New House Plans! | Living Room Makeover
We finally got the house blueprints for Jamie's new house plans! We are going to be building on an addition to our house so Jamie can have a permanent residence. We also do a living room makeover and it turned out amazing!

I think the idea of building up on the garage and adding the other space as well, would be a great idea. If anything happens to where any of the kids need to come home and live for a while they will still have their own space. I can't wait to see what you guys decide!

I rather get a job that will Help me afford a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom Apartment!! I'm gonna be getting a paying job soon!! I have a mild intellectual Disability myself and very independent I was working before at a Day Program before the COVID-19 Pandemic hit I was working before COVID-19 hit Now I'm getting a new job!!!

That would be so cool to have 4 apartments. You will have room for any of the kids when they become adults and if anything comes up where they need a place to rent for a little while you could save there day once again. I wish I had parents like Crystal and Aaron. Love you guys💜

I absolutely loveeee Aaron's idea of 4 appartments & what your thinking of, Jamie, helping out 2 other kids and leave one for the Missionaries. They work so hard for our Church/Heavenly Father.. they're away from their families for 2 years serving and to know they have that protection renting from yourselves whist serving would be amazing and a blessing for not only them but you guys too. Pleaseeeee do go ahead 💕

The apartments would be great to rent out at a great cost for teens who have aged out of foster care, that you can't adopt but can within your hearts and help them get from being kicked out of a foster home due there age to going into one of your apartments and guiding them to do studying work etc, all while having a stable apartment and a great family below who would adopt them in there hearts 😊

I don't know about US but in South Africa, homes to rent or buy are exceptionally expensive. So having studio apartments/granny flats is the way to go. Many kids move in and pay rent to learn independence. Many parents then secretly invest rent money and pay it to kids when they are ready to leave. Also Crystal you could have kids from group homes start their journey with you. While teaching them life skills, money investment and budgeting etc. Or anyone elderly from your church who needs a roof over their heads. Aaron I love the idea. We had one built for my mom. When she passed away it was in her bed in her "home". Now we rent it to an amazing young tenant. Love the make over.

Four separate apartments. I was actually thinking the other day , after you gifted Bella the medical school stuff.. I was thinking 💭..wow.. ssoon everyone will be grown. What will Aaron and Crystal do with all of that space? This makes sense! Thinking ahead of the game Aaron. 😉 smart Dad! Great 💡

Always room for guests, always room for the kids if they want to practise renting before doing it for real, or just need somewhere to stay and of course always room for the beautiful Jamie. So lucky to have each other 💙

Building above the garage does sound like a good option! I don't know how big they would be if you put in 4 apartments, but I've seen that Jamie has a lot of belongings and jigsaw puzzles that she'll need space for, especially if you want it to work out in the long run, you should make sure that she has enough space. A little studio apartment behind the garage might turn out to be a bit small for her? Having a spare apartment does also sound a good idea too - as you could do various things with it like rent it to the kids, to missionaries, and if you're planning to still be living there in 15 years time, maybe it would even become Aurora's

Having apts connected to your house would be good because if your teens are 17 or 18. They can live in the apt and that will teach them life skills and will help them to learn how to do things on their own and if they wanted to move to another location. You helped them to grow on living on their own. Like my group home did just that for me in having my own apt connected to the group home. I learned skills.

i think 4 apartments is an awesome idea ! you have so may kids and so many in high school it would be a great learning experience for them all before actually moving and sometimes our kids come back home so you would always have personal space for any of your older children to be able to come back home if needed.

Aaron super excited about the options for the garage and the next clip is Crystal excited about a rug lol. This family always full of fun surprises! Ooouuu new channel idea... Crazy Surprises (going around to friends, family, church or community and doing room makeovers/good deeds/charity all being full surprises.

You and your architects have probably already thought about this, but just in case: Please consider making one of the apartments ADA compliant because we don’t know what the future holds and having full accessibility now will be easier and less expensive than retrofitting it later.

If you are planning on staying in the home more long term, you could have another apartment for Aurora if she needs one💝 also it would be a great transition if any kids are having trouble emotionally moving out.

You could also adopt a couple more kids or Foster some kids with the extra rooms. There are a lot of kids out there to need a little more love and support from adults. Everything you and sister have done changes their lifes for the better.

I think it would be cool to have Jamie’s apartment and an extra one for the other kids and then with the other space either a family theatre room to watch movies or a room where the kids can for quiet or destress/decompression time!

I rather have a game room with Billiards table and a dart board I like to do darts and Shoot Billiards and put a outdoor Shooting Range for Archery I have 2 good arms to aim the arrows with the bow at the bullseye of a Target!

As a mom, I LOVE the 4 apartment option! 😍 each of the teenagers could have a "trial stay" before moving out completely. 🙏🏻 that would be really great. they could first gain self-confidence in living alone. I would really do that.

I love the makeover. As I was watching the room come together, I was saying exactly what you all said at the end of the video ... It makes the room appear larger and much brighter! Fingers crossed you will be allowed to add on to the house. It would give you so many options! I do wonder if you could make some kind of additional storage area. Just a thought

I LOVE CRAZY PIECES to PIECES! All the kids are blessed to have ya'll. I think the apartment idea is great. Jamie, Halie, Ariana, Alex & Savannah could benefit from it. Leave them gold & do sparkling tops. Aunt Bonnie's clear coat is the best idea. Almost like a decapage vibe. Aunt Bonnie & Grandma are like a Shelly & Crystal older generation. So much fun!

As someone with autism, this is so heartwarming to see. I like independence but also don’t like living alone, it’s definitely rough being on your own when you’re not neurotypical 😅 Took me a year to finally get comfortable cooking in my own home

With the extra room/homes you build, the children could have it as a half way house developing skills before they get their own place. Also, a bit of an out there idea… if someone in your neighbourhood/church group ever has an emergency perhaps escaping domestic violence, a fire, or something you could temporarily offer a safe place until they are ready to move on? Maybe you could do a fundraiser for a local foster groups and auction the ornament/decoration you weren’t fond of. Then something that doesn’t bring you joy could bring others joy, and it’s served with its purpose.I’m sure people here would get involved. :)

I think the 3 apartments would be a great add on for your family. One for Jamie 2nd apartment for the next teen who is about to move out ( as a learning apartment) or for Hannah. 3rd as a guest room area. (Also remember Auroa wont be little long and she will want her own living space as well) As for the "Not enough room for pictures area" I would put pictures in the windows you have on each side of your pictures. Make it a family walll. That way you can add the kids spouses, grandkids. ~Just a thought.

Depending on what can be done, 4 apartments would be cool, definitely one for Jamie, then when some of the older kids want more independent living the other apartments would be great starting points for them. Also would make great guest accommodation for when visiting family or friends come to visit for a while. The room make over looks so much better. Crystal think your mom would love you to do a room makeover for her. Blessings to you all.

The teen room came out amazing!!!! 4 extra lil apartments isn't a bad idea. Most likely Aurora will also eventually need a safe place to be more independent but still be by y'all so there's one for Jaimie one for aurora for now can be an added play space and than 2 extras to help out anyone in your family 🥰

I made my home a two story home from. A single story by cutting the roof off too. I think that's a great idea. Plus no need for a permit if building up. Atleast not in my state.

Another thing to consider is there could be a time in the future where you need to help take care of your mom or Aunt Bonnie. Having an apartment for their own space but being close would be wonderful. I know that’s way in the future but something I’ve had on my own mind.
