seems like the single gang low voltage boxes would be a pain to deal with when installing the speakers. Speaker brackets make a world of difference. let me know how that the install goes on those recessed speakers. Should have went with a standard size with 6 or 8 inch woofers, especially on the exterior when dealing with wood. Also your rough in brackets are centered on the wall. Seems logical but always account for the TV wall mount being centered and your low voltage boxes off centered so you dont have a tough time installing TVs centered on studs. Also, when prepping for a rack, come in high with your wire so you can easily pull out the rack to service it. Coming in low will have your rack always running over excess wire. and harder to service.

Do you ever take a similar approach with ENT conduit (smurf tube)? Save on the copper wiring and give flexibility for any cable type in the future. I can just imagine fiber optics (or something) replacing all these cables at some point.
@davidtruitt4948
@davidtruitt4948 3 жыл бұрын
Yes. For several of the main areas, we usually will run conduit ( smurf tube ) along with the CAT6 cables for future cabling. Of course, you have to be able to get where the smurf tube goes from point A to B. Not all areas will work to be able to get back to the home run though. We have run behind someone else ( company ) in the past that ran smurf tube and they didn't run it correctly and didn't put a pull string in for crazy bends that they ran. We weren't able to fish it even with the smurf tube in place. So, we would suggest if you put in smurf tube during the prewire, also do a pull string for easy pulling later. Lol Thanks for watching!!

I seen in Theater room that your guys wire was touching high voltage power. That will cause problems down the road whether it be static in audio, latency in video, etc. Also even though most of that stuff gets covered by drywall its always nice to make it look good and keep your wires off the trusts, whether it be with hooks, pull and hook as you go. Id start lacing the WAPS in the ceiling along with the speakers behind speaker rings. Now I have a reasoning behind all this. 1. Never trust any other trade to watch out for your wires. If they have to come back in to fix something in ceiling they most likely won't pay no mind to your wires. Higher up in the ceiling the better. And the WAPS and speakers letting wire hang like that even though it may have not happen yet its always good to take into consideration that drywallers could burry them or cut them and then you'll have to pull that wire again. Any questions just ask! I have tons of tips and clips pictures etc i could message you. 16-2 for sub? Id use 16-4 due to its higher power. 16-2 for in ceiling speakers alarm etc. 16-4 for siren, touch screen/iPad. Motion. The cameras should be different color than blue cat to speed up labeling and trimming when it comes to that stage. Idk its just the way id do things. Good job though!

Questions: Are you guys not wiring for shades? Also, why arent you using prewire brackets for the audio zones? I understand you may use any speaker you want to after trimout, but man. Someone is going to be cutting out speaker holes for a LONG time if you dont use brackets. Especially in a tongue and groove ceiling. Great video!
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo 2 жыл бұрын
On this particular house, we didn’t get to meet the homeowner unfortunately. The builder didn’t want us to wire for shades. I do agree about the speakers, but if we don’t know which speaker or if for sure they are putting in speakers right off the bat, then we will use these brackets. It is a lot of cutting when we do go back to put in speakers, but we charge them for it. Lol

What type of box do you use on exterior walls when the builder is going to be using spray foam?
@stephengilstrap
@stephengilstrap 2 жыл бұрын
We use the deepest electrical box we can find for a 6" wall. THat way no foam gets in and you still have enough room for a coil of wires in the box. If you need, mount a 2 gang box for even more room. Also, companies like Snap One have backboxes specific for behind TV locations where you can prewire for power and low voltage wires. They are usually 14.5" by 14". You can fit a media receiver or Samsung One Connect inside them. They are awesome.

Cool video. Curious as to the choice of why amps on the bottom of they generate the most heat and heat rises?
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo 11 ай бұрын
Typically for weight and the amount of cabling that goes into them. We always place the amps, multi- channel amps and AVR's toward the bottom of a rack and network gear at the top. In the middle section of a rack is normally all the sources for both video and audio, surge protection and control system controllers and camera NVR's. If you have a full rack of equipment, we'll also do intake and outtake fans built into the rack. That way they can pull in fresh air at the bottom and pull the hot air out the top. Hope this helps.

For the house wide audio speakers, we'll use 16/2 speaker wire. ( depending on the distance ) If it's a fairly large house, we'll only use 14/2 speaker wire. For Home theater and speakers in backyards such as landscape systems, we'll use 14/2 speaker wire. All wire is jacketed and made to run inside walls. No unshielded lamp cord. lol Thanks for watching!!

You would need a good CAT6 cable and possibly CAT6a. Depending on what's available in your area, It also maybe a good idea to run fiber from the DMARK location to where the equipment & internet is going to be. Typically for us, we run it to the main home run equipment rack.

Why did you use a single gang box for cieling speakers in the living room? What type of speakers are getting installed?
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo
@GreatChoiceAudioVideo 2 жыл бұрын
If the client hasn’t fully decided which speakers they are doing or if they are over budget and decide not to do speakers when the house is done, then these are really nice. They space off the stud more to make it easier to cut in pretty much any speaker one the drywall is done. If they choose they want to do speakers later, then a blank plate is installed and easily removed later once they decide to add speakers there. It just gives us a better option if someone is totally undecided during the time of the prewire. Hope that helps! Thanks

How come you use single gang boxes for the speakers rather than pre construction speaker brackets? Do u use any boxes for the AP locations?

We do use speaker brackets if we already know what type of speaker we are installing when the house is complete. If we don't, then we like to use the speaker single gang boxes. We use the orange one's that have a spacer on them. That way, it's a little further away from the stud when we go to cut out the speaker opening. For the AP's, we do normally put in a single gang box, because the access points we use now can be installed easier and cleaner with the access point bracket that snaps into place. Hope this helps.
