I worked installing Home Depot Led,s high bay lights . They are set higher than that and come with dimmer sensor to adjust to daylight.Newer ones have motion sensors and are connected via internet to the main HD headquarters for data storage...Soon they will know how many times employees take a shit . And will track when merchandise is out in the shelves or leaves the store without paying for it ...Crazy times

Cool, looks great. Fyi was waiting for you to get to... left out the 2 most important things regarding led lights - 1st lumens for brightness (you spoke about old school "watts" which really no longer mean anything) and 2nd ... color temp... of which some lights have a variable setting for 4/5/6.5 K which is super cool. But these 2 specs are the most important factors along with dispersion patterns in shape and degrees of radius at a given height
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
5k color and 21k lumens per light. The watts I was referring to for conversion to amps. That is important since I was referring to wiring and breaker loads.

Can you see the leds if you look up? I just bought another brand and got a few to test out and if you look up and then look away you can see the leeds in your eyes for at least 10 min. I got them sized by a company so they should be right for my space.

Look into spotlights you can aim at spots that you need good lights like at a work station. A wall switch near a work station that you can turn on/off some spot lights to give you no shadows can be very useful. How nice would it be to have good lights at a drill press? On the bench grinder? Look into Wago style wire nuts with the amount of electrical work you are going to be doing soon. The ability to be able to sit at a table/bench and wire up all the switches and outlets with pig tails so you can quickly get them into the boxes with the lever style connectors. Check with the inspector if they are on the approved list first as it would suck to spend on them then need to go back and redo every connection simply because a code hasn't been updated to allow them. I thought you don't want jacketed cable inside conduit as it can build up heat inside the pipe.

Now THIS is the kind of influencer video review we need. This guy knows what he wants, what he expects, and how it should work. Anyone who's watched the ice maker testing knows this is a guy all about results and numbers, not just feelings and guesswork. If he's not getting what he wanted from these lights, he will say so and have a list of what's wrong. And we didn't get that because the product does what it claims to do. And we can all see it. So this is a relevant product in the hands of someone actually qualified to use it. Can't ask for better.

Thanks a lot for taking the time and effort to make this video! I am having a hard time finding videos where people are using these high bay LED lights with the optional diffusers / reflectors. I guess not many people must know yet they could be a nice addition to reduce spotlight glare and spread the light out more evenly. Perhaps you would want to try some and see the difference and shoot a video (perhaps others would like to see as well)... I ordered some high bay lights and diffusers for my shop but they have not arrived yet, was just looking for some videos showing lights with diffusers.
@matrixmatico695

How much you paid for them??
@ojwilks
@ojwilks Жыл бұрын
@@matrixmatico695 I bought the Hyperlite diffusers (clear lense, not milky lense) on Amazon, a few 2-packs for $90, and a 4-pack for $190. Just search Amazon for title: 'HYPERLITE 60 Degree PC Reflector ONLY for Hero Series LED High Bay Light (Clear with Cover)2-Pack'.. I'm happy I got the diffusers though, the light is much more evenly spread out. Also helps that the walls and ceiling of my shop are white (with the vapor barrier), white interior helps reflect the light around better., there's no shadow in there, even when lights turned down to full dim on the dimmer.
@matrixmatico695

@@ojwilks I got 12 RAE...180 watts .20 k lumens .. I left the diffusers just got 7 and 2 broke in my truck. Got them when upgraded a shop...They are 400 dlls new . They are practically new . They are rated for 100k hours. I though diffuser was not importan. Thanks for the info . I might look for a cheap one ...RAE original cost 60 dlls each
@ojwilks
@ojwilks Жыл бұрын
@@matrixmatico695 Yeah, try a couple out on one end of the shop first, see how they work for you. They make the light not so spotlight-like, bleeds a little light up to the ceiling to light up my white ceiling and reflect more, and they bleed a lot more light to the sides, no hotspot down onto the floor right underneath the light fixture..

Kelly 20amp breaker is turning your extension cord into a fusible link. 12g wire is great but your breaker must be the weakest link in your circuit not one of the strongest. I suggest a 10amp breaker if you can get them if not, 15amp.
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
I should have been more clear. 20 Amp breaker feeds two different outlets. Those outlets supply two lights, plus two separate extension cords that feed two more 1.6 Amp lights. There is no risk of overloading anything.
@markgibson3050
@markgibson3050 3 жыл бұрын
You want the breaker to protect the circiut(s). If your max load is 1.6 amps then you want a 2.0 amp breaker [which the don't make]. You want the lowest amperage breaker that supports your nominal load. The 12g wire goes with the 20amp breaker yes but the xtension cords & lights themselves are your weak links. If something shorts down stream of the extension cords or within a light they could start a fire without tripping your 20amp breaker.

@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
Closed cell since it's also a vapor barrier as well. I'd recommend that if going directly over tin. It's still hot being in Florida, but it made a big difference in my opinion. I had my shop a few weeks before the spray foam guy came out so I was able to compare it.

Yes, those 4 high bay lights pull about 150-200 more watts than my 10 4ft lights. But, they are also brighter than my 10 lights. In total I'm pulling right at 1000 watts with all of them on.

Hey I'm curious about why you did the insulation on the roof of your shop? I have shop and when it rains, it's crazy loud in there, I was thinking a ways to lessen the noise. Does the insulation help with heat or rain noise?
@TKCL
@TKCL 3 жыл бұрын
It's still loud, but it definitely helps with rain. The main reason for insulation in the roof was because that's where the majority of the sun hits and was the hottest part of the building. You can now put your hand on the foam in the middle of the day and it's not blistering hot. It made a huge difference. I wanted to insulate the entire shop, but it was way out of my price range.
@DustinDoesStuff
@DustinDoesStuff 3 жыл бұрын
