Two different trucks. The 1500 rides like a Cadillac, gets upper 20's MPG and is super quiet on the road. Will pull an average size boat or trailer no issues. You have a big toy hauler, 5th wheel or use for heavy equipment, there is no other choice than the 6.6L. Daily driving, 1500 hands down. Love mine and actually got $12K off sticker December 2023.

I purchased a 24 1500 ZR2 with Duramax. Came from a 23 Colorado ZR2. We needed more room for our growing family. Fuel economy was terrible with a rooftop tent like 13-14. We don’t need towing so the 1500 has been a good fit for us. We off-road on weekends and stay in our tent. I daily truck with the tent on it. Still average 22ish. Just hit 4,000 in the two months I’ve had it. Don’t think I’ll ever have a need for 2500 or 3500. But can definitely recommend the 1500 with baby diesel.

I have debated this for myself. The 1500 wins every time for my personal needs. The lower price tag and better fuel economy tilts the scale for myself, I also do not need a hd for what I do. After saying all that I still really like the heavier duty truck but I can not justify buying it. I currently drive a ‘22 at4 and really love it, it replaced a zr2 Colorado with the true baby max.

Why is GM so averse to putting properly sized tires on these trucks? The stock tires look so tiny on these massive trucks. The 1500 needs 35s and the HD should at least have 37s.

Trucks should be selected based on the mission requirements.

I have a 2020 Denali Diesel 2500 Duramax I paid 70K new, also a 2020 Silverado RST Z71 Paid 50K in 21. NO WAY either of these trucks are worth 80-105K. You are paying for gimmicks. Nothing either of these trucks can do that mine cant. Waste of money just my opinion.

Yea I’ve thought about downgrading from my f-250 to a baby duramax for daily driver but I know I’d miss the power. We just need to be able to put the big diesel engines in a 1/2 ton truck and we’d all be good lol jk
