Much prefer Mark when he’s humble and actually teaching his guys “and us”. VS playing to the camera. Very interesting learning about how the dash is restored. And who knew about window crank position. Lol

My whole problem with this show is Mark's ego. I love MOPAR and Mark has an encyclopedic knowledge, but he is such an asshole. I would drop a car off and send him a check when it was completed if I never had to meet him. He is his own worst enemy!

This would have been a dream job for sure! I have done this once, started about 7 years ago and it took me like 5 years to get it done. Paint, body and the engine i had people do for me but i put it all together all by my self with no help exept for the windshield and rear window with no experience of old american cars. Next car i WILL do ALL by my self!

I do my own restorations and don't send them out for shit. You'd never get it back! Its easy to do it all you have to just decide you want to do it. Also paint is probably the easiest job people cant do or or are afraid to do and its one of the easiest things to do on a car, other than all the prep work that needs to be done. However that is done minute by minute hour by hour day by day and week by week, and then even month by month if you are slow. But metal work, paint, prep...simple stuff once you lay down some practice runs which builds your skill level incredibly fast. Good luck on your next one. It is the most rewarding job to do it ALL!

I grew up in a full service garage in the apprenticeship of perfection-professionals. When I wasn’t working I was hanging out in the best gear-head garage in our town. One of our friends was a genius at finding more horses in anything. He still can do anything in mechanical or video production, but nothing close to Marks Productions! Like my lifetime buddy, you geniuses are weird.

They use weld through primer on the body where it dooesn't need welding? That could cost $2000 dollars today just that much weld through primer! Ridiculous. You do the welding before the car is primed! Always. I'm a collision tech. We don't use weld through primer unless we are welding something underneath a panel where it cannot be addressed later on. Thanks.

There's one thing better than boxed in steel..that's boxed in steel that's had the inside painted in thick primer or galv paint and weld through prime on the joints before welding together ...especially on sills and especially in countries that like putting car disolver (salt) on roads!

5:00 this is amazing - so there cannot be original rubber parts - certainly worth using - so what makes a replication different from an original recreation? Or am I wrong - there is true original parts that are not degraded? 29:00 just remarkable. The padding has to be redone in a manner that is more durable - they all cracked back then - my '74 Coronet (my Grandad gave it to me shortly after I got to Winnipeg, as he knew I sold my car to get there) .. the dash was not bad, BUT it had a big split and stretch look .. separating where it rises for the gauges.
@MrCbell57
@MrCbell57 Жыл бұрын
some rubber parts can last a century when shelved in climate controled environments. Yes you can use NOS rubber today if you have it. For me its way to expensive and so aftermarket OER is about the best second. Origional replacement parts. Now you are thinking about cars that have been on the road and put up wet day in and day out for years. The rubber never holds up while outside in the weather. NOS parts are ridiculous to buy. A rubber rad hose can cost $75 dollars. Verses an oer or aftermarket for $5.
