Type 1 and Prednisone (sinus infection) nearly killed me. My ENT didn't care that I was a Type 1 and put me on Prednisone. BG shot up to 750. I'm 105 lbs. I started wild vomiting and delirium. My BG monitor and gauge tool was broken. I was begging my doctor for another BG monitor kit and they refused to authorize a new BG monitor kit. ICU for days, almost died.

I've controlled my Type 1 largely through diet. A lot of avocados, eggs, some Ezekiel bread, fish maybe every 7-10 days, pea protein, Jack fruit, a lot of pure mayonnaise. My doctor claims that this is impossible and I'm classified "non-compliant" because I don't always take insulin. I had my Insulin Levels checked ....I'm producing 1 unit (is unit the correct measurement?). I was told 15 years ago that I'm running on an "insulin fume" and I'll soon be dead if I don't take insulin on the regular. Fifteen years later, I'm fine and independent - except almost just died last week because an ENT put me on Prednisone for a sinus infection.
