The first 500 miles with the new Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, I'm ready to head off road and see what it can do. I have traveled further and further off the beaten path over the last several years, and needed a vehicle that is capable of going further than ever. So for that reason, I chose the Rubicon for the job.

I just bought a 2023 and battled the dealer with hidden costs and I saved a good chunk of cash, but it was worth it. Can't wait to take it into the backwoods. Love your video.

If you decide to get a winch, open road makes awesome ones for the money. Also, rock hard 4x4 makes an awesome plate/mount that retains your stock bumper.

Great tip. The Rock Hard Mount is perfect, and it’s not too expensive.

@@OffGridAdventure I went crazy trying to pick a new bumper. I decided the look of the rock hard mount is awesome second to the stock steel bumper. When I score a steel bumper for cheap, I’ll use the rock hard mounting plate for that. Their rear bumpers with built in steps are also pretty slick! Good luck with your new truck. I love mine.

22 gladiator here. The mopar steel bumper, warn plate and badlands 12k winch with synthetic line is a great setup. Only tweak you have to make is to trim the engagement knob on the winch so it clears the cutout in the bumper, otherwise, it fits in real nice, doesn’t stick up real high in front of the grill(important for me having a diesel and the extra coolers).

You should see an MPG increase after a few thousand miles. I usually lose 1-3 MPG in the winter, too.

I wondered a little bit about this, but figured newer vehicles don’t break in like older ones.

25mpg highway on our 22 Gladiator Sport S Max Tow, stock tires, Smittybuilt SRC steel bumpers, 12K winch, slider/steps, tri fold bed cover. 16 to 18 mpg local. Give it time to break in and enjoy the smiles per gallon.

Makes sense. I got 18 mpg on the last tank, so it might be going up a little. It could be the weather too.

Got my 2022 Rubicon Gladiator Diesel because of the market correction. Its so damn incredible. Im using the Clayton 2.5 lift with 37s and the apex badlands winch.

Congrats! Did you install the lift yourself? I drove a different Jeep last week with the Rocky Ridge package and 37” tires. It was a nice ride.

Good video overall... you should do a little more research on the Gladiator trims though. The Mojave is lifted 1" in the front from the factory and the Rubicon is not lifted at all. Also, they sport the same tires, either the Falken AT3 or MTs. Both have the same skids underneath. The main difference is that the Rubi is meant for crawling over rocks and the Mojave is meant for hitting trails hard and "fast". End of the day, have fun, wave, and don't get sucked into the duck crap!

I appreciate it. I didn’t realize the Mojave had the skid plates and 1” higher up front. It amazes me how many different variations there are even among the same trim levels. My biggest mistake was getting one without the tow kit, and aux switches. I only tow a small trailer, but the extra cooling power with the tow kit could help with longevity overall.

@@OffGridAdventure Yep.. Jeeps have some awesome trims from the factory, but the aftermarket mod markets is amazing! I've been driving Jeeps for 30+ years and I moved to the Gladiator in late 21. While I love my 2-doors, the Gladiator is the best one I've had yet (minus the 10 point turns... HAHAHAHA).

@@OffGridAdventure The Mojave doesn't have the front locker, but does have the Fox shocks. All the Wrangler/Gladiator trims have skid plates to some degree. The Aux switches are what I wish I had, so much easier. Unless you need more than 4, it saves so much time over installing an aftermarket. Although there are some aftermarket, like the Voswitch that look really nice.

So is this going to be mainly a mudding and trails jeep or are you going to camp in it also. If so on a camping jeep then do you have an idea on camping accessories?

Huge discounts on Gladiator now. Talk of them being discontinued in the future. I think Willy's model is the sweet spot. They are truly amazing vehicles.

I'm just like you. Liked looked and wanted back in 2019 but the price took my breath away and I got a Renegade instead. Great dog car by the way, no regrets on that but it is limited. Now with 30% off MSRP, it was time... A 60,800 MSRP for 43 and some change... Done... Oh, my wife was adamant about me not getting it. Now she wants to drive it... She has enjoyed riding in it. Then she discovered in the summer It becomes a sunroof and she was asking how you did it. She can't hep herself.

It sounds like everything worked out well. And, maybe the time will be right soon to get one, but overall it seems like the Renegade was a good choice.
