New DSA G-Series Clone FAL Rifle

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is with ‪@dsainc‬ to discuss their newest FAL for 2023. The G-Series FAL is DSA's clone of the most desirable collector FAL in the world.
From September 5, 1959 to January 10, 1963, the Browning Arms Company imported 1,836 FAL rifles in caliber 7.62mm from Fabrique Nationale, Herstal, Belgium. Subsequent to January 10, 1963, the ATF classified this rifle as a machine gun. However it was determined that the 1,863 rifles imported by Browning would be exempt from the provisions of the National Firearms Act. Additionally twelve FN FAL rifles were imported through an administrative error in 1974. These 12 rifles are also exempt from the provisions of the National Firearms Act.
All G Series and GL Series FAL rifles are marked FAL. cal. 7.62 on the left side of the receiver and Fabrique Nationale D'Armes De Guerre-Herstal Belgique on the right side of the receiver. The selector positions are marked "S" for safe, "R" for semiautomatic, and "A" for automatic. The selector lever is designed so that it cannot be rotated to the automatic position.

I bought mine 20 years ago. They were cheap ( 2-5) then. Same for HK mags bought mine for .49 each. No reason for FAL mags to be 25.00

Beautiful but I wish PSA or some other company would get into the FAL game, provide some competition, and bring prices down a little. If DSA can’t meet demand it seems like an opportunity for another manufacturer.

The “G” series, in reference to early American importation and special international presentation rifles referred to “Gift” or presentation types, these gift fal’s vary in grade from premium commercial to heavily embellished, they were specifically made for special presentations, collectors and civilian sporting uses.

Depends which one you want. I think most people would want the FN T48, which was more of a pattern gun for H&R and SA to make their own from. The handguards are really neat, and not many are recreating it. The clip fed dust covers are around but pricey, new reproductions would be cool. The bolt carriers were also left in the white. Biggest thing I distinctly remembered holding one was how light it was, even with the wood furniture.

Maybe talk to PSA and their battle line. You may get farther. I asked them about a 5.56 FAL like the old Imbels, not the MD rifles, they were imported as SAR 4800 rifles. They said they couldn't do it economically.

I'd like to see them reproduce the L1A1. Even if it wasn't full inch pattern and just a metric lookalike I would buy it. Would love to own an L1A1 but hard to find nowadays. Hopefully that will come soon after this.

Aussie L1A1 was my first issued weapon in the mid eighties, then was the heavy barrel full auto L2A1, with it's thirty rounds mags. And then the junk that was the first issued Sten AUG....

I think I'm in love. I like new stuff and innovation, but nothing beats an original, be it an FAL, AK, AR-15, they're all stylish and classic, just like a classic car. The difference is this is $2k instead of $60k, so more people can enjoy it.

I’ve had horrible experiences with DSA. I’ve brought bunch of stuff from them over the years. Nice people but every single time I ordered something from them it goes wrong. Hope PSA or someone buys them out.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case with the big 3 battle rifle clone manufactuers. DSA, PTR, and Springfield Armory all have issues. It's a real shame because they all three make cool stuff. I've been lucky with my M1A, but I went into it knowing it'd be a dice roll.

@@Full_Otto_Bismarck Yeah at that point i'd consider it semi-custom. Shouldn't be so hard to get some good rifles built, contractors used to churn em out like crazy. I understand that a lot of that knowledge is lost, but it seems like most of the issues from all 3 are QC related, because they are capable of making good functioning firearms, they just can't do it often enough.

Dsa has absolutely amazing customer service. My first gun "in my name" was a dsa zm4 i bought in 2015 second hand for $500. Years later I finally realized that the picatinny rail on the upper was milled too thin and was out of spec. Quick release attachments would not stay on. I emailed them about it late last year and they sent me a new upper no questions asked..

@@victorkreig6089 It's not like it's a clone of the T48 rifle. It's just a clone of the first FALs that were imported into the U.S. The Rhodesian FALs look so much cooler and have a lot more historical significance than a old civilian rifle.

What makes the G series valuable is the fact they were made by FN in Belgium and there is 1800 of them. If Honda made 10k Ferrari F40s would it really even be an F40?
