Padparadscha isn't necessarily an "extreme off color", she's just more rate than a normal sapphire. Keep in mind that sapphires come in a number of colors, orange is just an extremely rare one. She's an off color because her ability to predict the recent past, rather than the future.

The beta kintergarten wasn't just for jaspers, as we know they produced carnelions as well. Also why couldn't the quartzes who fought for homeworld or who joined the crystal gems come from other worlds, either sent by homeworld to fight to secure earth or heard about the rebellion and joined them?

Garnet saying how an Orange Sapphire is rare might not mean that they were never made, just that they weren't common, so the Diamond Oils definitely could have made orange Sapphires during their time of creating gems. Also, isn't Paddy an off color because of her skewed future vision, and not her color?

the reason why amethyst and jasper have different voice actors despite being both quartzes are because they're of different quartz families. amethysts are, well, amethysts. jaspers are under the chalcedony family, which is typically opaque due to being microcrystalline. it would make sense that the other quartz soldiers under the chalcedony family have different voice actors, since holly blue agate is also a quartz gem under chalcedony.

I think that some of the other quartzes were brought to earth for the war. This can be supported with the fact that There are quartzes not from Earth shown or referenced in the show. For example Holly Blue Agate, who thinks that the Quartzes at the zoo are less than because “they’re from Earth,” implying that she herself, and other quartzes not at the Zoo, were made elsewhere.There are also Citrines, a type of yellow quartz, referenced by Emerald who were guarding her Sun Incinerator in “Lars of the Stars.”

You took the term,"off-color" too literally. I thought it meant a gem either came out wrong or became wrong. Wrong by Homeworld's standards . The "off-colors" aren't off because of their coloring. They each have different flaws from a conjoined form, to delayed powers and cross-gem fusion . These are flaws we now know would end in shattering at worse, rejuvenation at best.

Bro not all Quartzes on Earth were necessarily made on Earth. As far as we know, only Amethysts, Jaspers and Carnelians were confirmed to be made on Earth via the Prime and Beta Kindergartens. However, those variety of Quartz can be made in other Kindergartens on different planets as well, if the conditions are right of course, since we’ve seen Amethysts belonging to Blue Diamond in the flashback of “Now We're Only Falling Apart” before Pink’s Amethysts would have been transferred to her. The same thing can certainly be said for the entire Quartz category. Furthermore, keep in mind that Pink Diamond already had her own Court before being given the Earth as mentioned by Pearl in “Familiar”. Pink Diamond’s Gems were coming directly from Homeworld to assist in Earth’s colonization, such as Bismuths and Nephrites. Before the Amethysts were made on Earth, Pink Diamond most certainly had to already have Quartz soldiers in her Court, probably made on Homeworld, come to Earth with her for protection and to enforce her rule, such as her Agates (said by Zircon in “The Trial”), probably Cherry Quartzes since they’re pink in color, and obviously Rose Quartzes since Superfan Rose mentioned being on the Earth’s surface before being bubbled in the Human Zoo. As for the other Quartz varieties we see uncorrupted on Earth, such as Biggs Jasper, Ocean Jasper, Blue Lace Agate, Purple Lace Amethyst, Angel Aura Quartz, Zebra Jasper, but not including Crazy Lace Agate since she’s a Fusion of two unknown components, they were either made on other planets and sent to Earth in order to fight in the war (maybe with Hessonite) and some eventually joining the Rebellion, or simply just escaped the other Diamonds’ Courts to live on Earth and be free, only to be corrupted like most the Gems at Little Homeschool. Different varieties of Quartz theoretically being from the same Kindergarten does not mean sharing the same voice, it’s been pretty much confirmed that it all depends on the Gem-type…but mostly on who the Crewniverse has available lol! Keep in mind with so many newly introduced background characters to be voiced the Crewniverse still have to work with a given budget. Kimberly Brooks has impressive range with her voice and is already involved with the show, so she is able to voice all these characters yet still have them sound different; compare mainly the Jaspers to the Rose Quartzes. They’re obviously meant to sound very different, in fact without the credits we probably wouldn’t even be able to tell they had the same VA, and I’m pretty sure that was the entire point lmao. So several varieties Quartz Gems sharing the same voice actress isn’t an adequate argument to help your point of them all being from Earth either. With the exception of the Rose Quartzes and Carnelian, Brooks mostly voices the Jasper Quartz variety, and while they may be different types of Jaspers, they’re still Jaspers nonetheless and can be loosely considered the same in their programming even though they’re from different planets and made by different Diamonds. Sapphires in general are extremely rare Gems, even when they’re basic colors such as blue. It makes sense that orange-colored Sapphires are much more rare because it would require them being made by both Yellow Diamond and Pink Diamond specifically, such as orange-colored Jaspers. Yellow Diamond would most likely prefer to just make Yellow Sapphires on one of her own many colonies, and Pink Diamond would make her own Pink Sapphires since we know they existed according to Zircon in “The Trial”. An orange-colored Sapphire being produced would require them to combine their Diamond essence in both the right conditions and location, which obviously would not happen often when you think about it. So Padpardscha’s color being rare wouldn’t make her defective, but it’s OBVIOUSLY THE FACT THAT SHE CAN’T PREDICT THE FUTURE EVEN THOUGH THAT’S HER WHOLE PURPOSE.

