I think you made a mistake Aaron: the notes you said are exactly from EAU electrique(released in 2017) , not from BLEU electrique(2021); 2 completely different fragrances; You bought and reviewed EAU electrique(as example, you said green apple, which is not found in bleu electrique), and I see at 1:18, the name on the bottle is EAU, not BLEU, if I'm not mistaken; waiting for a response from you. Keep up the good work

Super awesome review

Picked it up last summer. I sprayed it on the back of my hand and it instantly reminded me of the classic La Nuit de L'Homme because of how dark and rich it was. I immediately bought a bottle and noticed it started to fade after an hour or so. I gave it a full wear the next day and it vanished completely within an hour again. My wife and kids couldn't even pick up a whiff. Such a shame....it started out fantastic but was a complete let-down. Excellent review as always!

Dear Aaron, the notes that you are telling are from Eau Electrique, not for Blue Electrique (which is the newest reinterpretation of the OG La Nuit de l'Homme). I can't see the bottle properly, but regarding the performance issues and the notes that you smell, I think that you are reviewing Eau Electrique.

My support. I wouldn't consider this fragrance but you offer something to be learned with each video.

I would absolutely love to purchase ATH’s interpretation of LNDL Bleu Electrique. Would I love for it to be longer lasting? Yes please!! It’s a decent performer on my skin, I get about 5 hours and I really find this scent absolutely sexy.. Spot on Aaron. I blind bought this based on the many reviews on KZfaq where they said it had fantastic projection and was a compliment puller. It was a total let down in that department.

I’m hoping that as this is a new fragrance the performance will improve once the bottle has macerated a bit. When I first opened it I got really poor performance too. I’ve used it a few times to get some air into the bottle and I’m hoping after 6 months or so has passed the juice will be macerated and performance will improve as scent wise this is one of my favourites

I have this and have worn it 6-7 times. I have found that if I do “double sprays” - a total of 10-12, it will last most of my work day. Also, I can smell it in my clothes the next day.

Thanks for the review, Aaron. I had a similar experience, really nice opening and it turned into a skin scent very quickly. My skin tends to eat up fragrances and I don’t get a lot of longevity from most fragrances, but this one turned into a skin scent much quicker than other frags that I wear.

You're a great perfumer and I love your work. I'm sadden that YSL LNDL blue electrique didn't live up to the hype because the perfumer behind it Dominque Ropion is amazing and I love what he did with YSL Y EDP.

Thi must’ve already gotten reformulated bc my 3 bottle that I bought when Macys first got this in is considerably more than a skin scent and projects very well for a freshie. Love this stuff.

I noticed the notes you mentioned were for Eau Electrique rather than Bleu Electrique, particularly when there was no mention of cardamom as a note. Bleu Electrique has much fewer notes in the top, mid and base. That being said, I love watching your reviews and love Bleu Electrique! Thankfully, this has great longevity on my skin with decent sillage, but it doesn’t have much projection which I’m OK with because it smells amazing.

Wore it on New Year's Eve and immediately had a friend asking about it. This was around 2 hours after application, so I guess I must be fortunate to actually get some performance out of it. Edit; I'm talking about Bleu and not Eau Electrique of course^^

I absolutely love this one too, absolutely classic perfumery, very masculine but not so much so that any man can't wear this. This is such a wearable scent and won't offend anyone. I think I just love these types of scent as I've gotten older, not a fan of the Candy Sweet fragrances. Hopefully YSL will bring out an Eau Der Parfum and a Parfum version at some point!

Totally agreed with you Aaron. Perfume nowadays they really give you a very nice appealing opening. those people used to spray it for the first time for sure fall in love. But the bad things come when they even last at all. so disappointed..

Try either Guerlain Vetiver or the Vetiver Extreme version for an absolutely belting Vetiver fragrance..I have the Extreme version as it's creamier off my skin. Both are belters.

