From personal experience the biggest help to maintain your wellbeing relating to glucose levels is to be in the moment, take active control and ownership and that is 80% of your battle. The rest is being mindful of what you eat, when you eat it and balanced with mild exercise. Very quickly you will see results and your anxiety will reduce.

Dietitian here-Great video and content. As you said, eating fruit after a meal helps reduce the glucose spike from fruit. But also, any fruit balanced with protein or fat helps reduce blood sugar spike as well. With regard to bananas, greenish bananas have resistant starch and prebiotic fiber so the sugars are absorbed more slowly. Also, exercising after, or simply doing chores after help lower the glucose spike as well. Side note-having a tablespoon of vinegar before eating fruit helps decrease blood sugar. Or if you’re having a meal high in carbs, you can incorporate vinegar into a salad dressing or some other component of the meal. Additionally, eating the vegetables and protein before the carbs help as well. Best of success to you all!!

Fruit after a meal of protein ferment in your gut because you are delaying the digestion of it. Proteins need acid to digest and carbs need starch ... see what you are doing? Best fruit to eat after a meal ...none.

@@tomjones2157According to a number of studies avocados actually are fairly low in oxalates (average of 19 mg for a medium sized one) but high in fiber, nutrients & essential fatty acids which can help you LOSE weight in the long run. Many people do not eat ENOUGH healthy fats & therefore HOLD ON to or RETAIN fat on their bodies. Oxalates can be flushed by drinking enough water especially lemon water taking magnesium & consuming water based fruits & veggies like asparagus, cucumbers & watermelon. ❤🍋🍉🥒

Begin changing what you eat, when you eat, drink plenty of water, reduce process foods and carbohydrates and eventually go to a low carb diet. Remember to decrease insulin you must not constantly eat and snack. That's why intermittent fasting have helped so many people reversed their diabetes caused it helped lower their insulin. There are other vitamins that help you become insulin sensitive again.

My Calcium scan score of 1300, (3 years ago) most likely is due to metabolic syndrome/Type-2. The Standard American Diet (SAD) for 50 years caused me a wide range of problems. The plaque that's most likely to kill me is just one of the problems. But, I started Keto in 2017, and that might be the reason I'm still here. Above ground. Might make it to 80 with any luck..

Thank you for this detailed presentation.I am not a doctor but i have known great success in comsuming a plant based diet which includes seeds, sparing nuts, organic vegetables, fruits and grains. Walking for I hour each morning. Comsuming pure rain water not with meals, going to bed by 9 pm or 10 pm. Having faith in God this deals with our guilt, fears and other mental issues that will cause stress and regret that wears out ones mental adjustmment state. If your are diabetic focus on your savory fruits eg string bean, okra, cho cho, bitter melon, pumpkin, use sparing amount of fresh coconut milk instead of oil. Cooking with oil can be danaging. Have carbs that dont spke the blood sugars. Thus food combination is key dont mix fruits with vegetables, dont eat and drink, keep liquid foods to a minimum unless occassionally with your irsh moss, spurlina, cholerella and avocado super food mix .and no comsumption of vinegars that mess with your gut issues. That could be you next research does vinegar damages my gut issues, do you see what it does when cleanimg. It completely amazing how it cleans a staimed /dirty tile. Exercise and strech outdoors, open yoiur home to air and sunshine. Bake your grains at low heat for 2 1/2 hpurs before use. Mango leaf and bay leaf tea and other teas will help with diabetes and other issues that are present. Let me know if these tips help you remember to be exercise moderation.

My favorite fruit is frozen cantaloupe! I am dieting and I find that when I eat cantaloupe every day, I lose more weight. I consider that a win. I also love frozen grapes, but they have to be saved for special occasions. lol

The skin of the banana is equally useful in providing minerals and vitamins as is the actual fruit. It can be pickled using salt, vinegar and a little water, after it is cleaned (before eating) and the hard ends removed, and this skin allowed to go black during a pickling week in a glass jar in the fridge.

What needs to really be tested is the length of time ones glucose spikes. When your glucose spikes fast but goes away fast, the effect on your body is reduced dramatically. The 3 white foods keep it up for many hours, with insulin or not. Spikes have not affected my A1c unless it stays spiked. My experience.

The rinds, peels, pith of fruits such as Watermelon, Orange, Mandarin, Pomegranate, Bananas, Dragon Fruit contain much of the same vitamins, minerals and antioxidants as the fruit that they wrap. So if you finely chop these peels in thin slices, dehydrate them at 200F for about 180 minutes, when they are dry blend them into a fine powder using a blender, you can keep these peels or rinds on a sealed glass jar or tin and add them to your smoothies when you make smoothies which use fruit from what you put in the red bowl. If you use a sweetener for your coffee such as Monk Fruit or stevia, you can also add a teaspoon of this powered peel into your coffee and blend it. This will not only reduce your insulin response to the sweet taste, it will increase the vitamin and antioxidant content of your beverage.

I've been told to avoid the skins, probably due to pesticides and lectins, but the pits aren't something I've considered. I will have to look into them. Thanks!

@@naomiAcronym the pith is part of the skin of the fruit. On citrus fruit such as a orange or a lemon or a lime, the zest is the part with the color (orange, yellow, green) the pith is the white part as well as the white part that holds the sections together. Not to be confused with "pit" such as the stone or seed of the a peach or avocado in the center. For the stone or seeds of the fruit, it's best to look up if they are edible first as some plants discourage people from eating them by putting anti-nutrients in them. One example, the seed of the apple contains a bit of arsenic in it.

This is one of the most informative videos I have ever watched on fruits it’s GI and insulin impact - thank you 🙏 who would have thought blueberries 🫐 spike is higher than raspberries and having small amounts of watermelon is always a challenge for me so I make a salad with feta cheese watermelon red onion basil olive oil and lemon - it’s lowers the spike of the watermelon - also wrapping a slice of ham or prosciutto around a slice of cantaloupe is another good hack - I pair my pears with a small handful of nuts or a slice of cheese and my kiwis with yoghurt - grapefruit impacts how high blood pressure medication is processed - try making a mango salad with avocado red onion olive oil lime juice I have this as a salad with my salmon - generally having your protein fat and fibres before carbs and sugar helps lower insulin spikes

Hi Tom, I have an idea for another video using these exact same fruits, but first, I want to thank you for this one and tell you how much I appreciate the effort and the information. It must have taken several days to work through that many fruits. Really excellent. Anyway, the idea for another video. Did you see the study conducted by researchers in Japan where they had participants first drink a glass of water with one or two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar stirred into the water, and then they performed tests like you just did. But instead of fruits they did it with rice and other high carb foods that are common to the Japanese diet. The result was by simply drinking a glass of water with a tablespoon of the vinegar before eating the food, the sugar response dropped by 25% or more. What if you did this fruit test all over again, but before eating it you drank a glass of water with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar? What if the net result was to move fruits in the “yellow” bowl into green, or from “red” to “yellow.” Or what if it has no effect, or what if it affects some fruits but not others? I think it would be fascinating - especially if it works. It could become a kind of secret weapon for diabetes eating. But that’s again for this video. It’s going to help my life.
