Oh, I love the effects created with these paints! I agree with the comments about these acting more like color shift paints, rather than granulating. Either or, it's all fun. I couldn't resist ordering, they'll be here tomorrow. Congratulations on being noticed by Kuretake, it's about time! You are an excellent ambassador for the brand!

Good for you. I don't have any experience with the color shifting paints. As soon as I could see what these paints are capable of doing, I was thinking that with the directions, they're absolutely worth the education. ❤

Did you try them yet? How did you find them?
@patriciadickerson66284 ай бұрын
@@allisonjames2923 I did! I only had a couple minutes to try them out. I made a watery mix with one color in the empty pan. It did exactly as Diane's. The colors separated in the water and then I washed it on a piece of paper. I'll have some serious time to play with them on Wednesday.

Hi Diane I watched this video on my television, but had to come on my phone because I just have to comment. Yes, you did an excellent job explaining the effects and best ways to use these paints. Although I live in the city in NC USA I recently got new neighbors who have three roosters. At first while watching your tutorial I thought I was hearing my new roosters, but since it was dark (way past time for my guys to be crowing) I realized the cockadoodledoos were coming from your roosters - very far away! I love unpredictable paints with multiple colours in them. It’s why I love Distress Oxides & Brushos so much. It’s funny that I love them so much, when I tend to paint very detailed, controlled, precise images. But when I use uncontrollable mediums, I get results I like much better

@@Reeflections same. I have enough paints from DS, M Graham, Rosa etc etc so I didn’t want more of the same from a different company. But since Diane has been appreciating Kuretake I bit the bullet on nouveau because I love the colour scheme. I might also buy Kuretake shadow. I love dark moody murky colours. The Boku Undo esumi ink is a bit hit and miss for me. I have it but the black is too overpowering. Kuretake shadow has more of the underlying pigment ( red blue etc), rather I can see them clearly. I am slowly veering towards Japanese watercolors. Heavens…..they will have cremate me with my paints 🤦🏽♀️ ( and my eyeshadow palettes).

Diane, thank you for another informative and fun video. I'm in love with the colors and the affect of the Kuretake granulating paints. You know me, I love vintage and these are going to be so much fun to paint with! As I was watching your video and seeing your birds and dragonflies, it reminded me that until fate (via KZfaq) brought you into my life, I never was able to draw anything remotely looking like a bird or dragonfly. Because of watching your videos and you taking the time to sketch your drawings out for us, I am now able to draw a bird that actually looks like a bird, and a dragonfly that looks like a dragonfly. Your beautiful, calming voice and sweet stories relax me and creates an environment to relax in. After watching this video, I just purchased the paints and they arrive tomorrow. My husband will be thrilled that I've purchased more paints...(that's a joke). But in all sincerity, he is very supportive of me growing as an artist and he's my biggest fan, always reminding me about how much I've improved. Thank you for getting me to the place I am now, and whether I'm "good" at painting or not, it doesn't matter, I'm having fun!

Thanks so much 😊 No, I agree, they are more like color shift paints as they are two colors mixed which separate in water, definitely different from other granulating paints - back in the day we had a few heavily granulating pigments, like ultramarine, which did funky things in mixes. I’ve been playing with my granulating set for about a week now. They are not what I expected, as I’m very familiar with Daniel Smith and Schmincke granulating paints. However, they do leave very unusual color patterns when using wet on wet. I don't like using them wet on dry. I am going to try them on yupo paper, as the much longer drying time might really increase the separations of colors. Thank you for this video. The dragonflies are lovely.

love your dragonflies! they remind me of an awesome experience i had one year at our small pond. i noticed a dragonfly larva getting attacked by ants while trying to morph into it's wings. i picked it up & removed the ants then sat it on a rock island i had built into the middle of the pond. checking on it throughout the day i gained hope that it would survive the ant attack. the next morning i hurried out to the pond & there was the dragonfly sitting on a papyrus stem in all it's glory. i started to reach for it then pulled back as i didn't want to harm it more than it had already been harmed, at that point it flew up then back onto the stem so i reached out again & it flew to my hand & let me gently pet it. such a wonderful experience i was gifted with! science can say all they like about there not being any communication between, animals, insects, fish, birds & even plants (including trees) but i am thoroughly convinced that if we just open our minds we will find that nature is just as eager as we are to communicate. keep painting nature!
@DianeAntoneStudio4 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for sharing that lovely experience! You’re so right about nature and we do our best here to rescue and communicate with as much of our animal and plant world as possible. I want to put a small pond in the garden to help the insect life which seems to have diminished over the past few years (we had a serious drought two years ago and then it has been exceptionally cold and wet ever since…) and we take as much care as we can over all living things xxx