YSL stands for - Your Scents Last Seconds. It's a shame really, because I loved the OG vintage La Nuit with the beautiful and domineering cardamom note. The projection and longevity of the OG La Nuit was stellar, an all day into the next day for me. I own this one as well and it definitely is lacking in the projection department. but it does last on my skin, thankfully. Great review as always!

I feel YSL fragrances are more subtle and seductive, which get closer to the skin. That said, I have this fragrance which I find quite pleasing. I also love YSL L'homme (Original Formula). Similar in blueprint, it draws people in, instead of blasting people in the face...😂

The performance isn’t too bad, I do 6-8 sprays and have got compliments from it 6 hours later

The solution to make this one (and any weak fragrance for that matter) a radiant beast is to simply add Ambroxan to it, can be purchased in isolated form pretty much in any serious perfume store.

Is there a specific reason why base note materials are so expensive? There are some inexpensive fragrances like Wanted and Wanted by Night with suprisingly enormous projection and longevity.

I remember thinking the original L'Homme was men's perfume hitting "peak bodywash" (good, but ultimately forgettable and just there) .. but I really enjoyed and bought a bottle of the original La Nuit de L'Homme for it's gorgeous and sexy-smooth cardamon foundation. I've only tried a couple of the later flankers but had a similar 'great-to-skin scent' experience and haven't really been drawn to try any of the newer ones because of that.

Agreed.... I do love this scent.. but you want it to last but it just doesn't. I need to carry a small travel atomiser just to get a good few hours out of this... Sad to say that unless you are prepared to pay a decent amount of money, you are going to get this all and then nothing from designer houses now. But I do agree it's a fantastic scent, just doesn't stay around long enough 😟

I have noticed that all my fragrances last more after 3 weeks of being sprayed for the first time. Also something I found out it’s that the only two fragrances that are sold out right now at my local macys are blue electrique and sauvage elixir .

I got three bottles of this sealed. I wonder if I should open them and spray a few sprays from each to let some air in to macerate.

I get about 2 hours of detectable performance on my skin, then another 1-2 where it's a skin scent and you have to press your nose to the skin to smell it. Not great, but for the smell and the price it's okay for me. I agree with 8/10. It is also very highly wearable

Yeah I know what you mean. A non linear fragrance is hard to achieve, I haven't tried this personally so I can't comment. The fragrance I created "Icarus" but I made a mistake everything turned out fine but you don't add in both Mandrake and Feijoa. Being synthetic accords that both contain Ethyl butyrate even diluted at 30% it's a no. Had I have incorporated Pomegranate instead would have worked out better in the volatile notes. Dry down was lovely slightly sweet warmth from tonalide and Amber that dressed both Cedarwood and Vetiver nicely. Love your reviews must try one of your fragrances, keep shining 🌟

Hi Aaron, what acetates would you recommend to the aspiring perfumer? I only have Linalyl, Geranyl, Vetiveryl, and Phenyl Ethyl Acetates on my aromachem collection.

Aaron, is there any way to make fragrances like this last longer as a consumer? I already use lotion to make sure my skin is hydrated but I want to wear this one so much!

There has been a LOT of hype about this particular fragrance! References back to the Original La Nuit De L’Homme YSL.. some say a nod to this, some say even better than the original. Guess what? I never had the original when I came out, and that [probably] was the best iteration of this range.. sadly, new formulations of the original, and now this flanker, have been made to replace the original. So, firstly, the original isn’t always the best. Secondly, #YSL don’t try to fix something that isn’t broken with this. And thirdly, while I entirely agree with you about this Aaron, on my skin it does last a lot longer than I had anticipated! But that’s simply because everyone has different skin reactions to fragrances.. As a caveat, though.. fantastic review as always Aaron, thank you! I love it, and so do/will most others. I also wonder if you may be able to get a hold of the ordinal flanker Aaron, if possible? And perhaps do a comparison between the two (or three of you get the reformulated version of the Orignal?). I get ok performance from this. About a hour of average projection and 5 hours of smellable skin scent. Perfect for a date night for me

Aaron. I have Spicebomb Extreme and adore the smell but find it doesn't really project (after an hour or so anyway). Is there anything I can do (layering) to help it project?

