The Oregon Air National Guard is set to welcome new F-15EX Eagles.
The jets will replace the older F-15C models that were built in the 1980s.
The new jet might look similar, but the pilots tell KATU News that everything on the inside is brand new and completely different.
“Our old airplane is analog, this jet is digital,” said Col. Mike Kosderka, Commander 142nd Wing.
The brand-new aircraft will continue the mission of keeping the skies above the Pacific Northwest safe from threats.

Most people aren't going to understand what I'm about to say. But I've often times wondered which it more powerful, the gun in the nose of the A-10 or the RADAR in the nose of the F-15? I don't think the general public truly understands the significance of the advantage the F-15 has because of it's radar and once the USAF gets missiles that matches this capability, the F-15 is going to be a serious threat to ANYTHING in the air.

The one thing I'm proud of, as a Missourian, is that the two Serra Hotel fighter of the USAF and USN are made in St. Louis. Those being of course, the F-15 EX Eagle II and the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet. We could have another magnificent fighter if the DoD would wake up and put new F-16V Block 70/72 in the inventory instead of trying to promote that POS F-35 A/B/C Fat Amy. I got a kick out of how careful the Colonel was NOT to say anything against it. (The Puzzle Palace Brass is watching)

Wow so cool to see the first F-15EX jet to arrive at the ANG. The experience level of ANG pilots is significantly higher than the Regular Air Force cadres. I flew F-4E and F-16A aircraft on active duty for 10 years and flew all blocks of the F-16C in the ANG. The guard fighter pilot flys more sorties per month, per year than the Reg AF fighter pilots do. So it makes perfect sense to bring the new jet to the Air Guard. Very similar concept as to how the F-22 was initiated by merging Air Force pilots with ANG pilots. The jet looks awesome and the enemy in China and Russia & Iran should be nervous‼️👍👊💪🇺🇸

2 seat F-15s come in a few flavors. The B/D models were C’s with two seats (trainers mostly). Pretty much same as the single seat A’s and C’s. Then the F-15E which is a heavier, thirstier attack jet first. Not as nearly as nimble/fast as the C. But can carry a ton of ordnance. The EX is heavier than the C but lighter and more powerful than the E and is primarily for air defense and much more advanced/capable than both the C and E. The EX can carry more missiles and has better range than the old C.

The F35 does not have the ordinance capacity to endure drawn out engagements. F15ex squadrons can remedy this. Sad to see the C model go.. but its getting old.. four of the planes there were at a base I was assigned too back in 1991-1993.. and they will be gone soon.

Love the F-15EX Weapons system upgraded needed, the Airframe Basic Designed Better suite of Avionics, counter measures, situational awareness, Just big fast pickup with nearly twice the weapons capacity. My pet peeve is the lack of IRST backed into the Airframe, in a strong counter measures environment, its essential. instead they have to carry a Pod, (The Gripen, Rafale, and Typhoon are all integrated). I'm not an expert just an enthusiast, I just believe IRST should be Fully Integrated and easily upgradable. When no one can see anything 30 mile out on Radar due to jamming the Gripen E can Target you with Infra Red just saying.

Kind of a big deal considering the air force only has about 6 or 8 of the EX model aircraft so far.

Can someone explain why the pilot held off so long with rotating the plane on to its front landing gear? I thought he was performing a “touch & go” landing for as long as he held off landing or placing the front gear on the tarmac.

It's what's called Aerobraking. By keeping the nose high, it induces a ton of drag on the airframe, slowing the aircraft down a lot more than throwing out the air brake on the back of the aircraft. It also saves on wheel brake usage.

Aero braking. Doesn’t need to wear the breaks out.

Needs fewer brake jobs! Let the air slow you down as much as possible. Besides, it's "cool"! Best of both worlds.

I love the new F15EX Eagle. I truly wish we in the UK would have the F15EX Eagle in the RAF rather than the Eurofighter Typhoon as the Eagle is the best Fighter Aircraft in the world EVER. The USAF and DOD should buy loads of these to completely replace the Legacy Eagle (F15C & D) and not just station them in the US but also back at their base in Europe etc (RAF/USAF Lakenheath etc).🤘🤘

So forget about our own aircraft industry....become pure customers....etc etc. Even if the Typhoon wasn't excellent ....why would we terminate our ability to design fighter aircraft?

@@timmurphy5541 Nothing matters other than what you've got when you're the one in the seat during combat. It's easy to talk when we're sitting back and watching. But I hope the US would never put our pilots into a inferior aircraft just because we "don't want to be customers". Yeah, tell that to the guy that has to fly into combat.

@@Danlovestrivium to the pilot perhaps, but we don't really pay for all of this to make pilots safer. We do it to be able to win. Ask the Americans if they would give up on being able to design Aircraft for any reason whatsoever.
@Danlovestrivium
@Danlovestrivium 21 күн бұрын
@@timmurphy5541 I think you're failing to realize that the pilot's ability to survive increases his chance at winning, whether this be through superior maneuvering, stealth, RWR or a reinforced cockpit like the A-10. You may not pay for your pilots to be safe, but Americans sure as hell do. I also think that you don't really know the history of American combat aviation if you don't think we've given up on way more than a few aircraft because of deficiencies. If Americans knew we weren't the very best at building aircraft, we'd find a way to have the best, even if it meant becoming buyers. Our new T-7A is a very recent example.
