I want one but I'm kinda into SG with all the modern stuff so these appeal for vintage stuff. A modern Les Paul seems off to me.. Unless it's a Buckethead model... But I am working on getting a Jazzmaster underwound RWRP with a P90 bridge and a Series Parallel switch added to a Epiphone Junior.. Well.. It's a Les Paul 1.. Oh canadian tuxedo has a lined flannel jacket over lined jeans.. You sir are wearing Canadian Armor.

I’ve had the 2020 double cut and the new junior single cut The dc is much brighter sounding but theyre both awesome

it seems there a lot of good guitars around these days, but that sound you got there ill have too try one sounds nice i have a tele performer hum, fender stratt special humm i think one of these would add nicely to my collection

Moving the Jack was smart but I wish they kept the volume pot where it was so you could still manipulate the volume as you play.

Other difference is that the 2019 single pickup version has a long neck tenon! All of the 2020 models with side mounted jacks have routing under the pickguard for both pickups. However, with the 2019 models they didn't do the routing for the neck pickup, and left the long neck tenon intact ;)

Stan Lee yes that is why the early 2019 first released versions sound so much better and it sustains. Perhaps it has more wood material than the newer version. The early 2019 versions are sleepers as not many were made and were updated quickly.

does the long tenon really make a difference? i’m a fender guy and i don’t really understand the whole long tenon vs normal thing? if it’s a strong and tight fit pocket why would that make a difference?

Isn't the neck in the newer model just like a normal two pickup Les Paul or SG??? It looks the same to me when they are gutted. The 2019 single P90 versions of this model are ready made to add a neck pickup if you like....mine has good sustain, but I cannot speak for others.

Agree, I'm a Fender person, and if I play a Gibson it's a P90 one. Although truth be told I sold my Jr and bought another Fender.

To my ear, those sound better than any PAF LP. I’ve the older junior - which is routed for the neck pickup - it’s just hidden under the scratch plate. If I *wanted* that extra pickup, I’d move the jack to the rim, move the controls one place over to add in a switch where the volume pot currently lives. But I wanted the Junior… could move the jack and get another plate, I suppose… In fact, the only thing I dislike about the Jnr/Special tributes is the front loaded electronics. I know it saves time in that the body doesn’t have to be flipped for rear routing, but y’know… Amazing value. The dogs.

@A Man okay great see I was thinking of getting the junior at £1200 a lot more money but felt it’s a better build is it worth it? Or am I better getting the cheaper one at 700 ish I’m in the uk so it defo stays in tune? That’s my main worry

Isn’t E the relative minor of Gmaj? And B is the relative minor to Dmaj? So how is D the relative of G? Is Joss talking about some other relative we’re not aware of? Not asking as a “gotcha”, I’m honestly curious... Cheers.

I had one of the first tribute models earlier this year. I wanted so much to love it & keep it. The low cryo-treated frets were horrible for my taste/preference. I could live with the jack location, but the low frets, definitely *NOT* medium jumbo frets, makes a difference. And the guitar did a neck dive when you put a strap on it. So I spent my playing time standing up always using my left arm/hand to balance & shift the guitar. By the way, dude on the right... what's the purpose of the bullshit at 6:28? Get a grip on that ego, Capt Obvious.

@@valle4483 Not at all. I simply stated my personal experience with it for informational purposes for potential buyers. Some folks may love those low frets & the neck dive issue may not be a deal breaker for them. If so, enjoy that guitar!

@@jst601 Oh ok :) I was planning to buy the Les Paul Junior dc 2019 or a Fender player HSS tomorrow, that's why I was wondering. But I think it leans towards the fender :^)

@@valle4483 Gibson updated this guitar for the 2019 year, which is quite confusing...& *NOW* offers the guitar with medium jumbo frets & they moved the input jack to the bottom of the gtr, not top mounted in the pickguard. They "improved" it & raised the price $100.00. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqmZpKdolp-6oYk.html I sold my Junior & bought 2 Fender Player Series Strats: an HSH & an SSS.

I would have bought one of these over the epiphone les Paul special tv yellow P90's guitar if they didn't have the square neck profile that really sucks, but the epiphone les Paul special tv yellow P90's guitar from epiphone has a fat round neck shape that is awesome.

1 of each means you never grab the wrong knob LOL. In my case I'm always lost when spending a lot of time with teles and Strats and then going over to the Les Paul....

I prefer the the Junior over the two P90s. It seems the bridge pickup on the Les Paul Jr. had more gritter and handled overdrive better than the two pickup one. I like the Junior better, IMHO...Thank you for posting this.

Yes but only the bottom entry jack version, its routed out for 2 humbuckers

@@DannysGandB that's the current version, isn't it? AFAIK the 2019 model had the SG style jack, the newer one has the Les Paul style. Thanks for the good news - I'd like to get two of them and replace the P90 with a 490 humbucker on one :)

Yeah the current version is the les Paul style it can adapt to humbuckers, there on offer at the moment from guitar guitar for about £550

@@DannysGandB That's a two-pickup model, and I'm getting one with a single pickup - but it does look promising! But - even if fitting a humbucker will require some woodwork - I'll have it done by somebody with the right tools. You know what they say - when there's will, there's a way ;) BTW - it looks to me like the DC bass is the same body, and the bass has a bigger pickup - so perhaps they make one version of the body to fit the biigest pickup of the line, so maybe it'll be large enough to fit a 490T. Anyways - I've ordered one for now, I'm going to leave the P90 in it, but I'll see for myself how large the pickup cavity is. Cheers!

How could they not notice that the jack position is NOT the only difference? The volume and tone controls are obviously placed differently on the body - this makes a difference when playing, as well as visually. Another very significant difference is the tenon and routing. The case is OK for keeping the dust off - not much more. Wonder why they didn’t show it? Really, this video wasn’t worth watching.