Aron I was thinking of making my own base fragrance, to enrich(if that is a word) any fragrance, I had in mind to use cedarwood(not sure the origin) and patchouli(dirty, champhorus) essencials and some iso e super.

I had the same thoughts on this perfume, very exciting opening that vanishes. I would be curious if you reviewed a perfume from Orto Parisi that is called Cuoium. The parfumier is Alessandro Gualtieri, the one that makes Nasomatto.

Hey, not sure if you are reviewing Bleu Electrique or Eau Electrique. The one with the green apple and vanilla is Eau Electrique, Bleu Electrique opens with Cardamon, Ginger and Bergamot.

I have a queston. So I tried a sample of YSL La Nuit De L'Homme and it vanished after an hour. But the smell is soooo goood. Maybe there are similar scents that last a decent amout of time I could check out?

great honest review, i bought it from a french site a few months ago based on other reviewers recommendation but feel let down as the longevity sucks, I'm lucky to get an hour from it and that's with about 6-8 sprays so nearly sent it back if the site was a uk based one. lovely scent but not worth the money in my opinion based on you will go through a bottle in no time

I think it depends on your skin type because I get 2 hours before it becomes more of a skin scent, then maybe another 4 on skin.

If a user lotioned up prior to spraying heavy, then hit it with ambroxian would that amp up performance?

I remember when it first came. The hype was high. I got like within a month of its launching. I applied it and went confidently to night out. Nobody could detect anything. In my mind, I was like this is the intense version of the OG come on.

I had the same experience, I had to dig my nose in my hand after 20-30 min. That why I didn’t purchase it. Was excited for this release due to it being a better performing of the original. Don’t always believe the hype, always test it for urself

I get the same performance, maybe it’s my skin. It just doesn’t pop off my skin and smells flat. Maybe when it was delivered it was outside to long in the heat, or maybe my skin chemistry. Other ppl say it’s great longevity compared to La Nuit De Lhomme.

YSL, all you have to do, literally, is release La Nuit L'Elixir. The ultimate La Nuit that: A) lasts and B) projects. That's it. You don't have to think of a way to make it different. No one wants you to change the DNA. Just make it better performing. Who cares if its more expensive, people WILL pay more for a stronger version. Just. Do. It.

How about comparing this to just the current normal La Nuit de L'Homme? (I mean not a vintage original one, just the current LNDL) I have that one, and compared it to this new one Bleu Electrique. This new one fresher to me, and seemed to last and project a bit more, but I still sort of prefer the normal one.

most perfumes really do just disappear now, to the point when I try something and it still has strong sillage hours later I'm surprised, which is sad because most scents should do that

The thing is if your brain has that initial reaction of euphoria from the 1st sniff. It will only want more of the same its like addiction it wants to recreate that same feeling. I bet you everyone else will smell it. Haha just keep spraying. I'm still gunna buy it 👍

I picked this one up for 35 bucks from Macy’s on Black Friday so I think it was a good buy for that price even with the mediocre performance

Same thing happened to me.nice opening but it turned into a skin scent by the time i finished my stroll through the perfume section in the mall.

I like this one. Definitely not as sweet as Jean Paul Gaultier Ultra Male Intense EDT. But sweet enough to be different They could have added Heliotrope and Benzoin. Could be interesting if they did. I also like the La Nuit de L'homme L'Intense EDP as well.

Have you tried it with either of your Animalix fragrances?

My opinion is these types of fragrances (the ones they sell in boots) are top note heavy because the manufacturer's know a lot of men will try something on in a department store or where ever and make an instant decision whether to buy it or not, based on that first couple of minutes. I.e. I think it's basically a marketing ploy. Keep up the good work of educating people how to wear fragrances properly, and think more about what they're buying.

please do cultivate a spicy musky fragrance with cardamom and saffron

Completely agree with the projection. The projection is terrible for the money. Nautic voyage is a quarter of the price and it's projection is way better
