I'll be the first one to say that I love German cars, the big trio Audi BMW and Mercedes, but I'm not that type of stupid fanboy who will bash anything that doesn't come from Germany. Going by looks alone I think this car is fresher than the A6, 5 series, and E Class.

Jaguar is without doubt the new king of the road, they have raised the bar to an even higher level with this beauty.

I have a 2011 XF 3litre diesel and it's been a wonderful car. No problems whatsoever and can be fairly quick when it wants to be. I will def be considering replacing with the newer V6 diesel.

I have had two XF's, both 3ltr diesels and loved them both. The first was written off by a pillock on his phone, the second was traded in for my current XJ Portfolio. For my money the German offerings are not in the same league, but I might be a bit biased!

It does look amazing, well done to Jaguar's design team.

It will take a timr before Jaguar reaches somewhat comparable volume sales of the 3 series, e-class and Q5 with their XE, XF and F-pace models, but they are certainly doing a good job with the new XE and XF models. The old XF was quite competitive, yet the sales were only fraction of its German rivals. It will take some time for the customers to get used to Jags models as an real option, but it seems Jaguar will finally became a volume brand. The new JLR owners really do know how to run a car company.

C'mon guys, don't be tight on the reviewer he's a nice bloke just doing his job! Oh and read the stats yourselves, the XF second generation really is as good as a 5-Series on most if not all fronts.

I'm 38 and I find the classic Jaguar style (with leather and walnut) much more appealing. It had certain grace and dignity to it. While new models are certainly modern and very high tech, they lack that classic appeal.

You're wrong about the rear suspension, the XE has the same setup as the XF, mainly the multilink "Integral Link".

FYI the XE also has the same suspension as the XF

XE also does have integral link @ back . Jag put it in XE first

Looks good and drives brilliantly, also a bit more exclusive than a German rival - looks more aggressive now too. If the Mercs weren't a bit offset in RHD guise then they'd probably be my fav but until the new 5 series comes out I agree with this bloke

I own a used 2017 xf r sport, this car is absolutely stunning, i owned mercedes and audi, but from my perspective the xf is better, the comfort and the driving are perfect, it is a beautiful car and so classy

Im a bmw owner 330xd i love my car but last week i bought XFS its a different story..

how are people saying this looks dated? it looks amazing to me especially next to a bmw.... the whole range you wouldn't look twice at.

bough my 3rd jag and its the last. nice cars but built to NEED a jaguar dealership to do ANYTHING to it but then the service from 'approved' dealers I have used had been appalling ( 6 weeks in and been 'advised' following a breakdown that dealer found 4,500.00 of work needed but still guessed at why I broke down !! The perfect dealer's car as they get the sale then the repeat business as it spends its life being repaired.

doesn't the XE have the same solution for the rear suspensions. they're both using integral link in the rear and double wishbone in the fronts

The exterior driving shots aren't from auto express. The track drivers had helmets, the reviewer didn't. Sometimes the silver road car has British '15 plates, sometimes no plates, sometimes a random numbered plate. Shoddy

The back is just like that old Honda Accord Euro..

cars in this class are all about preference over actual performance capabilities...is far as I've seen most people who buy these car NEVER explore their capability.

Where as the Germans are now starting to go fuzzy controls & many long contours/shapes/edges in their design, Jaguar's design is more modern & simple. Contemporary luxury is the best word I can find to describe it vs. the Elegance luxury like of Mercedes. Both the exterior design and interior layout speaks this to me. I was a fan of this theme when Audi employed it in the last A4 & A6, but their new ones left me a bit cold. I like where Jaguar is heading and it is a refreshing taste of where the Germans are heading.

The interior still doesn't seem usable enough to be as more popular mass market luxury cars but what makes me really uncomfortable is how much the rear looks like a Toyota camry.

Best looking car in its class? I think so. Not sure I'd pick the 2.0d version though. Thats kinda like having a Sunday roast with no meat. The V6 is where the enjoyment is at. If you're going to do it, do it properly.

Great interior and front end, unfortunately side line is very average and back end... well, really ugly in my opinion. I don't think following f-type back end styling is a good idea. Its easy to say that XF is better now. Need to wait till new 5 series and E class will be release next year. Looking at new A4, there's lots of hope in new A6 either.