In One of the Steven Universe games, for mobile, a third kindergarten called the Delta Kindergarten makes it's debut. I believe that might be where Rose Quartz soldiers were made.

Couldn't they have come from othet colonies? Kindergartens from other worlds? We know the Diamonds had many colonies and we've seen examples of destroyed worlds on Steven's adventures, whose to say if these gems didn't come from those other colonies to take part in the war?

Well, we know Era 2 gems have less abilities and that Era 2 was when PD was gone. So by that logic then all gems have a little of all the diamonds in them.

We know there's a Delta kindergarten from one of the games, where Blue quatz gems are from. Also Carnelians are closely related to Jaspers gemologically.

I researched a Carnelian, and its mostly orange/red, the colour for the beta kindergarten. So the Carnelian is technically not an off colour.

The Injectors may have a certain mix of Diamond Oils, but what gem will come out depends on what rocks those oils interact with, hence why they are identified by their gem type, for example, the Injector that ended up creating Paddy may have accidentally oiled up a sapphire deposit instead of what the surrounding gemstones were, for all we know, Patty was supposed to be a Ruby, not a Sapphire, hence her unusual colouring.

I just realized Season 4 could have been handled better if they made steven going to a rose quartz kindergaden by peridot explaining where they came from especially after the "Zoo Arc". Imagine Steven trying to find her mother's origins while peridot explaining what hole she came out off but having a hard time finding it because rose never really had a cave cause she was pink. This would have made "Lion 4: Alternate Ending" make more emotionally gripping and the twist of rose being pink make more sense.

I don’t think each kindergarten is devoted to one type of gem. Instead of all of the other quartz’s being off colours they could just be rare or placed in parts of the kindergartens we haven’t seen.

... Why exactly is it so impossible for one kindergarten to produce more then one type of Gem? I see no reason why the Prime Kindergarten couldn't have a shelf put aside for a handful of Rubies, or even just a single sapphire. Maybe the "Amethyst" section of the prime kindergarten we see is only a small section, and the Rose Quartz gems were made just a few shelves down.

Couldn’t some gems be made in other colonies as Pink Diamond would’ve needed basic gems to begin a colony as a Diamond would at least need a court of diplomatic and aristocratic gems, an army, builders, etc, as shown with the Jades of two different courts fusing showing that Yellow Diamond doesn’t just have an army but a set of aristocratic gems, so some gems could’ve just been made off planet or in a different Diamond’s colony.

Definitely late to the party here, but great video! I'm doing research for a fanfic I'm writing and this helped out a lot. As a small addition, Jaspers, Carnelians and Agates all fall into the same sub-type of quartz - chalcedonies. This might partially explain why Kimberley Brooks voices both Carnelian and the Jaspers while Michaela Dietz voices the other types of quartzes, and why Peridot didn't find it odd for a Carnelian to have been produced in the beta kindergarten. Then again, Holly Blue Agate has a VA unique to her, sooo.... kind of impossible to speculate. The show isn't very strict regarding gemology, eg. Ruby + Sapphire and Emerald + Aquamarine are two pairs with identical gem makeups (corundum and beryl) with their only difference being color, yet they look vastly different and have different voice actors. Still, very interesting. With regards to the possibility of there being two Ocean Jaspers, I'm pretty sure her inconsistent voice acting was just an oversight by the crew, or maybe Ocean Jasper's lines were added into "Guidance" at a time when Brooks wasn't available to record for her... even though she voices Zebra Jasper in the same episode. It's hard to speculate, but I really don't think it was intentional.

However, if elemental factors exist, then bismuth's must be made by sticking an injector into a huge block of the element of bismuth.

I think it's kind of dumb to think that Rose Quartzes were _that_ uncommon. When Pink Diamond and Pearl went to visit the Kindergarten, Pearl had suggested her disguise be a Rose Quartz so she would fit in. Why not an Amethyst, a much more common guard, if going by your logic? When they arrived, nobody had even bat an eye at the presence of a Rose Quartz in an Amethyst-dominated area. They couldn't have been that uncommon. As for the Off-Color response to the mention of Rose, who wouldn't think of the most infamous person under that name, as by the time she had been well known, the other Rose Quartzes had certainly been poofed and bubbled in the Zoo. Take James Baxter as an example. You wouldn't think of the other James Baxters out there, you would think of the well-known animator that worked on this show and several others, such as Adventure Time. The Off-Colors knew about Rose Quartz because she was well-known as the leader of the rebellion, not just some random gem they all seemed to know about.

Idk if I'm hearing it wrong but I think you're referring to all of the new quartz soldiers as off colors. I don't think that's the case. I think a lot of them aren't off color at all, and they actually came out as they were intended to. As we see with Nephrite and her crew, a lot of Homeworld soldiers were corrupted during the Diamond attack. Also, a lot of the Crystal Gems weren't really off color. We have Bismuth, Sapphire, Ruby, Pearl, etc. that aren't necessarily off color, but rather chose to fight with the rebellion. I don't know if this is making sense, but it's just a tiny thing to help align them with their kindergardens.

