** ABOUT TIME TEAM **
Time Team is a British archaeology series that originally broadcast on the UK's Channel 4 for 20 series, and countless specials. Over the years, the team excavated over 220 sites, from back gardens to Buckingham Palace. The show has now returned to KZfaq, thanks to the incredible support of thousands of worldwide fans on Patreon.
Series 21 (Season 21) of Time Team follows two incredible new digs, each released in extended 3-part episodes exclusively on the Time Team Official KZfaq channel. The first dig explores a mysterious Iron Age site in Cornwall; the second investigates a huge Roman villa on the estate of a Tudor castle in Oxfordshire.

Does the data from the coins found by the metal detection suggest that the south range of buildings could have been constructed with wood, and between the third and fourth centuries the north range was added on in stone?

Now that you're online, it wouldn't be unreasonable to extend your digs out to 7 days... Just a thought. Also give Natalie a bit more air time and gus a bit less, it's a little unkind to make her so ancillary. She's got a good wit and is entertaining.

Loved the new digs, it really feels from an audience perspective that the team's hit the ground running on both digs! It's great to see more of the process in the longer episodes; the technical side of things, really getting into the detail was always something I wished we saw more of in old episodes. More time to explore those details, along with the new tech that's available on-site now, really adds a lot of depth to what we as an audience get to see. I'm sadly not in a position where I can become a patreon supporter, but I can't wait to see what's next :)

The horse's head reminds me of my dad saying how his grandad used to catch eels: they would lower a horse's head on a rope into the water, and once a few had latched on, pull it up quickly and grab them off. The same head could be used for days or even weeks before it had to be discarded. Perhaps the same could have happened here?

We have the immense benefit of being able to look back and see those decades long relationships between people develop over days or weeks if we want to watch all the old shows, but while there are some familiar faces here, the new presenters and other new members of the team are all just beginning their own adventures together. :)

Wonderful, wonderful! Henry Chapman, we need some core samples from those ponds for Naomi to investigate, and to find levels. How deep were they? A mill? Undershot wheel? Side wheel? I can't wait for the follow ups on this - I'd love to see much more of the photogrammetry on Broughton Castle itself - build it up from its earliest beginnings [and how much of it was made of stone robbed from that oh-so-convenient villa? ]. I DO hope you stay within the British Isles myself; there's SO much we don't know... This s the BEST sort of archaeology programme - the archaeology comes first, above and beyond the glitz of commercial tv. Gus, you have a lovely voice - you don't need to whisper! If that was a commercial farm with some sort of fish breeding and processing scheme as well, I can see how the economic basis would have fallen apart along with the Roman Empire. I presume it's pure speculation that Britain was supplying grain for the legions on the Rhine to bake into bread. If so, it took much more than a thousand years for that to become possible again. And it's gone once more. It took about 1500 years before people in England were able to enjoy central heating like those Romans once had, but now it's not just for the very rich.

I hab to sit and relax for a while with the pictures running through my mind. The portrait of the lady is beautiful, and shows how bright the colours in the villa must have been, and the care that was taken of the ladies last resting place is a testament to how much she was cared for by her family which is heartwarming. I've found it very hard at times to follow where exactly these walls are. It would be helpful to add the outline of the walls for the viewer to get a more clear idea of the space they are walking around explaining.

Time team has meant a lot to me over the years. I've been dealing with a spinal injury for 11 years now, and have to spend a lot (way too much) time on my back.Now cancer has further complicated things. I have watched all the episodes multiple times, and absolutely love the show, and will continue watching them over and over.I have even seen some distant relatives in Cornwall (I'm a yank). I love the 2 new episodes, but with 2 caveats. I can't imagine why they waited 'til the 3rd day to start excavating the lead lined sarcophagus in the 2nd dig, knowing what a tedious and time consuming job it is to work on skeletons and (hopefully) grave goods. I can't imagine why they didn't put a crew on that first thing on day 1, knowng how long t would take. That caught my interest right away in the previews, and it never materialized, big bummer! The second, and very minor criticism is, if in future episodes, Dr. Gus could speak up during the narration. At times he seems to go into a whisper. Over all, job well done, and keep up the good work! Hope to see more episodes in the future! Thanx again.

I really start to enjoy the new moderators and cannot understand the hate they get. Yes, I loved Tony Robinson, but the new voice from Gus is less anxious, a little less sarcastic (which is partly a shame, the humour has mainly left the building), and the soothing voice of Gus is quite nice as antidote to these a little too exciting times. Do I miss the digs between diggers? Of course I do. But I enjoy the new technology possibilities and that each day now gets more time than previously. Keep on doing what you are doing, Time Team!
@MacWhatley
@MacWhatley 2 жыл бұрын
"Soothing" is indeed how I would describe Gus's voiceovers-- a quality one never expected from Tony. Tony could bring the humor, but he could also bite hard on random team members, sometimes to the point of making it uncomfortable (Remember when Mick the Twig refused to give a firm date on those bridge timbers?) Tony also cracked the whip to speed things up, which was important when a show covered 3 days in 50 minutes, but not a problem now when 3 segments add up to an hour and a half. By and large, this modernization is a fine update. I miss the team members who have aged out, but I like the new young ones very much.

Who would have thought that the original Time Team series could be improved, but this is so much better, with time to explain the details provided by the day-by-day format. Excellent presenters too - Mick would have been so proud! Congratulations to all on an excellent new approach.

Brilliant stuff! The 3D animations at the end were very impressive in conveying how the villa and ponds may have looked in the landscape.

Just to sing your praises some more; I'm so glad that the *sound* of Time Team returned! Not even just the main theme, it's the fact you retained the rights and usage of all the old familiar instrumental bits over the voiceovers too. I hadn't realised how much I missed and associated those background tracks with the show, wouldn't of been the same feel without them. Kudos!

Fascinating site. Still much more to be found. This has been an absolutely triumphant return. As good as I could have hoped for. Some old faces, some new, but the spirit of the show - the thrill and awe of discovery - is very much the same. I have missed it.

Sensational stuff. Absolutely gorgeous reconstruction of the site using the talents, expertise and technology that Time Team now has available. I have enjoyed every minute of these two inaugural digs of the new series. It is a miracle that our long held wishes have come true and that there is the opportunity for this special collaboration between members of the Team and the fans. All’s right with the world! Thank you all so much. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hello Time Team crew! Great to have you back! One suggestion, if I may. This is something that I think was missing from the original series that I think might be a nice opportunity this time around: providing a time-lapse of a given Roman villa's journey from its heyday to it's current state. In other words, give us an idea of what the (dilapidated) building might have looked like a couple of centuries after Roman occupation and onwards. Actually show how the roofs collapsed, then the walls, the elements, etc. Currently, it always goes from magnificent building to a barren field. It would be nice to imagine/render what happened in the interim.

So special how they show and display the marvelous technical and experienced based skills and educated understanding to those of us who are interested amateurs and neophytes yet there is such skilled talking to us as interested educated adults. Wow this is such a wonderful continuation and such a special testament to those who have gone before. For so many years I have been awed enthralled and so comprehensively and skillfully educated. Such a wonderful awesome programme and the people who add so much are more than its equal. I have loved following many of them for 20+ years and am so pleased such special ambassadors have achieved so much both with these programmes but in their professions. Academia can be such a fractious envious place that to see these special people and special professionals be recognized is marvelous

Really enjoying the show. Just finishing episode 3 now. There's a finding of carbonised grains and plenty of water. Seem to me two very important ingredients of brewing. Roasting the grain for the likes of a stout/porter style of beer. ...possibly not, but I really like the thought of this being a brewery :-)
