I think interviewing styles like this is what helped lead to the dumbing down of the electorate. Susannah keeps asking the same question re: growth expecting a specific, simple answer. When told that it's a bit more complex than providing a specific figure, she then continues to ask the same question again, as though she has "caught him out". This makes it appear that he is avoiding answering her question when he had already answered it (and gave the reason why he was unable to provide a specific figure).

Yes it's typical, the point of the interviewer is to challenge the person being interviewed and put the opposing argument to them, stop them if they feel they're dodging the question etc. It can be robust, and sometimes I think there's too much emphasis on trying to get a 'gotcha' moment, but it's right that politicians should be challenged. Darren does well here, he's good at this sort of thing.

I'm sure the next government will also say they will need to fix the economy again unless it's the same party.

Ha! It's gonna take more than one government term to fix the massive amount of damage the Tories caused. 15-20 years, if ever. Being out of the EU and no longer in the customs market makes bringing things back to pre Tory era almost impossible.

@Irishgui83 so you wish Labour to have power for the next 15-20 years? Keep wishing, and good luck with that. If they're lucky, they'll last next 5 years at maximum.

@@viktor_with_a_k828 interesting that I wrote it would take 15-20 years, if ever, for the country to recover, and you automatically assume that what I meant was that Labour will be in government for those 15-20 years. Freudian, some might say 🤔

@@Irishgui83 pre Tory was Blair/Brown Labour, which you clearly don't remember.

Remember they have 2 hope Bob hope and no hope of any achievements. He should come and look at my books and bank balance as most at braking point. They will just borrow more money at a very high interest rates also what would happen if we had another emergency G-D for bid.
