The construction of the 122 affordable homes is nearing completion in Wickford, Essex. Locals have had to put up with the blight of a derelict site for over 12 years, however the new flats have created much upset in the local area as they are out of character and an imposing sight in the town. Promising to be 100% affordable by the contractors, the development has still put the cat among the pigeons as locals still are of the opinion that they will be snapped up by 'greedy landlords'.
