It's also unclear which red-hued Gem species were designed and created by Pink Diamond, and which were created by other Diamonds when PD was incapable of doing so.

I thought it might be a Rose Quartz. Some others say it was Strawberry Quartz.

Actual Cherry Quartz's are man-made gems, not naturally created gems. So perhaps that could be a factor in her "Where do I belong" journey because even though she is obviously a gem, perhaps she just doesn't feel a sense of belonging with everyone else, not just because she is a formerly corrupted gem, but also because since she isn't a natural gem she would be classified as an off-color. This confusion could lead her to Jasper who would convince her that Era 3 is (Pardon the pun) not all it's cracked up to be and that Steven Universe isn't the good guy he presents himself as.

When you were talking about kindergartens, I got to thinking; wouldn't the diamonds have been able to use her diamond... fluids to make gems on their colonies before she received Earth? Amethysts might have existed for a long time before the Earth was even on homeworld maps.

This isn't much proof at all but I don't think she's an off color from the Rose kindergarten because her gem in a hexagon and the Rose Quartz' are pentagons. But then again, look at the Jasper's so I may be wrong

It should be noted that kindergartens can make more than one type of gem, as seen by the fact that the beta kindergarten created jaspers, carnelians and who knows what else. Also when Pink Diamond pretended to be a Rose Quartz from the Prime Kindergarten the Amethysts didn't bat an eye at that, though then again they were pretty stupid. So it could just as easily be that Cherry came from either the prime or beta kindergarten, there is no need to be another unknown one on earth.

Do other people not clean their plungers after using them? In my house if you need it you use it and then clean it before storing it

Cherry Quartz is man made (molten clear quartz mixed with cinnabar) and Strawberry Quartz is natural, although it doesn't have a uniform pink/red color like Cherry. I hope that the writers know this, then maybe her name implies there was human activity involved in her process? I'm thinking she was an Amethyst originally (I thought I heard the Amethyst voice actress) but due to human intervention she ended up being a Cherry Quartz.