I think you took the term "off-color" too literally. They aren't rejects because of their color, it's because of other factors. Sort of like disabilities. Though fusing is considered an off-color thing, even though is more of an ability than a disability.

What if pink diamond knew that the beta kindergarten would be a terrible kindergarten? Like think about it would you want to make more enemies to attack your planet or would you want to weaken homeworld with off colors and just waste their time. +the off colors would probably join the crystal gems too so it’s a win win

No I'm pretty sure the main kindergarten grows types of quarts and the beta is agates. So I'm thinking maybe the clear crystal quartzs came from the prime kindergarten but the opaque quartz all come from the beta.

Also,wouldn't the Diamonds fight with quartzes from different places? They can't just wait around for the other quartzes to pop out

I think only amethysts, rose quartzes and betas like jaspers and carnelians are made on Earth. The rest must be on Earth just to work on the colonization. Also there's the detail of "Pink having created rose quartzes" they keep mentioning. I think even the quartzes made on Earth before roses are made by other diamonds too (most probably YD + BD or YD + BD + PD) because PD had no experience yet and needed help.

When Peridot said out of the 2, she was just comparing those 2 kindergartens. She didn't mean only 2 existed. Also most of the quartz soldiers from both kindergartens were not off colours and Steven mentioned to Jasper half fought against the crystal gems.

I hadn't considered the beta kindergarten producing mostly off color quartz soldiers is what was considered "wrong" with it. That's such a cool idea compared to them being a mix of soldiers from other planets.

This is under the assumption that all crystal gems came from the earth. It's already confirmed that they didn't i.e. garnet and pearl. It is totally and entirely possible that gems not from earth joined the crystal gem rebellion. Which is why I think all of these gems were probably born someplace other than earth and in their own kindergartens like Amethyst and Jasper containing multiple gems of the same time.

They could've been sent from Yellow and Blue to aid in the fighting (in "Your Mother and Mine," Garnet says that Pink called for help from the other diamonds). I don't know when the Rose Quartzes were made but it was after the Prime and before the Beta (because Jasper emerged midway into the rebellion after all the RQs were bubbled). All gems under their diamond were made on their diamonds colonies and they tend to match the hue of their diamond or be close colors. Pink had orange, red, pink, and purple gems; Blue has blue, green and purple gems; Yellow has red, orange, yellow, brown, and green gems; White has white, rainbow (or multi-color), and grey to black gems. I think the ocean jaspers were made on Blue's colonies, but they could've been made on Pink's due to the pink splotches. Cherry is definitely one of Pink's along with the Lace Amethyst, so more than just quartz soldiers were made on Earth I assume. There was a kindergarten on Homeworld designated to Pink Diamond, that means Homeworld creates gems from all four diamonds and enabled Pink Court gems to be made before she had seized a colony and after her 'shattering'.

I think that each facet incubated different gems. The facet peridot amethyst and Steven first saw was a carnillian specific facet and there was a rose quartz section in the prime kindergarden and the quartzes you named offcolors might have been planned to be made and given to the other diamonds but since the rebellion forced the diamonds to make more gems their injectors got mixed up with the injectors that were originally made for the beta and prime kindergardens and they were most likely made for kindergardens that were never made as homeworld abandoned Earth

I was really confused to see Agates like Crazy Lace and Blue Lace be called Quartzes in Guidance when Holly Blue Agate is not a Quartz soldier but a higher ranking overseer type. Maybe it's just a continuity error or maybe the criteria for Quartz soldiers is more loose. I know in What's the Use in Feeling Blue there's a line about "an Agate terrifies" as their purpose which is pretty broad, so maybe certain Agates are soldiers and others are more highly ranked? I'm probably thinking too much about this.

there are many things wrong with this video, like you assuming that padparadschas were never made, and that rose quartz soldiers were meant to serve the human zoo, as we know in the flashback of rose when she became rose quartz for the first time, we saw her working with other gems on earth doing quartz stuff. Also when did rebecca determine that the diamond oils mixed make up the color of the gem? And even if that was true, that would mean that what made the gems a specific gemstone would be the location they were made, meaning that depending on the type of rock they were made in would determine their gem type which i think is completely wrong. Also the fact that you assume that the other quartzes came from earth is trully wrong, because we know that there were gems from different planets in the rebellion, such as ruby and sapphire, pearl, bismuth, etc. we know that quartz soliders are the most basic soldier in the gem hierarchy, so that means that they come from all around the universe, and from different planets, not just earth. Also we literally know that jaspers and carnelians came from the beta kindergarten, and amethystes and most likely rose quartzes came from the prime kindergarten as their colors match, meaning that the stone that they came from doesn't determine their type of gem they are, it might actually determine the color, and what actually determines their gem type are the diamond oils mixed together and their concentration of each oil. you also assumed that gems are off color for their literal color or hair by saying that gems with too much of one different mineral would make them off color, but what makes off color is their abilities, height, birth defects, feelings, etc. that make them nearly useless of hated so in conclusion this video is purely based on very loose assumtions.
