Stop feeding your babies to the horses! It’s all laughs and fun until somebody gets badly hurt, then everybody gets upset with the horse. This isn’t DisneyWorld, respect these Horses and Guard’s and stop acting like fools!!! Everybody wants to be the star of the show. 😮😮😮😮

I remember in high school they didn’t need police to keep the crowds from bothering the guards or getting in the way. People used to be polite and respectful…such a bummer

Do not let children near the horse. Horses weigh more than 400 kilograms. People break bones just by being stepped on by a horse, and die when they are kicked.

I must disagree. I started riding when I was 3 yrs old and my children started a bit later as access to horses had changed. But we’ve always been around horses you do have to pay attention.

I'm sorry, but who in their right mind would allow a small child to stand in front of a horse , who is unknown to them. ? Logic would tell you that if for some reason the horse spooked and reared, jogged forward or swung itself round pdq, the child is stood directly within the danger zone. Please parents,,just stop and think. I'm glad that the little boy was alright though!

Horses don't feel comfortable going into small dark spaces and an uncomfortable horse will ' chew' on a bit just like a human will chew on their cheek. He settled and loved the attention. Good rider let him toss his head so he felt some control but kept him steady with his legs. Rider was probably more stressed than he was

Tourons don't seem to understand that they are guests on a military installation. Their continued, sustained ignorance of the required respect for the Guards and the horses will result in the loss of privilege to visit the installation. That it hasn't happened yet is testimony to the King's Life Guards horsemanship and vigilance. Until a definitive "plan of the day," is established though the horses will continue to suffer...in front of a watching and disapproving world. Get it together London.

I can understand why the horses get upset with tourists I wouldn’t like being crowded by tourist and touched all the time, plus dealing with parents with small kids that don’t watch them. These guards and horses are working leave them alone, this is coming from America it has me upset with what they have to deal with

Don't be so melodramatic! The horses are on duty for ONE HOUR...hardly life-threatening for any horse, let alone these animals which are among the best looked after on the planet. As you can see, there is sufficient room for a horse to move around in the sentry boxes, and for the record, even wild horses spend most of their time standing up!

It’s not really tradition, they are guarding an important place. I get they need to run around but they do! Without tourists, the horses can go on breaks. My dad was in the Cavarly and he went in the water with his horse

Touching the horses is allowed. Touching the reins is NOT. These horses and riders in antique uniforms are purely a tourist attraction - that is their job!

Their main job is actually armed reconnaisance. They do spend some time on ceremonial duties, such as here where they are guarding the official entrance to Buckingham Palace and MoD offices and military quarters, but most of their time is spent training for operations in conflict zones such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Being a tourist attraction is incidental and brings in lots of tourist dollars. That does not give thoughtless tourists the right to take liberties with either horses or troopers.
