Hello, I’m looking for a hot styling brush that heats at least as possible, my scalp is very sensitive and I was wondering if the DryBar heats more after an half of hour of using, for example. My Rowenta brush does this, if I can use it in the first 10 minutes, then I have to let it cool of because it’s too much heat coming out. I want a new brush and I am considering the DryBar an option.
@redbloodedwoman1179
@redbloodedwoman1179 2 жыл бұрын
@@dianatrif7085 Hey! A couple of points on how I am using it before the full reply: I usually let my hair air dry a while OR give it a blast with a regular hair dryer BEFORE I use the Drybar. My hair is VERY fine and fragile - it damages very fast, so I am scared to use this on totally wet hair, start to finish. SO, I do not use it for more than 15 minutes at a time. Keep that in mind as I continue... It has 2 heat settings and does get very hot on the highest heat setting - but I never really "feel" it. I use the lower heat setting ALOT since it is recommended for fine hair and it does not get too hot on this one. Also, for the days that I am impatient and DO use the higher heat setting (can't lie! I do utilize it!) and I feel like it's getting too hot for MY liking - I just switch back to the cool setting for a minute or so, and it cools it all down again. Hope that helps (?)!

I have extremely thick course hair and a ton of it. I can get an all most salon looking blowout . My daughter got one and my granddaughter wants one. I don’ need to use my flat iron except a tiny bit on my bangs. I have raved about it to all of my friends and I honestly get a ton of common my hair since I started using it - not kidding. It’s a miracle worker. My hair is in the best shape ever - my hair stylist says the same about mine and it’s growing - my friends actually thought I had hair extensions in lol I think your Revlon side looked smoother 👍👍👍😉 Thank you Risa - you’re the best!!🥰 Xo Tammy Roy🇨🇦

I LOVE my Revlon dryer! I use it on high, until the last 90 seconds or so, then turn it down a notch. No damage to my hair whatsoever! I'm 56, with mostly gray hair, and we all know that gray hair is frizzier. Other women with gray hair ask me how I get mine so smooth. I recommend this dryer every time. I find a lot of women are afraid to use high heat, and that's part of why it works so well. I once asked my hairdresser why I can't achieve the same smooth results she does, and she mentioned that hairdressers usually use higher heat than people do at home, for one thing. She also mentioned that stylists generally use more quantity of product than people do at home. Now, with my Revlon, I can just about match my hairstylist's results.

I got the Revlon dryer after you showed it about a year ago. Ulta was having one of their 21 days of beauty and it was a hot buy and I think I got it for under $30!! I LOVE it. I have fine hair that also has gotten thinner with age and I use a styling product with it and use it on high and it works great! If I use the low setting it takes forever and ends up not coming out as smooth. So everybody has different hair and different things that work for them. You have to do what works best for YOUR needs and style. As long as your hair is and looks healthy , which it does, it is doing fine. I am happy with my Revlon and don't feel the need to spend $150 to buy a copy!

Ok, ladies, please remember to use hearing protection when using blow dryers. Most blow dryers are between 80-95 decibels and permanent hearing damage occurs beginning at 85 decibels. Combine that with dryers being held very close to ears for extended periods of time, often daily, so hearing damage is pretty much assured.

Thank you for this review! Since I started using the Revlon, my Buttercup has been unused as well. I also don’t go to Drybar as much for blowouts since the Revlon makes blowouts super easy to do at home Dreamcoat by Color Wow is my fav base product which smooths and protects from heat.

Thank you for this! I am literally standing in Sephora watching this video while debating buying the Drybar one (I have the revlon at home). You just saved me $160 🙏🏻

Love the Revlon. I use it on the low setting. My hair is fine. Low is more than enough.

I bought the Revlon dryer because of your recommendation. Got it on sale at Ulta and I had Ulta cash so i paid like 30$. Best. Money. I. Ever. Spent👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Never could give myself a good blow dry and now i can give myself one in 15 minutes! Thanks for the recommendation! Will not be getting the drybar one thought but thanks for the comparison👍🏼

I have been thinking about the Revlon dryer and now will definitely try it out. My hair is a very similar curl to yours and I was wondering how it would work. Your hair looks great and I’m looking forward to seeing how it works for me. Thanks 🖤

A year ago, I got the Drybar blow dryer, on sale, with a ton of product and accessories. I was fully prepared to return it. Except that my hair has never looked better. My hair still looks amazing so I will repurchase when necessary. I'd love to try this brush.

This was an excellent tutorial or comparison of the two dryers. I felt it looked obvious that the Revlon side looked so smooth and touchable without frizz but the Drybar made your hair look frizzy. Just my opinion from what I could see. You did an excellent job of describing the two dryers, and if I didn't have short hair you would have convinced me to get the Revlon :).

I wouldn’t be surprised if both products are made at the same factory in China with minor physical modifications. They seem too similar

Im not sure about the Drybar as it just came out, but i for sure know that the revlon, and others like hot tools, are all made by a company called Helen of Troy. They look absolutely identical and only change in things like color. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the drybar one is also made by Helen of Troy.

Ready to have your mind blown? There is a warehouse in Japan where all Apple and Samsung, etc. parts are made with signs designating the different areas. ;-) Fact.

I can’t believe you have such curly hair! Me too but I get a Brazilian as mine is awful to style. I love the revlon and also the Dyson curler as it saves my hair from damage as it takes way less heat. Love you, Risa!

Would this dryer- Revlon work on short hair.

Sally Apple, it could, but take a look at the size of the shaft/ styling brush to see if that size would work for you. It gives volume, straightens & makes large curls.

I love my Revlon dryer and will not spend an extra $100 for the dry bar name. I have extremely long hair and my hair comes out shiny and smooth with the Revlon dryer. Definitely one of my holy grail products😊

I really appreciate this comparison. I, too, have been checking out the drybar IG and wondering how this dryer would stack up against the revlon. TBH, I expected the higher price tag would mean the drybar dryer would perform better. I’m glad to know I was wrong and will happily continue using my revlon.

The Revlon looked smoother AND had more volume. I’d say the difference is the high heat temps which may be important to some people. I’d be happy with the Revlon

We are the same...I have the same texture! Although my hair is long right now....down to bra strap. I have fine hair and have found that keeping my hair on the longer side makes it seem thicker..if I cut it it looks thinner. This is a super interesting video!
