I 100% agree, what they made at YSL is take a most loved DNA and make it extremely versatile, and this is a good thing, kind of what Armani did with ADG Profumo (although they're completely different fragrances)

Very nice review! Love la nuit, to bad the projection isn’t as strong as I would want it to be but still a lovely fragrance. I also have the discontinued intense version, and today I picked up the le parfum version 😁. The la nuit collection is simply timeless.

I’m very glad to hear they didn’t go the aquatic route for that DNA, not sure how well that would go. For me the OG will always provide fond memories, wore the hell out of it in my party days! You’ve made me quite intrigued by this new one, killer breakdown Chris.

Everyone says this is similar to the old one just because it lasts longer since the new version is gone so fast. Also, since you say you can use it all the time for any situation I guess it would be a blue fragrance. Just a new take on a blue fragrance we haven't seen before, which is cool

Great review Chris. I'd be fascinating to sit in on a boardroom meeting at one of these companies and see how they come up with these names. It almost seems like the process is handled by a computer algorithm. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if an algorithm is actually running the company! 😂 The future of humanity.

Thanks for the video Chris ! Finally someone that says its not BLEU ! THANK GOD ! because i smelled this and i was ..no its not ... clearly ... They probably put this name flankers because its to expensive to get a new name ... For me its close to the vintage batch ,old formulations ,lasts old day and projects decent . i just love it . I get more lavender in this one .

Thanks Chris To Reviewing The YSL Perfume. Excited To Test, But I Like The Frozen Cologne. Now Discontinued, And Replaced Into Eau Electrique in 2017, Then Replaced Again Into Bleu Electrique. Look Now To Trying That.

Good review. I love this fragrance but agree it doesn’t smell blue. It also doesn’t smell much like Eau Electrique to me. Odd choice for name. Definitely is closest to the original La Nuit. Love this fragrance.

I have this for over a month now. It’s fantastic so close to the original version only fresher , more Blue. Great projector on my skin. Lasts about 6 hours in total. Lots of compliments so far. I’ve got 5 bottles I’m going to a few more. Before they start reformulating, This is an EDT INTENSE VERSION

I had a 200ml bottle of 2020 batch of la nuit, after going through my 2018 batch and the 2020 version sucks, it’s super watered down even in comparison to 2018 batch. Last week I smelled Bleu electrique, and immediately did a side by side comparison, Bleu electrique is better than the 2020 batch by a long shot in every category. When you smell them side by side, not even close.

Its a bit fresher and has a more spicy dry down than LNDL. Its ok but I prefer the OG

I have a 2011 batch of LNDH and this one. I’d say the older LNDH is a bit rougher and louder but they are SUPER similar. I agree that the new one is more refined and it’s one of the best designer releases I can think of in years.

just to clarify, the formulation technically didn’t change from 2015 to roundabout 2021… if you look at the formulation code it’s C167049/1 throughout these years so I’d take these claims of performance differences with a grain of salt, maybe more skin chemistry or maceration… but apparently there has been another reformulation recently (idk when exactly) but a new 2022 bottle I purchased had a new formula code (N70011799/1) and in my opinion this is a very disappointing one… completely watered down

I truly thought this one was way overhyped by the frag community. I purchased a full bottle because I liked the original & since it was being totally hyped up I felt it was a safe, “no brainer” purchase. But wow, what a let down!!! IMO the origial LNDL is an all around better more interesting fragrance. But like you said this one I agree is more for maybe a younger audience.

i also have to admit that I still prefer the original, even the 3rd formulation… I also own a 2013 batch and tbh I don’t see how people get reminded of older batches by bleu electrique… don’t get me wrong, I also like bleu electrique but the opening is much brighter and then a little sweeter on the drydown but over all also more flat… imo…

Great review! I have a sample. First impressions: very pleasant discreet, powdery, feminine, elegant, intimate scent. Not masculine at all, women can wear it. Feels expensive, very good quality. Price is good also. Because of the lavender, which I think is pretty dominant, it doesn’t come in for me. (I'm 50, male) I wouldn't call it sexy, it's more like pleasant. Rather indoors except summer all year round. It really isn't a blue scent. Don’t take it blindly, just anyone who knows the series.

Got this today and man it is so weak and faint. It performs exactly the same as the standard EDT maybe even worse. After 5 mins I have to put my nose on my forearm to actually smell it as it does not project at all and lasts on my skin for An hour or two. Paid full retail at David Jones for a skin scent, wooohooo. The only one that somewhat performs at all is the EDP version, and I still find that one to be too weak. Why does YSL want to make their fragrances so damn weak? What is the point.

A "blue" fragrance isn't particularly salty, marine and aquatic. That's not the definition of "blue".

Why do you say "La noo-ey"? It's La Kna-wee. Is the refusal of proper pronunciation am "English hate the French" thing? Also, a blue fragrance isn't defined by it being salty or aquatic. Dior Sauvage and Bleu de Chanal are both blue fragrances. Also a lot of blue fragrances tend to make you nose blind. Sounds like you're nose blind to the new ingredients and mistaking it for weaker projection.
